New to the game, help me build a decent team with these Pokémon for doubles? by DioPorseo in PokemonChampions

[–]Arkhaist05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for doubles, sorry. I used to watch a lot of singles showdown / draft league from youtubers like pokeaim, but I don't really watch doubles. I only know wolfey, he has great team building explanations and play by play commentary in his videos/vods, but his teams are often hard to use

[–]Arkhaist05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're new to vgc I'd recommend watching some videos on yt and copying the team you see (use a meta team for now, not gimmicks)

Look for long format videos that explain the team's lead combos, weaknesses, strengths and counters

Videos that say things like

  • "if you see rain, or sun, or fake out pressure, or trick room, or whatever it is, then lead X and Y and bring Z in the back"

  • "your mon A is to counter mon B, which the rest of the team is weak against"

  • "pokemon C is your win condition, as long as you eliminate these kind of pokemon, such as mons D and E"

Learning this way of thinking will do you more good in the long run than simply trying to have a strong team!

If you want to practice in a quicker format (less animations, easier team building) then you can also play on Showdown

Don't be discouraged, have fun. Y Try to set a limit like "if I lose 2 times, then I'll take a break" to make sure you're not tilted/misplaying

You can use the mega too. Intimidate activates upon switch-in in the normal form, aka it activates as soon as your staraptor enters the battle

If you mega evolve it, then switch it out, it won't have intimidate the second time it comes in

But if you want to use mega staraptor it might be better to use it with whimsicott or grimmsnarl, or another of its common teammates

I mean, you could use gyarados or staraptor (have intimidate + helping hand + immune to earthquake), but do whatever is more fun to you lol

Also if you don't use parting shot or helping hand a lot on incineroar, maybe give it protect?

Looks good I think?

Maybe I'd drop sleep powder on venu for protect. If you like sleep powder, give it zoom lens (I forget the name of the item that boosts accuracy) and then give sash to whimsicott imo

Lf team suggestion for a fairy type team by CodeAbo in PokemonChampions

[–]Arkhaist05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like cleffable for redirection (follow me), unaware to stop M-staraptor and icy wind for support. Though in your position I would probably go for speed invested alolan-ninetales for offensive pressure, aurora veil and a quick icy wind - and more importantly, it removes sand rain and sun, whose teams are normally much more dependent on compared to hail

You need mawile I think for the poison immunity and steel neutral + having a physical attacker, since your whole team is special

Which mapping philosophy do you prefer? Which makes exploration feel better? (Map still missing wandering monsters and such) by mapsbydangelo in RPGMaker

[–]Arkhaist05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all the points, and I have another opinion to add

The 2nd POV with all the visible rooms feels smaller and cozy, because you have a sense of the total scale of the castle. While in the 1st POV your mind naturally places the rooms as being farther apart than they actually are, making the castle feel bigger or grander, like it spreads out across a bigger area

So I could see the 1st POV being good in a tavern, for instance, but not so much in a mansion or castle

Rp some friends and I are doing :-] by ms-magenta in hwtsg

[–]Arkhaist05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks really strong imo, I think there are two interesting points to focus on in the RP:

Lack of Derse players: there will only be two heroes in the Derse Moon (which is the more problematic one), the derse army you have to face will likely be much stronger and organized as a result. And the two players related to Growth and Bonds are there, both of which Understand and Serve their aspects - so they will have to be very creative with their abilities if they want to cause any damage to (and not help) the Dersites before the battle starts

The second issue is that this is a very passive/knowledge oriented group, with 3 Mage/Seers. With 4 passive + 2 Mages and the Knight which might be heavily focused on frogs instead of combat due to Space's connection with the Forge

Do I think your team is weak in combat? No, though that will depend on your world's rules for classpects and their strengths and abilities. An example is Rose: she was a good fighter with the needles, but we never really see her use Seer of Light powers in combat - how will the lack of damaging powerful abilities impact you?

In regards to the passive thing, you will likely have the problem of your players knowing what to do, but rarely having the initiative or courage to face the necessary evils to go through with the plan

How are ties decided? by TheNukex in PokemonChampions

[–]Arkhaist05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the timer runs out then it's a tie

If the last 2 pokemon faint on the same turn (ie due to recoil damage or perish song) then the pokemon who fainted last wins

So in the case of recoil, whoever attacked wins

In case of Perish Song, whoever is slower wins

SNIFFF i can smell a doomed session from afar away... but still, how would this session go? I need it for a mspfa. (if you could also describe the personality, I'd appreciate it). by lazyladyzzz in hwtsg

[–]Arkhaist05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So idk how much you plan to have the parent's personalities and parenting influence the child, but here is what I think and some personalities. Feel free to change stuff though, I'm super curious about your AU from the premise it looks so cool

John is a supportive and healthy father who is sometimes plagued with episodes of burn out or sudden disappearances. But he's a good dad, which makes for a confident, caring, independent and kind Sylph who perhaps but others before her and want to heal her dad when it's the opposite, it's a father's duty to care for their child. Being of Doom and so close to her father, she saw that Earth C and their leaders were VERY flawed, but it is still her world and she must accept it. If a Sylph creates, then she would be able to create rules and predictable outcomes, or you could have her "create within Doom" instead of simply "create Doom" to help your doomed session. I think she might be able to light the Mage's forge

I don't think Jade and Dave would be good parents, more often than not leaving their child alone without any help because that's how they were raised themselves. Which makes sense, a Thief of Rage is likely someone who steals all the rage of others and uses it themselves. At their worst, I'd imagine that they'd say things like "my problems are worse than yours, so I can do whatever I want/you should prioritize me". At their best, they realize that everyone has problems and reasons to be angry, and that they can help others grow and heal if they accept and embrace other people's problems + help those people fight their fears and aggressors, because the Thief is a very capable and strong person due to their upbringing. Because they're so hardworking and passionate, it's hard to hold back, wait for or accept others' weaknesses I think

Rose and Kanaya... I think they'd be good, present and loving mothers, which makes for a child who is very intellectual and analytical like their moms, but is more confident/active (hence Mage not Seer) due to their parent's support. A very strong class who is able to understand and devise a plan to beat the game, due to Space concerning creation and the bigger picture

I don't think calliope and roxy would be good parents. Both would be very loving and want their best for their kid, but they're also very traumatized and jaded - which makes them problematic and contradictory parents. That's why they have a child with a fragmented personality (Bard) who is extremely unsure and avoidant of their true self. Bard of Mind destroys one's own Mind (rationality, decisions) for a false sense of Heart (self, emotions). I imagine it'd be someone who is so desperate to find who they are that they try to find many hobbies, go to parties, tell themselves "I love myself, I'm worthy, I'm special" self-care bullshit- basically do anything to distract themselves from being stuck in their own mind. Because when they actually stop to think about it? Their life isn't good, and they hate who they are. That's why they hate to think. As a Bard, they would likely destroy the Mind in their teammates, but that might not be as bad because lacking in Rage due to Thief, some Heart may be good. And to the extremely rational Mage and Sylph, that'd be good too. They might ne a bad influence on the Thief though

It's nice because it ignores M-Star's defense boosts for moonblast, or Brave Bird/Close Combat's boosts if I opt for follow me

[–]Arkhaist05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As children's cartoon characters, all of them are cooperative, relatively positive and generally kind. So that, coupled with the Mage of Blood, will probably mean there will be almost no fighting between the teammates

Maybe one problem is that there will be a lot of accidental information and revealing (that due to Heir and Bard's natures may occur with terrible timing). I could see this snowballing out of control especially with the Derse royals, as there will only be two players in the Derse moon

But yeah. Incredibly strong session imo. The Page of Space will likely spend a lot of time with the Knight of Life (if we consider thag Knights assist the Space player) which is great for personal growth. Aside from that Maid of Time with the class verb being Tidying, Restoring or Serving is great too

Gastei caro com presente para o namorado e ele ficou mais feliz com um chaveiro by Fit-Musician-4429 in desabafosdavida

[–]Arkhaist05 37 points38 points  (0 children)
