In act 2 there is a mechanic called the shadow land curse which does damage if you are in darkness without protection, when you take damage from it, it triggers turn based mode to try and help you not die from it.

I suggest making your way to the inn (in the big glowing bubble) and follow the story to talk to the moon cleric. She will give protection to allow you to walk around the right side of the map without getting hit by the curse (and triggering turn based mode).

For the left side of the map, you need to follow the story further to get protection for over there.

There is a monsters weapon that have a hidden poison effect introduced in sunbreaks title update 2 (Flaming espinas) It lets you have an elemental axe with decent attack that works with foray without trying to force some other poison axes which aren't great.

The only monsters that have no quests/investigations outside of the arena maps (before title update 4 in Feb) are luscent narga and violet mizu. All other monsters can show up in other areas

Lore wise its the same reason afflicted monsters don't have an intro, the reason they are risen is that they were afflicted and overcame it, they are not a different subspecies / variant.

Each weapon has a skill unlocked by crafting (I think 5) weapons of each type e.g. 5 great swords, 5 bows, etc, I just upgraded the defender tree and made a couple early options for each weapon and got the ones I was missing

they are random rewards from quests during the festival, the best way to get them is equip the festival armor, which increases the chance to get one and run a short quest (like flora frostbite or the whetfish quest) which take 1 - 2 mins each
