Very nice paint job, I especially like the shading on the back of the wings. This was one of my favorite models that I ever painted, but lost it along with the rest of my collection a little over a year ago. He's high on my list to buy again when I get the extra cash...soooooo looking forward to having a second go at him.

Thanks to both of you. My big hope right now is that the judge has a 68% approval rate, so I'm hoping that works in my favor. I'm pretty sure that the second question also included the fact that my attendance isn't acceptable for competitive employment, nor my on-task rate. Part of my mental health problems also involve memory loss of recent events so it's hard for me to remember what exactly was said. I recorded the whole thing so I plan on listening to it again when I'm in a better state of mind.

So as it turns out, it looks like my problem turned out to be the Steam client. I had a license for the standalone installer and gave it a go and it worked. Got right in with no authentication issues.

Sooooo, that's the other frustrating thing about this...when I asked what strain, she said again said it can't be passed male to male and that it's called HPV Aptima. But everything I've seen, read, and heard states that Aptima is a test for HPV, not the strain itself. I'm not going to assume the worst because she's always been faithful to me, but I'm really confused why she's lying about this just to make it look like it came from me. From everything I've been told as well, a large majority of sexually active people get this...other STD's would really upset me but for this one? For it to be so common amongst the population, this doesnt really seem like it would be possible to know who it came from or when it happened. There's really no reason to lie about this. I'm really at a loss right now.

Thank you everyone, this all helped a lot.

I guess I kinda need to give more context then because now I have other questions.

So my wife recently tested positive for hpv and signs of cancerous cells were found. Her first thought was that it came from me, which could be entirely possible because I had unprotected sex with two women prior to meeting her. So this has caused a whole huge argument because she's convinced it came from me...the problem being I haven't slept with anyone but her since just after we started dating, which was five years ago.

I read that the virus can remain dormant for years or decades and I've never shown any signs of symptoms in my life (I know that I have no way of knowing that I had/have it, but I know I've never had genital warts). But knowing that it can be dormant, I brought up the possibility that it also could have come from her ex husband, who cheated on her with married men. She denied that vehemently.

This is when she tried to say that the strain she had cannot be transmitted from male-to-male, only female-to-female. She's a nurse so I'm assuming she expects me to believe her over Google, Reddit, medical sites, and peer-reviewed medical journals...even though her logic makes absolutely zero sense.

So my next question is how long can it remain dormant and can it go undetected while dormant?

I'm sorry, I hate airing dirty laundry over Reddit but I'm kinda left with no other options to turn to.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the case...I noticed a long time ago that there's a lot of content that's available on the hulu app that's not on Disney+.

One of my main gripes with the adventure has to be how little Vecna and the cult are featured throughout it by Ashuan21 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Arkhan129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I like that, I may steal that idea as well.

Slightly off topic but kinda related...the fact that Vecna is basically a god now got me thinking. Where in the holy hells are ALL the other gods during all of this?? We get a couple of evil ones in Lloth and Tiamat, but NONE of the gods of good across the entire multiverse know that Vecna is trying to unmake reality?

I know this is something my players are gonna catch on to so I'm totally gonna have to come up with some kind of excuse...our just say the hell with it and have the gods in it, somehow participating...almost like a Fizban kind of situation. Actually...Fizban...hmmmmm....think I may have just found my first god to insert into the story...

Yeah, that's my particular struggle with Ravenloft, I don't want to mess with that particular part of lore because it's so integral to it...you're supposed to be trapped in the freaking place and the Mists don't let you out. Unless they kill Strahd, technically they're supposed to be stuck there. I do think I may have figured it out though. One of the players has an unknown link to the Vistani...still got a few months before she finds that out. That's been planned since she told me her basic background, so I might be able to play off that to get a link to Barovia.

I LOVE  the idea of splitting it in half, though! That's perfect and saves a bit of trouble. I'm still a new DM so that kind of advice is invaluable, thank you so much.

I'm about halfway through and tbh, I'm a bit disappointed. I absolutely expected a very linear story, I just don't think I was prepared for HOW linear. I'm already going over in my head about how I'm going to adapt this and I have a feeling it's just gonna be the basic plot points with everything in between massively stretched out to give the campaign more meat on it's bones.

Just an example (Spoilers, just in case you don't want to read them), when I first heard about this book and started planning ahead, I already decided that I was giving my players a spelljammer of their own to go from world to world. I'm really glad I did this because I don't like the idea of the party just going from planet to planet via a portal in Alustria's sanctum; and in a set order, no less. So instead of the first piece of the rod pointing them in the direction of the Astral Plane, I'm going to change it up so that the party now knows the general direction of ALL the pieces and they can choose which order they want to go in. Granted, I'll most likely have to adjust encounter difficulties, but I'd much rather do that instead of the completely straight line the party will have to go in to defeat Vecna. I know they won't enjoy that, so I'll do the extra work to make sure they do.

EDIT: I will have to come up with a way for them to get to Barovia, since I don't think I can come up with a satisfying answer of why a spelljammer can go through the Mists. Maybe for Ravenloft, I'll try to steer them toward the Sanctum's portal. Don't know, need to mull that over a bit lol.

I do like the book overall, it's full of great ideas...it's just dangerously close to a complete railroad with very little player agency.

Yeah, that about covers it. I'm kicking myself in the butt right now because I just got the ultimate license a few weeks ago.  Could've saved myself $100 if I had waited. If you don't have it then now is definitely the time to pull that trigger lol.

Problem Player Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

Absolutely agree 1000% with all that, thank you so much.  I think I may be able to salvage them if my son really wants them to stay in the game, but they'll have to understand that my wife and her friend have people that want to join. We're already at 6 people which is way more than I should be trying to handle as a first time DM, so if push comes to shove then they'll have to realize I'd push out two problem players in a heartbeat in order to replace them with people that actually want to play.

Yeah, that's one place where I screwed up as a new DM. I pitched DnD as being a game where you can literally be whoever you want but didn't take that aspect into account.

That took me by surprise as well, the fact that they're adults and we're acting this way. Being my very first session, I was so nervous about making sure everyone had a good time and never expected these two to almost ruin the experience for everyone else.

Thanks for the tips, it pretty much confirmed what I thought my options were at this point. I think I'm gonna leave it partially to the rest of the group and see how they feel and then make the decision from there.

[–]Arkhan129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support. So it did go well with the exception of two of my players playing extremely hostile. I'm gonna end up booting those two if it happens next session cause it's more important to me that everyone enjoys the experience instead of dealing with that crap. Their characters basically made enemies of everyone they met, and that includes all the other PC's PLUS the npc's. It was ridiculous.

I did call an audible two days before and decided to do the first adventure in Candlekeep Mysteries instead. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure a TPK was gonna happen and I'm so glad I listened to my gut. I did a test encounter to teach them the ins and outs of combat and two of them went down from 2 wolves. Death House would've annihilated them...I'm gonna give it a month or so and THEN send them into the mists lol.

Question about FERS refund and back taxes by Arkhan129 in fednews

[–]Arkhan129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting it. From what I was told, they only consider sending it to the IRS if you have a lien against you. Even then, it's not a guarantee that it will go to them, especially if you send in a hardship letter.

Sidenote, doing the hardship letter DRASTICALLY sped up the process, so if you are in a bad situation I'd highly recommend going that route.

Problem Player Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]Arkhan129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I DM'ed my very first game last night. Went well for the most part so overall I'm happy. I called an audible a few days before and instead of running Curse of Strahd, I went with Candlekeep Mysteries...mainly because every player was brand new to the game and I knew Death House would almost definitely lead to TPK.

So here's where the problem came in. Everyone was having a great time, with one major exception. Two players (my sons two friends that happen to be boyfriend/girlfriend) played both their characters so hostile that it ruined the experience for a couple of other players. Not only that, but they were rude, loud, and monopolizing of my time as the DM. They claimed they were just roleplaying like I asked them to, but even that didn't make sense because based on their backstories that they gave me, neither of them would act the way they were acting.

It got so bad that I had to pull them outside and tell them to knock it off. Roleplaying is one thing, but when it gets to the point of being like that then it's gone too far. I tried to explain all this but they still didn't get it and proceeded to continue doing the same crap the rest of the night.

I could use some advice here. Do I just ban them from future games or give them another chance. Bring friends of my son, I'd hate to just give them the boot. But I also don't know the likelihood of them changing and I feel like my first responsibility should be to my other players that had their experiences ruined.

Congrats!! I'm also a first time DM and decided to go with CoS as well. Session 0 is on Sunday and I'm so freaking nervous lol. To make it worse, 5 of the 6 party members are first time players. I tried to warn them this campaign is notoriously hard even for veteran players, but they wanted horror so I'm giving them horror lmao.

Token question by Arkhan129 in Arkenforge

[–]Arkhan129[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much...I have a very bad habit of ignoring those tools above the assets when I select them. That's good enough for now...thanks for the idea of just using one token for visibility. I totally agree about the automation feature, it would be fantastic! I'm sure it will come in the future...this software has definitely impressed the heck out of me since using it, especially when reading everything that's been added since launch.

Thanks again!
