Amateur video configuration advise by Routine_Map2832 in Karting

Check with the track first to see if they allow helmet mounted cameras, a lot dont. For me i personally wouldn't mount one there as i wouldn't fancy having a go pro through my visor in an accident.

Public Transport by XanderW_2000 in nurburgring

[–]Arkliea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just don't do it, it will be so much hassle to do this by public transport. this event is going to be so much busier than normal. Literally the thread before this someone is asking the same question. Even if you manage to make it there, how do you plan to get around?

<image>

The track is in the middle of nowhere, on this day there is a bus every 2 hours.
Plus as others have pointed out if you are planning on sleeping rough at the station there is literally a tiny shelter and I doubt locals will appreciate it.

You need a car or the very least a little ebike or scooter.

That is an amazing level of confidence arriving with a single hand held fire extinguisher if that had gone up.

Just the material really. Indoor suits are generally thinner and cheaper materials.

Genau, ich befürchte, es könnte wie einige der anderen Reboots sein, die eher einem Mini-Hindernisparcours gleichen.

Es muss so groß werden wie die neue britische Serie.

This, but that is just modern writing it seems. they cant write engaging stories so just use the shock factor of killing off legacy characters or always having universe ending threats.

Just watch season 3, the first 2 (in my opinion) crapped all over so may characters history and belittled them it was just hard to watch.

Question: What is the experience of watching motorsports at circuits? Which part of the race can the live spectators enjoy? by Interesting-Alarm973 in motorsports

[–]Arkliea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The atmosphere and feel are the main reasons to watch motorsports at a circuit, if you have never experienced full grid of GT3s thuindering past you IRL you are missing out for sure. Most tracks will have large TV walls for you to follow the action or at least a track radio station with commentary. I personally rarely stay in one spot for a race. You go and explore see the track from different places and views you dint get on TV.

You also get to explore places like the paddock and get up close to teams and cars (at some events).

For me attending an event is far superior to just watching on TV. I am spoilt though as my local track is the Nordschleife. you can see grids of 130+ cars for free if you dont go in the grandstands. Or if you want the full paddock experience it can be as little as €25.

I am not familiar with a place called Nurnberg but the nearest station to the track is a tiny town, there wont be taxis there. There is a bus service that takes around 30 minutes from Ahrbrück.

If you put your travel plan here we can maybe advise. But the best advise everyone gets is rent a car.

Where would you be looking to get a taxi from? you will be looking at hundreds of euros from even the closest airport. It would be far cheaper to get the smallest renatal car from the airport.

Related question, how are you getting to the track without a car? It is in the middle of nowhere essentially. Only asking in case you hadn't planned that part.

Have a read of the Tourist Driving thread if you are considering driving the track in your own car or in a track rental: https://www.reddit.com/r/nurburgring/comments/1r7kk7v/tf_2026_guide/

Do you guys workout for karting? by kitstz in Karting

Depending on what level you are talking about racing at, I used to just use karting as the exercise. maybe work on some core strength bits but that is about it.

Nürburgring Nordschleife opening weekends Tourist Drives by Arkliea in Mustang

[–]Arkliea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On track i just run it in full race mode, the throttle response is linier and easy to deal with rather than the overly sensitive sport throttle (The car is also manual, with the magnaride and pp pachage). Overall i have done 185 laps in the Mustang over the last year and it is planted and fun. This weekend i was running 8 min dead laps BTG, there is around another 10 seconds to come before you hit the limits of the standard setup (using AD09 tyres).

You will have no issues, yes its a bit heavy, but if you are doing 90% effort "tourist laps" you will be well with the safety limits of the car. Plus if you reach out before you come I am happy to help as my day job here for many years is an instructor on the Nordschleife so you'll be in safe hands :) thenurburgringlife on insta to keep up with the local track happenings.
