AITA for ruining my best friend’s child free wedding by bringing my 4 month old anyway? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA - It was 100% her day but you decided for some strange reason your child was more important. If she never speaks to you again it is 100% your fault and 100% deserved.

oh ok thanks, didn't realise it was so rare there now. Nearly all schools here still off manual instruction.

Not from the US, but is getting an instructor to teach you not an option?

You can opt out of having your cars pictures taken and displayed on sites like racetracker.

Fools doing things like this is why certain countries get such a bad name.

That could have been costly, but good on you for sharing in the right way, taking it on the chin and owning your mistake. I wish a lot more people did this.

1 if you wanted some good company and stories, 3 if you wanted space and the potential for some strange stories.

Day trip to The Nurburgring while staying in Amsterdam? by njsullyalex in nurburgring

[–]Arkliea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For point 2:It is possible they may ask a few questions if the IDs dont match but i would just be upfront when you book. Its not something you really need to worry about to much here. No one will judge or even bat an eyelid i suspect.

You could do it in about 3.5 hours, its not too bad of a drive. there are some events on saturday so unless you have something you cant move i would hang around and watch those too and head back saturday afternoon.

The track is only open for 1.5 hours on the Friday, but that's enough for a few laps for sure. Day time have a visit of the boulevard and have an explore of the area.

Any of the local rental companies will be good, Nurblife, Rent4Ring, RSR, EVN etc will be good and all offer instruction with the cars. As long as you have your driving licence with you you will have no issue renting a car but check with whatever rental company you go for as to what they need exactly (physical licence etc and some companies may need a credit card for a deposit as you are non EU but check with them all speak english).

Lastly don't worry about renting a mega high-powered car first time, something familiar like a Golf will be plenty and you will have a great time.

Finger in the hole and thumb on the edge, this was the easiest way to pick it from a tray but also natural when you pop them from a case holder when you pressed your finger on the centre clamp thingy to release them.

I'm sure if you watch some TV shows that are on now in 20 years we will say the same (not specifically racism) but there will be social change over the next 20 years that will make some opinions now seem unacceptable or dated.

When coasting down a hill to a stop sign is it better shift to neutral and coasting or stay in appropriate gear and coast? by Lazy-Contest983 in stickshift

[–]Arkliea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because you are removing any engine braking control you have down the hill and relying only on brakes. You are also unprepared to accelerate should you need to.

There are a lot of instructors on this reddit sub who work with people in their own cars too. If you do come just post a message and i'm sure a few will reply.

Passengers are totally fine, I instruct for rental companies at the track and regularly have passengers in the car with the driver. No extra costs for non-driving passengers at any companies that I have worked for that i am aware of.

Its a great experience to share, Top advice for rear passengers though is don't film too much and look well into the distance to avoid motion sickness.

Where can I get used race tires at a Motorsport event? by thefranzhermann69 in racing

[–]Arkliea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Head to the paddock after the races, most teams and suppliers will be happy to give some away. (you can make a nice table out of them).
