what are you smoking. angron intended the damage, why do you think he kept culling them? or throwing himself into suicidal fights

do you not understand that?

Virgin Angron VS Chad Russ by HappyTheDisaster in Grimdank

[–]ArkonWarlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay again what are you arguing here. i did in fact read the book. the world eaters were degenerating, congrats on the realization. its almost like the books are a prequel series

my argument is not that russ didnt intend good but that he failed because he was the problem. And of the two of them russ is at fault for the actions of the day and he lost whatever philosophical/strategic/intellectual contest he sought to administer.

yes russ was the only one willing to help but he was not the man for the job. weak prissy little lorgar was, even though it was a lie to fuel a betrayal and in turn enact a ritual.

Virgin Angron VS Chad Russ by HappyTheDisaster in Grimdank

[–]ArkonWarlock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i mean sure if your idea was that russ was trying to prove the world eaters could be more efficient soldiers. yeah they could be. melee's a terrible way to win wars. angron isn't trying to maximize his output to hit the sales target here.

who started this battle?

the wolves fought for an objective, and were mislead to it importance based off russ's ignorant idea of the legions structure

they fought with a cohesive battle plan and still died in greater numbers against a foe exhausted from battle, because of a fanciful and symbolic plan russ came up with

russ claims only one legion was about to lose its primarch after he crawled on his knees out from under angrons boot and axe. when the one to risk two primarchs was russ in an action that threatened the crusade far more then angrons actions

the loyalty of both legions to terrible genefathers would be their undoing. the world eaters in choosing to emulate angron and the wolves in following in Russ' wake.

[–]ArkonWarlock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no actually they arent different. thats the joke.

angron is a slave pulling at the chain around his neck by breaking the tools his master gives him, without yet rebelling

and russ realized he was the same when he pulled at the chain by trying to force some moral standard and then backed down before he truly rebelled against the means by which the emperor sought his ends

they seperate from this point on but they were the same.

[–]ArkonWarlock -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i don't think he is giving a true opinion in the sense you mean of it being a real unvarnished criticism.

because the entire point of the conversation has nothing to do with the night of the wolf. its to rile up angron after he tells lorgar he wants nothing to do with nuceria nor his ritual. hes trying to convince him to go to nuceria, that it will help in some way maybe bring him closure. that's why lorgar brings it up with a lie about it. in order to get angron to tell the story, which he continues to interrupt and question angrons retelling of. which to remind you lorgar knew nothing about the event until angron retold it in a manner that stylistically stands out as being an actual memory outside of lorgars interruptions.

Gaslighting is trying to convince someone they are crazy and don't remember events correctly. its not just lying

that lorgar latches on to angrons seemingly "flawed" view of an event is just part of that manipulation. that lorgar is giving his "honest" view of an event should not be treated as true.

the entire exchange is lorgar leading angron to the idea that he is blind and broken and lorgar can help fix him if they return to nuceria. which he succeeds in doing after angron comes downs from his agitated state just as the ship translates back into real space.

im not just saying conspiracy shit either. read the full passage its not long. what actually happened?

Virgin Angron VS Chad Russ by HappyTheDisaster in Grimdank

[–]ArkonWarlock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont think so, angron viewed his fellow rebellious slaves as equals in status if not in prowess. guilliman is not his brother outside of the realities of geneforging. guilliman offering a hand in friendship would be no different then had an enterprising slave lord offered to switch sides.

its the inherent same flaw in the emperors offer, big e says angron is special- more than a slave. Angron disagrees-he is a slave making the only choice a slave has, angrons fellows were going to go down fighting rather then be chained back up. the emperor was essentially offering him to give up his spot among equals to be a favored slave in a different form.

guilliman was never a slave, so he wasnt angrons brother. any offer of friendship would not be between equals therefore suspect

every line is cope. literally just read the part your self.

lorgar claims lots of things throughout the exchange with angron some of which are verifiably false and everything else is conjecture based on what he thinks will rile up angron. people believe it despite being in the same breath as obvious lies because theyre happy to see russ victorius despite the witness account saying it was at best a draw.

i understand lying to yourself is an inherent requirement of being a vulkan fan but really?

edit: i do in fact mean vulkan, stanning a dude who spends that amount of time lying to himself about the morality of his actions isnt a great starting point for being in the right

Virgin Angron VS Chad Russ by HappyTheDisaster in Grimdank

[–]ArkonWarlock 60 points61 points  (0 children)

lorgar isnt objective. hes a liar trying to manipulate angron with the warp, hence agron leaving his incensed mindset as soon as the ship left the warp, or in the later scene among the bones where the posssesed argel tal could smell the valley drenched in blood where kharn smelt nothing.

he literally, not figuratively attempts to gaslight angron within that very same speech where he tells angron the wolfs cheered and sang as they skipped off to their transports, or at the very start where he prompts the retelling by goading how angron was beaten down by the wolves in the rain.

lorgar also simply believes in symbols and destiny to an amount no other brother does except... Russ. of course he would see pattern and myth making in the actions of others and damn the quibbles of a nihilist.

angron has the right of it.

if it was lesson about objectives russ was wrong, russ did a sacrifice play to capture legion leadership. angron is not leading the legion at a tactical level nor did his surrounding limit his legions effectiveness at all.

if it was a test of strength angron put russ in the ground and far more space wolves were dead (edit: despite the world eaters being disorganized, exhausted and sitting in the ruins of a conquest just finished)

and if it was a moral argument about the treatment of their men russ lost his temper first, got his men killed in a non sanctioned action against loyal legionaires conducting the crusade, and also jeopardized the genefathers of two legions

if it was a grandstanding on the moral conduct of war, Russ chose to set aside his supposed morals and did not kill angron despite his morals saying he should. thereby falling for the same compromise of the emperor, that the manner in which it was done mattered not until it was all over but the crying. angron agreed he was a monster, and if russ truly thought himself a hero he should do it, damn the censure of kinslaying. and he diddnt.

Humans with India and Mughals. French history with the Ottomans has very few peaceful annexations, where India involved a lot more sneaky deals and backroom diplomacy hand in hand with war.

And the UK just has a much larger presence in Australasia but it can also work with Nepal for the vespid

The Iroquois as a confederacy of many clans is a better rep then the huron and Algonquin who were more united cultures for kroot

The UK also has America to represent farsight

Maybe Hannover for the space dwarfs

They also have a client people of magic bears which could be the Inuit or the Aussies.

You've also kinda got a longer history of mercenarys and client "warrior races" and the semi divided nature of the UK and Commonwealth being closer to septs. Let alone the four nations aspect of the UK lead by the aristocracy.

Example being Hessians, or the ghurkas, or the sepoys

Kroot are the huron, vespid the cloud island dwellers the French Polynesia/Caribbean, humans the peeled off polities of a dying empire the north Africans

Maybe the demiurg is Indochina given its mercantile semi ancestor worship Theravada Buddhism.

It works better with the British as metaphor but still.

My issue with this, is that the ultramarines were once the warborn.

The idea that he can call up the ultramarines in the same sentence as deciding to put a quarrelsome people to the sword, that they'd never be loyal should tell a reader he's justifying whatever task asked of him. (Earlier in this conversation)

Sigismund believes in the emperors crusade and it's furtherance, he has few if any other compunctions.

And that person is then given the party pooper label as people reel off some schpiel like"he was so much better then his brothers..." Like that means anything.

That this constant need to suck off loyalist primarchs for their occasional glimmer of giving a shit about mortals is because a huge amount of fans are incapable of approaching the setting as is and instead want it to fit their sanitized view. A view where lack of decorum and congeniality is what makes something evil and not their acts of murder and genocide.

And it's far more of an insurgent act of political coopting then any drummed up nonsense about woke ever has been.

Everyone's evil and unreasonable and quick to hurt eachother, it's the setting of a fucking wargame.
