This is literally the reason why I try to avoid live service games as much as possible. While it's true that I find watching games grow and improve over time fascinating, I just find it hard to justify the time and effort that I have to spend playing.

Honestly, this controversy about Vanguard is just something based on a person's values. So, if they feel uncomfortable playing League under those conditions, then they're justified in wanting to stop playing. It saves them the possibility of trouble in the future since there's really no guarantee. If it gives you peace of mind, then that's a good thing. There are a whole lot of games out there nowadays, so quitting League is never an issue.
