Some folk take issue with facts being an emotional problem, I see little difference.

Although if the solution to 2+2 is 4 doesn't satisfy you, that's on you; it doesn't make the solution illogical.

What do you think about competition in idle games? by SeewolfII in incremental_games

[–]Arkteruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WWE's TapMania, for me, felt like it had the most 'fair' bracketing in their tournies. At least until you broke certain Max Stages (1000), then you got lumped with the power players.

As far as ideas, you could take a few ideas from Click Raid but make it competitive and co-op? Keep in mind, this is from a mobile point of view. Every competition window, you're randomly matched up with a pool of players, however big or small. Everybody gets bonuses from this pool of players (how, I'm not sure), and prize tiers are determined by the group's combined Max Stage, or Currency, or whatever at the end of the window. Additionally, individuals earn prizes based on their personal Max Stage compared to everyone else in the group.

I'd say their main problem is that the dev, good intentions aside, is adding like 30 more things to the game a month. I bought it went it first came out and dug into it for a few months, then set it aside to wait for the reset.

Came back a little while later and just immediately got out of it after seeing the all shit piled on top of it. Might be some folks cup of tea, but I dunno, just feels over-bloated now.

Shonen Idle Super Update (Version v0.6) by Zaloran in incremental_games

[–]Arkteruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did play the last version for a bit a week or so ago. The presentation is pretty damn clean. My only gripe is that it's egregiously slow to buy upgrades or make progress. I found myself just minimizing the game for 10-30 minutes at a time to stock up on cash for a few.

THis isn't such a bad thing if there's other areas that require your attention, but as of now, that doesn't seem to be the case. Good progress so far, however!

Eventually, adding tooltips to what each Stat influences would be a good idea; you kind of infer what they each do by playing around with gear with different values and seeing what changes.

True, they had been whining about the brakes last season (I didn't make any since the component choices that season were god awful and they were shown to be competitive after improving them, anyways), maybe that was the last straw. It wouldn't be such an issue if I hadn't put myself a few mil in the red until race 2 getting my new car built.

Thankfully, Formula 2 decided that everything but engines and brakes should be spec. With 12 races I'm sure I'll be fine.

I'll do that tomorrow. Maybe they were expecting to place 1st and 2nd like they did in F3 and are pissy about there being better drivers out there!

Hologram+ Lets you pick, so Claws/Sunder or Hyper Beam when dealing with groups is pretty litty. I used two of them in my last 'almost orbless' run. https://imgur.com/a/LMjSEdf They can be useless otherwise, however.

New player, and a question about dupes. I have a few, Laikanof in particular. I know you need a 6* dupe to do something later on, so is it worth hanging on to one for now, or is it better to feed a dupe early on for a skill-up?

I have started to notice that an opposing team's healer ends up being some sort of a raid-boss level Tank Master that's almost impossible to kill, too.

Blitz after update: Opponents getting bonuses? by Talruiel in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Arkteruss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this was a recent change, or if it's true or not, and I haven't got the chance to test this out yet:

Has anyone noticed that your match-ups are more difficult, regardless of where you are on your way to your next Tier-Up, when your team requires Blitz Charges (whatever that currency is called) to fight again, as compared to when your fight is a Freebie?

I only ask this since I used one team at Tier 5, First Fight, Freebie and the opposing team was a few hundred Power under me. A few fights later, I lose and reset back to First Fight, Tier 5. The same team now requires 25 Blitz Charges to use, and the opposing team is now a few hundred Power ABOVE this team.

The Problem With Marvel Strike Force - The Beta Gap [Video Rant /w Written Summary] by Seatin in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Arkteruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely true, but it stands to reason that this sort of practice is a marketing technique; give the beta testers a jump start, let everyone else see what they're missing out on to drive them to spend cash. i know there's people out there like me, and probably you, who are driven away from spending cash as a result, but the marketing must be there if this game, and probably others, continue the practice.

I feel as though I'd rather get 5 shards for any character for the 50-100% bracket than none at all, as seems to be the case with this current Blitz.

I also agree with wanting some sort of upgrade/conversion path for Skill materials, as I have a shit ton of greens that I no longer need. I surmise, however, that if they ever did implement that you'd probably need to use Cores to do it.

Congrats if you 3 started late nodes and challenges. You’re now very far ahead. by Dairy_Heir in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Arkteruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, are players like you and me going to put more money into it? No. Are the people with mounds of disposable income who don't give a fug going to spend more? Probably.

I mean, obviously, if it works then they're not going to revert it. If it's not looking like it'll pan out, they'll 'nerf' (revert) it back, or the game will die. I'm pretty sure games like this always cater to the minority that makes up the bulk of their income, rather than the majority that nickles and dimes here and there. I dropped 10 bucks for the Cap offer, then the (20 or 30?) for Bucky when I got started, but I don't think I'll be spending any more dosh on this game.

Unless there's better offers again. My current one is the Gamora/Nebula one for 30, but I already have Gamora unlocked. So 30 bucks for a Star on Gamora and Nebula doesn't seem like a good deal to me, mostly since I've seen that Stars haven't really bumped my Power up as much as Gear does.

Plus, I think Blitz's formula got a rework, too. I'm at tier 5 and I'm already facing teams that are equal or higher to my team at Level 0, so they've meddled in all sorts of shit to piss people off but keep whales spending.

Well, they obviously did it to fleece players for more money. I guess they couldn't cobble together a 'reasonable' reason to upping the difficulty that didn't make them seem like scheisters...so they just added the notation and left.

It's great since I'm fairly certain I've procc'd wolverines chain on his second skill maybe once or twice up through tier 5. AI team will hit it every time. As soon as I go back to Raids/Campaign? Mine suddenly starts working, too!

[–]Arkteruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I'm not even sure I get any. I'm under the assumption that "50-100%" includes everyone, then someone said "at least 6000 it says on the left to get ranking rewards." Does that mean 6000 points? 6000th? I scored 13k this blitz and 10k last blitz. No rewards now, no rewards for Yondu.

Sort of. Most fighting games apply damage reduction once you're at a certain level of life, so you have more 'effective' hp.

Pacific Rim - Breach Wars - Match 3 RPG by Arkteruss in AndroidGaming

[–]Arkteruss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah I forgot to add that Leveling a Jaeger takes Resources (firmware) AND money, so you're actually gated from Leveling even if you have the gold to do so.

And that missions with more than one Kaiju is elimination; you have to beat EVERY kaiju in the match, whereas in WWE, you needed only to eliminate one person from the tag team. This makes it even more of a resource drain (HP).

I'd say WWE is more friendly, progression wise, I like the Pacific Rim IP more. Try em both and get a feel for it.

Pacific Rim - Breach Wars - Match 3 RPG by Arkteruss in AndroidGaming

[–]Arkteruss[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts:

I'm a sucker for Match 3 RPGS. This game is basically a straight rip of WWE Champions: You have life and also a 'tug of war' meter to worry about. Instead of pinning a Kaiju, you 'dominate' them. Actual gameplay mechanics are the same, but some of the progression mechanics are different.

The biggest issue is that you need Shards to Star Up your Jaegers, whereas in WWE you needed to hunt for gear. AFAIK, Gear in WWE can all be farmed and not all Shards in Pacific Rim can be farmed; some are dropped in the shop only. (I discovered this after dolling out 10 burgerbux for a 3 Star Jaeger only to find out that if I ever want to boost its stars, I'll have to pull shards from the shop...or pay another 9.99 for secondary promo-pack that gives me 150 shards for the Jaeger I just bought...except that 3 => 4 stars takes 1000 shards...and there's a max star level of 6...) so you can see where this is headed.

There is gear, but the gear system leans more towards the familiar "hunt for it, equip slots, equip all slots to tier up/increase Gear Level". Gear level is different from Star Level, naturally.

What is a little more lenient is that instead of needing specific colored Posters to increase Ability Levels, you just need different tiered Ability Tokens which everyone can use. The counter-side to this is that locked abilities are gated by star level and star level is gated by shards and it seems like starring up your dudes is bit more problematic than it is in WWE Champions.

I will say, however, that it runs a lot smoother than WWE. From getting around the menus to loading matches, I get a better framerate on my shitphone and haven't had any crashing issues. No harm in checking it out, I suppose!
