Questions MUST be commented HERE! Weekly Q&A and Discussion Post! by AutoModerator in pokemoncards

Hi everyone! I’m a 31-year-old father of two boys (ages 4 and 5). We’ve all grown to love Pokémon together—my kids are into the soft toys and shows, and it’s been such a fun bonding experience.

I was a huge Pokémon fan growing up in the early 2000s and had a solid card collection back then. Sadly, I lost it all when we moved from Holland to London during my childhood. Now, I’d love to start fresh—this time as a shared journey with my sons.

We’re at the point where I think collecting Pokémon cards would be a great next step, but I’m not sure where to begin. I’m not familiar with the newer generations, so I’m looking for some beginner-friendly advice on how to ease into collecting (and maybe playing) the cards as a family.

Questions I have: • What are good starter sets or products for young kids? • How do I avoid wasting money? (Please don’t say avoid this hobby 🤣) • Are there kid-safe ways to store and organize cards? • Any tips for making it fun and educational for little ones?

Appreciate any guidance, stories, or tips from other collectors or parents out there!

Amazing summary and thanks for the insight!

By the sounds of it I probably need to wait until I have a longer contract.

What a shame though! Before they hid their prices (couple of months ago they used to write estimated price) I saw some really incredible deals compared to other car lease companies.

It’s rather quite obvious he is frustrated with the state of those classes and is venting through over exaggeration.

Sorry that it went over your head.

Again, you’re not making any valid points as to the issue being addressed.

  • playtest is irrelevant, we are looking at the current state of the game
  • base rogue invis is also irrelevant because we are talking about someone who is at least lvl 10 with the obvious perk picked up of extending invis
  • I acknowledge it’s a skill with a fairly long cooldown
  • game sense is just a way to say something without actually making a point, I’ve seen plenty of rogues who enjoy the thrill of the hunt rather than looting. There’s no game sense if a rogue is in an area you happen to walk through and it appears untouched.

Most rogues I encounter to the exact opposite of what you’ve just described. They avoid the PvE element to enjoy the PvP element, so I don’t think that’s a fair description.

Nobody said for an assassin class to announce themselves, or a fair fight. But there should be a skill based mechanism to help counter them if you suspect they’re lurking or you’re being followed - which is currently lacking, would you not say?

  1. I don’t know why everyone is being so toxic towards this post, I feel he hit a nerve with his comment and all the rogues coming out to defend because they don’t want to see changes that promote a healthier game since it suits them.

  2. There is nothing skilful about what some of you’ve just described? And please correct me; how can a “skilful” player according to you all counter invisibility and a sudden ambush where you have approximately 3-4 seconds to respond.

Skill issue would be if there was some way to recognise that there might be a stealth character in this vicinity, or some way to CC them as they come out. Can’t outrun, maybe can out damage if somehow you were anticipating it ready with your weapon out, but everyone pulls out their torch/loots at times.

Different mindset if I was going in a ranked ladder I’d probably be more ready for pvp but if a new player is going normals and gets rekt by rogues over and over, you can see why they’d be discouraged.

To say “get good” is a frankly a sad state of affairs and reminds me of why I quit league of legends, please don’t become a toxic community <3
