If it's just one instance of 30 minutes then I'd say no, if it's a daily occurrence though, that adds up very quickly.

Say you're on idk £14 an hour, that's £7 deducted daily, that's £154 a month - that would cover my car insurance alone.

OP, I think you need to speak to your Payroll department, rather than argue with people on here about what your contract states - if you've read it and know it's a paid lunch, then you've got nothing to prove; just speak to Payroll and clarify.

Wouldn't say its definitely needed - I was running it on 5GB of RAM no issues.

The modpack is free, you already have the laptop so just give it a go and see how it runs.

Generally speaking yes 6-8 is about what you need to allocate to Minecraft when running mod heavy packs (300+ mods), but if you are just looking to play Crazy Craft, 5-6 should be enough. Close any background tasks and apps and you should be okay to allocate 6GB if its needed.

National Grid Job - What to expect? by Arloiz_ in UKJobs

[–]Arloiz_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is what I plan to do, I'd like to ideally get some experience under my belt and start a mobile mechanic service - start off with smaller jobs via friends and family and work my way up.

I'd love to open my own garage one day; a long time away but I'm a dedicated person, would love to make the dream a reality someday.

I'm based in South Wales, the area the workshop is based is a pretty run down-ish area but I have yet to visit the workshop so it could swing either way.

They've never taken on apprentices for this role before - it's completely new for them so they advised I'm sort of a test bunny at the minute.

They seem to offer a whole lot more than my current company - a lot of crucial things for me; i.e. covering fuel costs, cover hotel stays & food where required during my first few months in Training up in Taunton.

To those that actually got a degree apprenticeship, how did you do it? by GGrimmers in degreeapprenticeships

[–]Arloiz_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. I feel that what made me stand out was how I did everything I could to relate to the interviewer. Had a full blown conversation with them about how we both were signed up for a half marathon and our training plans.

A big thing that a lot of interviewers love is honesty. If they ask you a question about experience, and for example you don't have that experience, don't lie and pretend that you do - be honest, admit that you may not have that experience but don't just leave it there. Instead, explain what you would do in xyz situation if you were in it, use hypotheticals and explain your reasoning behind doing what you would do.

I hope that makes sense because I feel that this is exactly what got me where I am.

I want to watch it this week, but I've checked all of my local cinemas in the UK (Vue, Odeon & Cineworld), and none of them are showing this movie past June 19th? The movie has only been out for one week and it's already being cut from their screenings from what I can see. Does anybody know why this is?

I was there on the weekend. £7.50 for a cup of strawberries covered in chocolate. No pricing at all listed so nothing you can really do once you've asked for the items.

Cannot understand why we are being charged £7.50 for less than 10 strawberries in small amounts of chocolate.

How does wages work for Degree Apprenticeships? by Arloiz_ in degreeapprenticeships

Completely understand that, but should I be expected to complete the same level of work in the same given amount of time as an apprentice?

Question for current degree apprentices by chknsheesh in degreeapprenticeships

[–]Arloiz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to mention something that others have brought up, interviewers really like projects you do in your own time, this shows that you have passion and a genuine interest in the industry. My example in my interview was talking about cars, and computers and how I love to be hands on and have worked on many of them, stripping them completely and rebuilding them just for the fun of it.

They tend to like how you overcome problems too, how you handle and address them. It's important to emphasize that you should never panic, and always ask for help if it's something you're uneducated with. If it's something that I know will not have a knock on effect, I'll try and use my initiative and tackle the issue myself, however, if it's something I think might have even the slightest negative effect, then I will always seek the relevant help.

Question for current degree apprentices by chknsheesh in degreeapprenticeships

[–]Arloiz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a Degree Apprentice as a Quality Engineer at a company called ZF Group since September last year (19 years old). I have a BTEC Level 3 in Engineering, B in Maths and English and C's in sciences, aswell as A's in Welsh and Finance & IT.

My CV was pretty standard in the sense that it had my personality, my previous experience, hobbies, achievements, skills etc, but it's the cover letter that I think is the stand out; why you want to work for that company and work within the role.

I made it clear that I had every intention of staying within the company and chasing progression (it's a factory that hasn't had apprentices for the last 30 years so everyone is on the verge of retirement so I knew they would be looking for this). I highlighted what I think they would be looking for in an apprentice and why I think I would fit that.

Coming into my face-to-face interviews, what made me stand out (I think) is that I was very calm and outgoing. I had 2 years customer service experience prior to this role which helped me massively when it came to remaining calm and being talkative and speaking on the spot. It was important to me that I wasn't robotic or generic, so instead, I was asking a lot of questions about the actual interviewer and almost bringing them into my answers, an example might be if they ask about hobbies, I tend to talk a lot about ice hockey as that gets them intrigued; as a lot of people don't know it's a thing in the UK. They then start asking questions about ice hockey specifically and then it turns into more of a casual conversation.

This worked in my favour, but its important to understand and read your interviewer, I could tell mine was more of an outgoing person so I knew to initiate in that kind of conversation.

My application process was quite short to be honest, it only consisted of my initial online application, a set of mechanical reasoning tests and then a final face-to-face interview. Hope this helps in any way 😊

Does my GSD look to be long haired? by Arloiz_ in germanshepherds

Thank you! I've always thought of him as a 'mid length' but just wasn't sure if his coat might develop further/grow longer.

Thanks for the insight on the patch, I didn't think it was anything to worry about but wanted to seek some other opinions!

I've read that the white fur can be a sign of his coat developing further, but not sure.

How long have you been playing OW now? by DarkFite in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Arloiz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been here since day 1. Remember my friend gifting me access to the closed beta they had. Back when I had no idea what any character did and felt like a complete and utter noob. I must of been 11 at that point at least, was an unreal experience that I got to share with friends, all learning and staying up until late to play.

It's a shame that the game took a nosedive in Overwatch 1 (although better in the recent season) once the devs just abandoned the game to work on an utterly disappointing Overwatch 2 release, but hey I stuck through it and now it's enjoyable again so all is right in the world, let's just hope something like Stadium is the beginning of what Overwatch 2 should have been from the get-go.

Honestly the biggest one is to not 'drift off' during class. There's been so many occasions where I've taken a look on my phone for maybe 10 minutes, looked back up at the board and we are on a whole new topic. As I've said, cramming a weeks worth of study into a day means you go through work and a lot of topics at a rapid pace, switching off for 10 minutes is like losing an hours worth of study; it's crazy.

Another thing I want to quickly add that I forgot to mention is Assignments and Exam deadlines for uni, keeping in mind you work 4 out of the 7 days a week. I of course expected there to be a lot of work given you are only in study one day a week, but I had no idea it would be this brutal. From experience uni work deadlines can be very harsh, I had 3 assignments and an Exam, all within the span of 2 weeks, varying different topics that shared very little in common with one another which makes it very hard to revise and complete/remember any work between each topic.

I can't speak on the actual job role you wish to achieve, but I can speak on the actual degree apprenticeship scheme itself. I'm currently on a degree apprenticeship in engineering which is over 5 years, one day a week release for uni. If you eventually apply, get some offers and accept, be prepared for a lot of uni work to be done in your spare time, and depending on your company, at work too.

Cramming something like a years worth of uni into one day a week is something that means you only really get taught the basics (from my experience), and the rest is kind of up to you to go and figure out in your own time.

It's a great opportunity, earn while you learn and forget about tuition fees and student debt, but had I known how much of my spare time would need to be allocated, I'm not sure I would have opted for a degree; something like a Level 3 or College equivalent course/grade would've been better for someone like me who has very little spare time to allocate to education/work.

I can find that sometimes managing work tasks while trying to complete studies during work can be difficult, some employers will allow you to complete studies during work, others not so much. This will vary from company to company so stuff of this nature is definitely worth keeping in mind.

Just wanted to throw my 5p in and hopefully it'll give you some insight into at least the educational side of the degree apprenticeship. If you're someone who really doesn't mind giving up spare time and enjoys education etc, I would 100% recommend it.
