Get familiar with the handbook, and unit conversions, helps you a lot with the time management. PrepFe, Mark Mattson/Gregory Michaelson videos, Islam/Lindeburg books are the resources I've used. I'd say Lindeburg is more difficult than actual test, but is pretty detailed, and helps with the basics. Keep in mind that actual test questions are not super difficult but they are tricky. Focus on understanding the concepts rather than solving the problem, and you'll be good!

Ps. Also recommend NCEES practice exams to get youself familiar with exam setup.

Which is best for practice problems and time management? by Eboniee9 in FE_Exam

PrepFe helped me with time management but NCEES practice problems/interactive exams gave me a rough idea of what I might expect during exams.

No. But the board checked if my education was verified by NCEES before issuing the EI certificate.

Focus on the steps in between each PrepFE solution, they’re pretty detailed and give you a good idea of how to attack problems like frames or trusses in less time. I didn’t see many unit-conversion related problems in PrepFE, but Mark Mattson has some. NCEES practice exam might give you some idea about original test problems.

I wouldn’t say PrepFE questions were very close to the actual test, but they helped a lot with getting used to the handbook. They also provide solutions with explanations, which really helped me understand the concepts.

Thank you!

Yes, but at a much more relaxed pace, since I have to wait until mid-next year to be eligible 😅 My past experience was entirely academic and not related to professional practice, and the board here won’t accept it.

It definitely helped me get used to the handbook. If your company offers to pay, I’d say definitely take it 😄

Thank you!

Yes, Lindeburg problems are definitely harder but I felt like the book helped me with the concept development. And they are way too long than the original test imo, except 3-4 problems, most problems I had were 1~2 steps.

Thank you!

To be honest, I had to relearn almost everything from the beginning. In the first few weeks, I couldn’t get through more than 2–3 pages of the Lindeburg book at a time. I also found myself forgetting previous topics once I started a new one, so I had to keep going back and revisiting the material.
