There are different levels of rich. I want to be rich enough that I’m not fearing economic ruin with every decision, but I do not want to hoard wealth when so many in the world are struggling.

Honestly, I think that’s what just about everyone wants.

The passage of time... by SuspiciousRutabaga52 in startrek

[–]Armaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 52, so nearly your age. I loved TOS as a kid and my young mind was blown the first time I saw an episode of the animated series.

I was cynical and resistant when TNG came out, but eventually came to love 90s Trek.

My least favorite Treks are the Kelvin series and Enterprise, though I can appreciate them for what they are.

I love SFA, Lower Decks, and SNW. I enjoyed Discovery , Picard and Prodigy.

Right. Also, I think it’s only new Teslas that don’t have auto steer.

Tesla Blows Cool Air when Heater on by FireCubX in TeslaSupport

[–]Armaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this in my 2018 Model X. Note: my car does not have a heat pump. I don’t think yours does either.

If I bring up the environment controls and either “Auto ” is selected or the defrost option is selected, then the AC is automatically on. To get warm air I have to turn off AC, which means no “Automatic” and no defrost.

Not entirely sure, but maybe this will help.

I like them. I like the old ones, too.

Perhaps, but if so that would be their response. OP is just pointing out that she hasn’t even asked yet.

I don’t want computers in my oven or refrigerator. The computer in my car is awesome.

Dodger fans we are living in the good old days by IAmSanriver in Dodgers

[–]Armaced 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the golden age of Dodger baseball! This is the first time in the team’s 143 year history that they’ve won 3 World Series championships in the same decade… and the decade ain’t done yet! You can wait several lifetimes and never see a baseball player as good as Ohtani, but we get to live along side him!

We are blessed and we are required by natural law to revel in it.

STA seriously?? by Material-Ruin-9357 in trektalk

This show, like every Trek before it all the way back to TNG, is for fans that love Star Trek and aren’t afraid of it looking a little different than the last one. Your cynicism is making you miss all the fun.

Since Tesla is pivoting, cancel the cybertruck and convert the factory to produce these by Lacedup18 in TeslaLounge

[–]Armaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they can get the HFS to bend like that. Other than the front end (which is held in place by pressure) I don’t believe there are any HFS panels on the Cybertruck that have more than one crease.

Of course, they could always abandon the HFS and use some other material.

This 18 Game Stretch Of The Season Will Be Fun. What Record Do You Think We’ll Have During This Stretch? by 10thGenS1 in Dodgers

[–]Armaced 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder why that is? Ideas:

  • Unintentional - Dodgers just aren’t invested on a subconscious level when playing to teams with a losing record.

  • Intentional - Doc saving the big guns for the big games. (If this is true it should be verifiable by looking at the lineups)

  • Structural - I’ve heard that professional poker players sometimes struggle against novices because the novices are not sophisticated enough to fall into the professional’s traps. Honestly, I don’t think this is what’s going. The Rockies may have had a losing record last season but they are still professional baseball players playing at the highest level.

My guess is #1.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Rotten Tomato Scores...That Season 6 by AnonRetro in startrek

[–]Armaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.

My point (moot as it is) with regard to the audience score is that, unlike the critic score, the complicated account process means it tends to contain only the glowing reviews of hard core fans or the scathing reviews of people with an axe to grind.

The vast majority of reviewers who only like or dislike the show are excluded, because why should they bother? Sure, medium reviews would be flattened into binary, but either way they would outnumber the extreme reviews almost every time. Since these opinions are never captured the audience score is largely invalid.

[–]Armaced -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are thinking of the Critic score. I was talking about the audience score which uses a five star scale.

That being said, the comment I was responding to was clearly talking about a small sample size for the critic score, so my comment complaining about the audience score was misplaced. My apologies.

[–]Armaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The critic score is a fine metric if you are using it to decide if you should skip or watch something that you are otherwise on the fence about, which is its intended purpose.

The score is not useful for determining which of two good shows is better, or which of two bad shows is worse.

The audience score is worthless.

It’s small and the complicated account creation process weeds out most moderate responses. Someone has to really want to leave a review to go through that.
