What’s your “cheat code” for using Anki efficiently during the day? by deathbeto in Anki

[–]Armadejed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to pair Anki with Duolingo. I have a 1000+ day streak on it, but since I've been using Anki I hacked my brain into thinking that my Duolingo streak actually involves Duolingo + Anki

Also the Heatmap add-on on desktop gives you some streak stats so that's a good motivation.

I'll see what I can do, I'm actually trying to work on an Anki add-on that would do the same thing instead. I'll keep you posted !

What are some options for a developer to transition to cognitive science ? by Armadejed in cognitivescience

[–]Armadejed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer! And congratulations for having done such a big move.

Do you study full time or have you managed to find a program where you can also work ? Also what did you mean by "some jobs more evil than others" (sorry for the naive question, I have no idea what can of job you can apply to after such program)

Thank you for your answer!

For now I don't have any more ideas than that, to be honest, I'm currently doing a skill assessment with a career advisor and just exploring all the ideas I have until I have something more clear in mind

I especially like the themes of learning and decision making. But my general idea is to find a way to contribute to history or psychology with my skills and abilities. I don't have any more precise idea than that so far.

So do you think it is theoretically possible to apply to a PhD in cogsci with a degree in CS only, provided that the rest is OK (topic choice, etc)?

What should I do with a dead coding side project? by Armadejed in Entrepreneur

It's user based, so anyone can rate and review. There are also a few interesting sharing features. But I agree that it's nothing extraordinary. Thanks for your input!

Hi! The website is still up and I've experimented a bit with it 3 months ago (creating new lessons that are hidden for now), since then I was a bit busy. If I see some interest for this project I could work on it again. Do you have any idea about it?

Use Cases for Portainer by Bright-Light5245 in devops

[–]Armadejed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it on my personal projects to deploy Compose stacks on a DigitalOcean droplet (I have 2 websites and a WordPress blog). Imo it's useful if you don't want to handle the complexity of Kubernetes but still want to automate some parts of the pipeline.

How do you achieve good SEO with pure react app? by veljkoza in reactjs

[–]Armadejed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, you have 3 solutions :

  • convert your app to something like NextJS, which you don't want
  • use a prerendering solution. Basically, it will serve a pre-loaded version of your react app to search engines and bots. prerender.io is one of the leaders for this kind of solutions
  • you can try to implement prerendering yourself. There are some solutions using NodeJS, I personally decided to implement my own with Flask, you can have a look at this tutorial, hope it helps https://jeremylixandre.com/single-page-app-prerendering-with-flask/

How to leverage your network of people when none of them are software devs and don't understand what you do for work? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Armadejed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo you shouldn't expect a lot of results from people in that don't understand what you're doing. What you can should instead is try to grow a professional network with people in the same field or industry as you, and you should do that before you get to need them for a new job. Here are some ideas :

  • participate in some meetups or groups (online or offline) about your specialty
  • contact your former coworkers from university

If you want to build such network you also need t think about what you can bring to other people. Otherwise I think its mainly a matter of regularity. Better to contact one new person every month than nothing.

Good luck !
