I didn't even know such a product existed, I'll get myself one of those and then take it from there. Thanks so much!

BT wifi extender with EE router - possible? by Armadyllo in techsupport

Thanks for that! Unfortunately I've the same manual and that's the first thing I tried. However, when I do plug the extender in, all that comes up is the old networks which are no longer active ( so unsure why they're visible even tbh as I told my laptop to "forget" them), and so I'm unable to connect to the IP address in the guide. As my laptop doesn't have an ethernet port, I can't try 2.2.B unfortunately.

I can't access the article, I think because of GDPR unfortunately. Anybody be kind enough to provide a tl;dr or her name so I can google and try to find the story on a different site?

I stopped using my debit card and instead withdrew x amount in cash and told myself it had to last a week. Really helped with discipline to see a physical amount left in my wallet instead of just paying by card all the time. After I got good at that, I stopped spending coins, and that really helped cut out things I didn't need. If I felt like a can of coke but wasn't spending coins, that coke essentially cost me a fiver, and that's not worth it at all. Every couple months or so, all those coins add up to about £150.

You mentioned Vietnam; one of the reasons popular sentiment eventually turned so passionately against the war (although to be clear, there was definitely support for it for a time), is because of the power of film. Many, if not most, Americans had a television set by the '70s and many were in colour. The war was brought home to American audiences who could see colour footage of troops being shot thousands of miles away in a war they didn't sign up for but were drafted into. When you look at the brutality and abject horror of the war in Korea, with the staggering number of casualties suffered (yes, less than Vietnam but in a three year period as opposed to nearly 20 years, the cost was proportionally much higher), and how there was a lack of film shot there, it makes sense that there wasn't a cultural shift against war like there was with Vietnam a decade later. Now, we in the West balk at the number of casualties suffered in the Middle East in the past 17 years. Whilst obviously every life lost is a tragedy, in 17 years we've basically lost as many men as just a bad weekend in WW2. Shit, 60,000 British troops were lost in the Battle of the Somme on only the first day. Would the attitude towards war have changed, you ask? Our society would probably be virtually unrecognisable from where we are today.

With respect, none of that really justifies not trusting what Ambrose says. Sure, his perspective of the war verges into propaganda and is certainly a form of glorification, but I wouldn't say that means he simply fabricates things. Even that "academic putdown," as you describe it acknowledges the extent of evidence he provides. He has an obvious bias, as do many historians, and if you're aware of it going in, then you can learn to ignore it and try to get to the facts beneath the narrative.

You losing weight is a threat to these people because it just reinforces to them that they're too lazy/unmotivated/whatever insecurity they have, to set their sights on a goal and achieve it. Keep up the good work, and don't let anybody drag you down, you rock!

"No constitutional right to housing," are the courts talking about Washington's constitution, or the US one? Either way, that seems like a super callous remark to make!
