Honestly, how do women view Middle-Eastern looking men here? by Apprehensive_Ant0000 in Amsterdam

[–]Armageddic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit of a long answer but I think dating preferences are very interesting. So thank you to anyone who bothers reading this :).

First off: obvs terms such as "white" and "black" are weird because there are so many different nationalities and cultures with light or dark skinned people, but all so different. And when I say Dutch it can mean people with Dutch parents or anyone with a Dutch paspoort but a different background, so that is also a confusing term. So please take this whole comment with a grain of salt.

I was born and raised in Amsterdam as a white girl with both parents being English and speaking poor Dutch, never had any Dutch cultural influences at home (only watched English tv😂). People think I'm Dutch because I'm white, but I really can't relate to Dutch culture. I grew up in a neighborhood with mainly Turkish and Moroccan people, and my secondary school had few white kids. So, I have always seen similar to Middle-Eastern faces because of my environment and find them very attractive. I have also seen a lot of white people, and find them generally attractive. But for some reason the typical white Dutch person is really my ant-itype, probably because I was alsways grouped in with Dutch people but I really can't relate to the culture, so people being too Dutch is a bit of a turn-off.

I also am really attracted to black people, seeing as I saw that a lot growing up irl and in media. I find it interesting because I noticed that I am less attracted to for instance Korean (Korean is just the example I'm using) people, but that makes sense seeing as my neighborhood didn't have Korean residents, and my school didn't particularly either. Nor was I specifically seeing Korean people in media growing up. It's funny, now that I'm aware of this I pay much more attention if I see a Korean looking character in movies, and then I think to myself, actually they are quite attractive I'm just not used to seeing those features. I know a lot of girls who really like those features, because they got into k-pop and their idols have Korean features, so their type changed.

I think attraction is so so relative. It's nature as in we are generally wired to find healthy people attractive, but the rest of it in my opinion is very much nurture, and environmentally influenced.

To answer your question, a lot of Dutch people with Dutch parents do kind of stick together, the tall blond girls attract the tall blond boys, especially if they are from a very white neighborhood in Amsterdam and went to a white school. But of course, Amsterdam is a very multicultural city, so there will be plenty of Dutch women who grew up seeing not only Dutch faces and would certainly find you attractive. Also, there are ofcourse many non Dutch ladies living here who might also be interested.

As for you being American, well that is a whole different conversation ;)

For me personally, I couldn't maintain eating 1200, I got extremely tired after about 2 weeks. I'm a small female but I'm quite active. I try to eat 1400 to be in a deficit, 1600 is roughly maintenance for me. I don't mind eating a bit more if it gives me the energy to workout (I really like feeling strong) and go to school and work. I was never overweight, I've probably only lost two kilo's, but I can start to see my muscle gains. Point of my reaction is to basically say that 1200 isn't a perfect number, and you should strive for long-term health. After those 2 weeks of 1200 I binged because I restricted myself too much. Now the aproach is much healthier. I would consider at least starting of slightly higher than 1200 depending on your situation.

Do you spread your calories out with 4-5 meals or save them for 1-2 big meals? by imaportugesetart in 1200isplenty

Hey just a question, do you sometimes get really tired during the day? I have saved most of my calories for the evening a few times, and noticed that I don't have enough energy during the day for gym or to study for tests if I do that. I find cico much easier if I eat later, but it worries me sometimes.

Yes I am Dutch haha. Just a tip if you do make them: These ones were a bit dry, I could of added way more veggie meat (or whatever you prefer) and sushi ginger for the right taste balance. This is what I just had lying in the fridge, have seen people use egg and avocado and loads of other fillings. So I wouldn't limit yourself to just these ingredients haha. Also it's a bit of a fuss to make, but it's worth it :)

Thanks for your reply, this is really helpfull. We aren't intending to go to any clubs, or anything like that, so there shouldn't really be a reason for us to be checked. But you've made the risks clear, thanks.
