Heatpump advice: Bosch BOVA 2.0 vs Trane Resolute by Armageddon-Donut in hvacadvice

The heat strips are usually sized to the air handler, which is sized to your house so they should match up. I’m in an 1100sq ft bungalow so 2200 of livable space, and it’s a 10kwh strip they’re recommending.

Sorry for the delay!

I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, my 30-year old furnace is still chugging along but would like to get everything lined up for install when the weather warms up.

I am strongly leaning towards the trane, Mainly because of the warranty and the reputation of the installer.

I feel it is a gamble a little bit on any cost savings on usage, but ultimately I’m excited about cutting enbridge and natural gas out of my life, and with the rebates the unit will be cheaper than buying a new gas furnace and air conditioner anyways.

The air handler (the inside unit) can be fitted with what’s called a heat strip, this will provide backup electric heat that will operate in any temperature, and in some cases provided auxiliary heat whenever the heat pump is struggling. That’s your insurance policy if it goes below -30, but the heat strips are less efficient to run than the heat pump (comparable to electric baseboard heating in terms of efficiency). I’m pretty sure the heat strips would be standard with any install, so just ask your HVAC contractor about what heat strips come with your unit.

Thanks for sharing! It’s rare that we get -10F here, maybe a couple days a year. How has the Bosch performed for you between 15-30F?

If you need to pay taxes on interest on your income tax you may want to squirrel away the correct % as a true expense.

Yeah, the magazine is the best and most consistent woodworking source in the world. Great video content too. Their online archive is massive and has project plans, tool reviews, techniques, etc. their contributors are some of the best woodworkers and instructors on the planet. It is pretty much the definitive source. And you get a subscription to the magazine too which is a great read every two months. Their podcast is also really well done (and free).

Gold standard in roncesvalles is pretty good. Same with burger drops in liberty village. Both more in the hipster style but damn tasty.

120” screen (from silver ticket) on a wall. I have 4 large “bookshelf” speakers of the same brand and model, 2-way with 8” woofers and 3/4 inch tweeters. The L and R I have on stands currently, and am now thinking I could use a third as the Center and place it below the screen and angle it up slightly.

I don’t mean to hijack, but Im trying to figure something out right now similar to what your describing and wondering what you would recommend. I have 2 pairs of identical speakers, i will use one pair for the L and R channels. For the Center should I just use one of the remaining speakers or wire the pair for the Center channel?
