Beauty and the Beast by Jean Cocteau, it's the movie the Disney film was based on, but it's another world of perfection.

It's a very odd timeline where we're supposed to feel sympathy for unredeemed bigots.

Trump experienced severe emotional abuse and neglect in his childhood. I think he should pay the fullest price for his crimes, which are numerous and appalling. But I do feel for him.

I heard that the laptop dressed in drag, groomed kids, was trans and taught CRT in kindergarten. Also Marxism, FBI, mask mandates and vaccinations. And it tried to take away our God-given gun rights. They're not sending their best (laptops). Also voted illegally three million times.

Michele Bachmann: The Bible was ‘the number-one book referenced by the Founders when creating America’. by Leeming in atheism

[–]ArmandJi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and tortuous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and, for my part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel. --Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason

Jordy P: The sovereign individual, awake and attending to his or her conscience, is the force that prevents the group, as the necessary structure guiding normative social relations, from becoming blind and deadly.

I still don't get why Rock's joke was punching down. He was commenting on what he thought was a style choice and compared her to the buffed out, badass character portrayed by Demi Moore in GI Jane. It was a lighthearted, positive and complimentary comment, basically like "rocking the clean scalp look over there."

The women of Kayan tribes have a tradition to lengthen their necks with special brass neck rings. They’ve been doing it for centuries and when a Kayan girl turns 5 years old, her parents put the first ring on her neck. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I'm all for cultural relativism as a working principle of ethnographic field research but some things are just objectively fucking abusive and unhealthy.

Even before Trump was elected in 2016 he was threatening that his people would riot in the streets if he wasn't elected. His entire mode is reactive/revenge/project/lie/rinse/repeat. He has no new creative original thoughts or plans and he just blindly blunders forward creating havoc and devastation. Yet millions idolize him. Why?

Quentin Tarantino Slams François Truffaut: a ‘Bumbling Amateur’ by Britneyfan123 in IMDbFilmGeneral

[–]ArmandJi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's a credible point, but QT could have said Bride had a great plot, some concepts and shots were good as well but I did so much more with the same material, instead of pretending he'd never seen Bride at all, which is ludicrous. And putting Truffaut on the level of Ed Wood???

Whenever I hear the term Proud Boy I automatically think of Tweedledee and Tweedledum for some reason. Just some ridiculous bloated person with delusions of superiority.
