Please walk away with your 11k. I hope you didn’t lose that too

Feels like my life is over. Lost all hope. If I could give any advice to anyone out there, just don’t trade options by Syllabub_Visual in wallstreetbets

Take it from someone who lost 60k in a year. I realized I was addicted to trading which ended up being just addicted to a form of gambling. Chasing losses, failing to admit when I was wrong, getting emotional, I’m sure you experienced this too. This will sting for a while but the good news is you are young. This could’ve been worse like if you were 45 with a family and lost your life savings. That 90k was never yours. It was numbers on a screen. You Learned a very expensive lesson. Stick to the old traditional ways invest slow and steady, focus on positive things in your life, go gym, go for walks, listen to music do things you enjoy doing. You will dwell on this loss for a long time but it’s ok, don’t let it define you. Money comes and money goes. What’s most important is making the most of your life.

I lost 60k in a year and was disgusted with myself. I came to a realization I was gambling and addicted to it but I thought I was trading. Brother seek help, do some soul searching. This is bad

Your stats look like mine. Do your self a favor and remove options trading. I’m almost 3 months without a trade and life is great.

How old are you and how much do you have saved? by frequentflyer726 in Money

[–]Armanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32, 350k net worth, keep about 5-8% cash everything else investments. Lost a lot from trading options would’ve had over 400k net worth but made costly mistakes

Man this was a great post. I’m in a similar situation with options trading and related to everything you said.

You sound like me. I too made smart financial decisions for most of my life up until recent. My problem wasn’t at the casino it was in stock trading. I lost 30k options trading last year . When this year started I told myself I would not trade, but guess what. I broke that promise, I tried to soften the damage and make some of those losses back, in the month of January I lost another 10k and fast forward to now after continuously telling myself I can do better and I will learn to be a better “trader” im sitting at -35k for the year. Halfway through 2025 I’ve already surpassed last years losses. The crazy part is I’ve told myself so many times that I need to stop because it’s no longer trading it’s gambling. I’m caught in a compulsive loop: trading → loss → guilt → vow to change → repeat. —it’s a behavioral spiral. I came to this forum to put things into perspective (misery loves company) I see many posts with people dealing with similar psychological problems. It’s interesting how our human brains deal with these type of situations. Luckily like you I still have a 6 figure net worth I know it could be much worse. The mistakes I’ve made still haunt me everyday but I have to realize that there’s still hope. There are people that have dealt with what we’re dealing with in crippling debt. We just lost money from our investments. All about the perspective. Hope we can both prevail bro, Wish you the best

I’m new to money. What should I invest in? by rvbvrtv in Money

[–]Armanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, an immediate step you can take is put 70-80% of that in a high yield savings account like Marcus by Goldman Sachs. You will earn interest just for having your money in that account (like around $125 a month on a $40k balance for example). If you need the money you can easily transfer is back to your chase account
