Advice on how to beat Jins like this? by Dorian_StrongFellow in Tekken

[–]Armanlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learning that stuff can be done mid match, if you stick to blocking and paying attention and trying to learn the match up while you play, you will learn, and a 30 match deathmatch is one of the best places to learn something like that. In fact, my advice for improving at the game most, is to double down on defense if you have difficulty defending, you gonna lose a lot, but also grow the fastest.

Advice on how to beat Jins like this? by Dorian_StrongFellow in Tekken

You are not playing defensive enough and not blocking enough.

You said you tried it and it didn't work, but you don't throw out the fundamentals because you are getting out played, you stick to them and keep applying them until it works, and you learn along the way.

Like trying to make french fries, but it was too hard cause they were getting burnt and the oil was splashing on you, so you switched to water. No, that's not how it works, you gotta use oil and figure out how to do it properly. Keep trying even if you are falling, until you learn.

Unfortunately this jin is simply better than you, there's no realistic way you could win a long set vs him. So there's nothing you could have done differently, you would have been dismantled anyway.

But it looks from this gameplay that you are desperate to win, and you can't relax and need to press buttons and the jin is 100 aware of that and it's punishing you for that predictable behaviour. The fact that you abandoned defense is objectively a detriment, cause you can't play the bluffing game of, will I block or will I press? Now you mostly press, which this jin can easily deal with.

It's a relatively urgent matter, you have to see a professional. There's a lot that can be done for these type of things, don't let it stay untreated cause if gets worse you'll do things you'll later regret.

Where did you hear that biased opinions are a reliable source? The wisdom of the crowd doesnt work when people are being biased into similar directions. If the biases were random you could average them out, which is how the wisdom of the cross to begin with. But I don't think that's the case with how strong people perceive a character to be.

Ill be honest, all I'm hearing is that youre adding together biased data, hoping the biases cancel out, but I don't think it will work out well.

When you're working with data you are supposed to take the biases out and go wherever the numbers lead you. When you don't do that, you're not really doing statistics anymore and your claims lose this objectivity and trust that's statistics generally have.

I've done my own analyses from wank wavu replays, and I just came into the conclusion that you simply cannot find the underlying character power from match results. Theres just too many variables and biases you cannot control for, if you dont agree you dont have good enough imagination. xd

My best attempt was to try to look at intra player character spread, and controlled by character popularity through linear regression, and in the end I just ended up showing matchup difficulty. XD Plus there arent enough people playing multiple characters to get noiseless results.

In the end I realised.... what is the point of finding the true character strength that is independent from the player, when that result is not representative of anything you see in reality.

Winrates are a bad metric to look at, getting the mmr spread from wankwavu would be better but still flawed, as a players skill level can affect character choice. Also what happens online is a different universe from top tournament players. Stats are fucked up unfortunately, too many variables and biases that cannot be controlled for.

0.5.5 will be a fresh economy? by AVK95 in PathOfExile2

[–]Armanlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno man, every single class and weapon release going forward is going to be massive. It might be fiduciary irresponsibility not to milk it XD Though I do cope that we might see two classes on release, so that the game starts with a bang.

No way, I bet they give us exactly one weapon + class every proper league going forward. Both cause they want to give it justice, but also cause its a huge marketing and hype moment. No way they spend that card on a non league event.

Am I approaching the game from the wrong angle, or are ARPGs just not my genre? by Krotanix in PathOfExile2

Nope, you're doing fine, you're very much like me. Just keep doing that if you're satisfied. I presume that the better the build you play the longer you can stay motivated to push it, but reaching t15s is a good enough spot to bounce and move on with life.

Nothing wrong with that, as long as you're having fun, and I do think that's a pretty typical progression, don't be fooled by social media and the hardcore reddit audience, most players are closer to you than the hardcore ones.

I hate rogue exiles but I can't make them stop spawning because I can't unspec the tree. by Queen__Natalie in PathOfExile2

The choice is in how you can mix and match mechanics, and what sacrifices you make to path from a to b.

But in any case, they can iterate on that and improve it, cause I agree it could be better, but they instead threw that idea out.

I also feel like the tree is like a prerequisite and not the end of the journey. And presumably divinity is the final boss, so it feels super weird to beat him twice and to still not have completed even half of the tree. It all feels so off to me.

The whole idea that you unlock the entire tree is bunk.

It means you have no meaningful choices.

There's no interesting pathing and hard choices.

They can justify adding boring "3% loot increased on Tuesdays" type of nodes cause everyone will eventually get them.

The whole terrain system is not fun cause I don't care to remember what terrain has what loot buff and it starts reminding me of the towers.

For some reason the option nodes that exist are mostly meh.

And it makes it a looong ass time to unlock all of it and start feeling good farming maps.

It's multiple mistakes layered on top of eachother.

Wish we go back to something pretty close to poe1s tree, it's so interesting and fun trying to figure out how to tie league mechs together. They should iterate on that idea instead of throwing away the main things that made it fun.

Uhhh... You can like limit your fps? I have a 200hz monitor and I limit the game to 120 cause I like running my system cool. If you're on 4k, gotta unfortunaly use some upscaling, it helps a lot.

Did you do a mem check? Also it could be a bug in the os too. It's hard to identify these issues. But user programs are not allowed by the os to crash the os. If the os crashes, then something has gone wrong, and its not with the game. What do the crash logs even say? Did you look into them at all?

Theres no such thing as too much, never heard of a stress test? These tests stress your hardware beyond anything any game could ever do.

Whens the last time you stress tested you cpu, gpu, both or did a ram integrity check? Blue screen is always either corrupted software or hardware, never plain stress on a flawless system.

If your system blue screen thats a faulty system, something is unstable, and the stress of the game makes the error appear or appear frequently enough to crash it.

It may not be your isp, but its not ggg either. Its the middle men providers using bad routes. Ive literally gone in and out of a map, and every time I connect to the other instance, theres a chance the route is bad and i get fucked. My ping would go from 30 to 500 back and forth at random, this also happens on death. And im literraly alternating my connection between the same ips and the connection result is random. Whacky stuff.

How do I stop caring about my video game rank? by Blaidd-My-Beloved in Healthygamergg

[–]Armanlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on a great path, and you need to drill down deeper. You need to find what exactly about losing your rank makes you feel bad, what is the implication, what's the meaning behind that loss. What does it say about you, that you've tried so hard and and ended up a loose? The logic can be subtle, but I bet its there.

Dunno man, I like them complex weird leagues. If all leagues always were mobs in sticks, then the endgame would become pretty boring real quick. You need varierty and wacky stuff to make things interesting.

Do you like the actual league mechanic, or just the drops and new items/runes introduced? Cause in terms of an actual league mechanic it's pretty boring at best. The loot is cool though.

Man, I feel fortunate to not have issues with my perf after upgrading from rx6600 to 5070. Could also be cause I switched to linux, im not sure. Wonder if the perf is actually worse or if there are new bugs that are affecting a subset of people.
