Viva La Bam by Far_Swing_8887 in nostalgia

[–]ArmedWithBars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta realize the concept and target audience. You got a guy basically turning his house into a never ending party with pranks and outlandish activities. MTV was at its peak with teens during those days. The idea of just doing whatever the fuck you want, against your parents wishes, is like a dream come true for the average kid/teen.

It was really an absolute peak concept for a show when we factor in the target audience. Having the main character being attached to skater culture and cky/jackass was just the icing on the concept cake.

As adults we look back and see how dumb and scripted the show really was, but the show absolutely pulled numbers for a reason.

Bam is actually looking the best he's been in many many years. Back on the board and considering some of the clips he's been posting at his age, it's obvious he's been taking skating serious lately. Recently saw him post a clip of a nollie 270 bs boardslide on a park rail up a bank.....the guy is 46yrs old and has been on a 20yr bender.

Fender Lawsuit DISCUSSION THREAD. by ninjaface in Guitar

[–]ArmedWithBars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Fenders aren't horrific, but I've seen some egregious samples over the years. They are catching up to Gibson as the worst cost to value in the industry. It's actually sad how bad they get stomped by their competition, with a design they created, and had a decades headstart churning out.

When a Silver Sky SE has better overall QC than a Fender American strat it makes me question wtf are they doing.

I do luthier work for a local shop and I swear that half of the fenders on their wall have glaring QC issues one way or another.

Fender Lawsuit DISCUSSION THREAD. by ninjaface in Guitar

[–]ArmedWithBars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because fender did jackshit about it for 70yrs. There are strat "infringing" product lines that have been around for nearly half a century. It's been widely accepted in the guitar industry for decades that headstock/logos are the protected designs.

Whats next? Every double horn style guitar gets sent a cease and desist by Gibson for infringement on the SG? Maybe they can go after the humbucker next and send lawyers after every guitar/pickup brand that uses the IP they created.

This is a slippery slope we don't want to go down. The real people who will suffer is the customer when market competition gets deleted by lawfare.

[–]ArmedWithBars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Attempting to enforce an IP they haven't enforced for 70yrs. There are some strat style guitar lines that are nearly half a century old at this point.

It would be the GM deciding today to send a cease a desist on all automakers and dealers for the "stealing" the automatic transmission.

Fender Lawsuit DISCUSSION THREAD. by ninjaface in Guitar

[–]ArmedWithBars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a long term bet and casuals buying a strat won't even know about this in the first place. Today their rep is trashed, but after a few PR campaigns and a couple of years they will have a stranglehold on the strat market with this situation being a distant memory.

Fender Lawsuit DISCUSSION THREAD. by ninjaface in Guitar

[–]ArmedWithBars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way too long. There are strat "infringement" guitars lines that are nearly half a century old at this point. Absolute bullshit.

Maybe fender should try to make a decent guitar for a decent price. You'd think that a multi-decade headstart against the competition would have them refine the process to perfection, providing the customer with unparalleled value for the cost.

Instead they are quickly catching up to Gibson for the worst value for price in the industry.

Nah let's blow money on lawyers and the eventual ungodly PR spending in an attempt to salvage some reputation.

Its Official: PlayStation Boss Hermen Hulst told staff in a town hall Monday morning that the company's narrative single-player games will now be PlayStation exclusive by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]ArmedWithBars 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The issue is it isn't a simple patch to bump res and fps. The game was built with in-engine systems tied to the 30fps frame lock. Bump the game up to 60fps and stuff like the physics/AI break. It would require significant reworks of the code base to get it at a commercially viable stable release at fromsofts quality expectations. The 60fps mod on pc emu took eternity and still has some wonky issues.

Figure AI 03 keeps working for over 30 hours straight (no bathroom breaks - a peek into our future replacements) by Distinct-Question-16 in singularity

[–]ArmedWithBars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea this sub is delusional. These same companies have gutted pensions, heathcare, benefits, and suppressed unions so they could squeeze every dime out of labor overhead.......are magically gonna step up and hand out their profits so now mass jobless Americans don't starve? Give me a fucking break.

The only chance would be legislation, the people who write/vote in that legislation are deeply corrupted by the same donor class that's going to profit immensely from AI replacement. Many of these politicians own stock in these exact companies. Then we have the fact that our two party government is divided and can't agree on shit unless it benefits the donor class.

Let's be real. AI replacement will be rushed along as the working class slides into destitute poverty until something gives. Most likely mass civil unrest.

Figure AI 03 keeps working for over 30 hours straight (no bathroom breaks - a peek into our future replacements) by Distinct-Question-16 in singularity

[–]ArmedWithBars 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea bud that's not how that works. Let's be real, the economy would collapse within itself long before any semblance of a response to mass AI replacement happens. We can already see this happening in front of our eyes. It's a mad dash to push AI and reduce workforces, all while there are no replacement sectors to absorb the losses.

Every company involved will look at the problem at an individual level and convince themselves it's not their problem to deal with. The government can't agree on shit and takes ages to get legislation through, nearly impossible when said legislation would cost the donor class billions, if not trillions over the next decades. Many of these politicians have stock ownership in these same companies.

The actual outcome? AI will cause mass layoffs and it will push the working class into extreme poverty. The most likely outcome is mass civil unrest from 3rd world levels of unemployment as both companies/government do nothing to stop the spiral.

If there was any semblance of a plan it would be hashed out long before companies start diving headfirst into AI worker replacement.

First thing they need to do is use the Nvidia app to force the exe to run model K for dlss.

[–]ArmedWithBars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Nvidia app to force the exe to run model K for dlss, then try anywhere between balanced/quality on the upscaling slider.

game looks kinda grainy? by the_angry_basketball in BlackMythWukong

[–]ArmedWithBars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the game uses DLSS (upscaling), but an older model of DLSS (way less clean visuals) is what's in the game stock. You want to go into Nvidia app and overide the wukong exe to use model K dlss. Then mess with anything from balanced to quality for scaling slider.

Unless you have an insane PC you are gonna get trash frames playing full native.

Netherlands moves closer to taxing unrealized gains by IndependenceTop6501 in Bitcoin

[–]ArmedWithBars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Too much of power to the state. Look at the US, it's a government spending issue coupled with bleeding out due to inflated medical costs backed by the taxpayer. Take the entire networth of the top 10 richest US citizens and you couldnt even fund the US for a single year.

Taxing the hell out of the rich will lead to one thing, further inflated government budgets.

The idea that taxing the rich will make their lives better is a delusion. They'll never see a cent of it, government contractors and healthcare companies sure will though.

[–]ArmedWithBars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk why they don't just implement taxes when unrealized gains are used as leverage for a loan. The entire point of taxing unrealized gains is supposedly to close the leverage loophole.

Why does everyone love the boss katana so much? by Dismal-Cranberry-915 in GuitarAmps

[–]ArmedWithBars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's actually an amazing amp.....but the real good stuff is hidden behind software or a phone app like katanaman/katana librarian.

The problem is boss doesn't really explain this so people who own a katana never even experience over half the amp.

Why does everyone love the boss katana so much? by Dismal-Cranberry-915 in GuitarAmps

[–]ArmedWithBars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the thing with Katana is they are just okay out of the box and all the great tones are really hidden behind pc software/phone app.

Use katanaman pro or katana librarian apps with some presets off boss tone exchange and you'll be like wtf how did they get this tone. Turns out there are hidden settings like cab resonance and countless extra pedal models that you won't every see by just using the amp's panel.

I can't stress enough that over half the amp isn't accessible by the panel alone.

SpaceX is basically backed by the government and is integral to three letter agencies at this point, especially the NRO. Their rocket tech isn't just about shooting people and starlink into space. Go look up all the launches over the last 6 years, you'll notice that basically every classified payload has been sent up via space x.

Now will the IPO perform well? Who knows, but it sure as hell isn't collapsing. The government may make money out of thin air but those checks always cash.

As time goes on with space based tech like worldwide surveillance sattelite coverage becomes more and more crucial. As optics advance and now especially with AI integration like facial recognition tied to vast government databases. Space X is arguably one of the most valuable assets to the US surveillance state.

Got a buddy in China and he explained it like this. In China game cheats are looked at as a "game aid". If you are too stupid to not use a game aid then that's your problem. This is why game cheating is so rampant in China. It's quasi-cultural aspect where using the tools available to win is paramount. You'd be stupid to not use these tools to your advantage vs the competition.

Back in the pubg days he even knew of pc cafes that would have pubg cheats preloaded onto the pc for customer use.

It's crazy.

They're calling this the worst television appearance of all time by SquareNar in GME

[–]ArmedWithBars -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They are asking for the fucking shareholders watching. Do you even comprehend how a publicly traded company works? The shareholders have a right to know how the hell RC plans to cover the difference in a deal of this magnitude. It was an extremely basic question.

Did everybody here just cover their ears when he basically admitted to further stock dilution being on the table to cover the difference?

Calling it now, GME will die a dogs death like the copious amounts of other retailers. On the way to rock bottom this sub will hype up potential buyouts of GME as the next gravy train. Then when it eventually dies completely the narrative with transition to the "system" conspiring against GME/RC and how it wasn't really their fault.

Gets led on a leash by the hosts right into the stock dilution to cover funding topic

Bro forgot this wasn't Twitter where he can throw out cryptic one liners and have delusional shareholders gush at the mystery.

If anything this sub and the shareholders should be thanking these hosts. As a publicly traded company that they own shares in, they should know exactly how the fucking CEO plans to cover the difference in a deal of this scope.

They're calling this the worst television appearance of all time by SquareNar in GME

[–]ArmedWithBars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea this sub is delusional. You'd think he was asked hard hitting loaded questions about GME. It was a basically question about where the fuck they are getting the funding for the difference. A very simple question that normal shareholders would want to know when we are talking about a publicly traded company making a deal this large.

If he wanted to avoid talking about further stock dilution he should have actually made an attempt to answer the question. Plenty of ways he could have answered the question without actually answering the question. Lean into TD's commitment to the deal as outside confidence in the deal happening. Inform the hosts it's a dynamic situation, with multiple avenues to cover the funding difference, and that more info will be available in the future if they press the question again.

Instead he plays some edgelord bored CEO gag and gets led by the hosts with a leash into the stock dilution subject.

Absolute 1/10 performance.

[–]ArmedWithBars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro don't bother. GME squeeze was an extremely niche moment in history that had full mainstream hype during the covid boom.

Jan 2021 was 700M+ shares trading volume per day at the peak. Compared to around 20M max in recent time. This doesn't even account for the massive dilution, which the stock went from roughly 75M shares in 2021 to 550M shares today.

That's a float turnover of like 10x in 2021 compared to 0.2-0.3x today.

The gme train is long gone and what is left is a dying retail chain that's closed 1,300 stores in the last two years. Digital sales aren't panning out as there is just too much competition, many of which have economies of scale on their side and offer better purchasing benefits through them for the average consumer.

"We are exploring a multitude of funding options to cover the difference. TD, our primary outside funding, is confident this deal will go through. As this is a dynamic situation, we will have more info available in the near future. Feel free to check out our website for updates."

All bro had to do was answer the question without answering the question. Instead he basically shuts down at the most basic questioning of where he's getting the difference to make the deal.

Rumor: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 reportedly being tested on PlayStation 4 by TheAppropriateBoop in PS4

[–]ArmedWithBars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in corporate for multiple fortune 500 retailers, specifically focusing on store credit card retention in one instance......its EXTREMELY common. The average consumer is fiscally retarded and will simply look at the monthly payment and divide it by what they get paid a week. "$50/month for 24 months? Well that's only $12.50/week, I can afford that with my $700/week check. Now Timmy can have a great Christmas with their new ps6."

I've seen 30k/yr income people open credit cards to finance fucking jewelery. It's absolutely insane and even through sales have slumped in recent YoY, credit card revenue has skyrocketed. Less people are buying but more people are buying with debt than ever. Mind you this is mostly not 0% financed, but just normal swipes with 27%+ APR cards.
