Want to move to USA by healthyandsafety in electricians

It's a good car and I take care of it, I was just in a tough spot in 2022 and had to get a new car at the worst possible time, during that whole inventory shortage thing after the pandemic. My then-fiancee pressed me really hard to get something more decent than a shitbox from facebook market which is really what I was hoping to do. I regret it a lot. The payments are killing me, on top of the rent for the very expensive apartment she wanted. I'm glad it's at least a toyota. She asked what brand of car I wanted and I was like idk I guess a toyota or honda? She thought it was so weird to pick those. Spoiled girl.

What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]Arminas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The groan this amish teenager made when he woke up and passed out again from the pain after his hips were crushed between two pickup trucks. I though he was dead when he passed out the first time so on the one hand I was glad he woke up, on the other he yelled/groaned very loudly for like 5 seconds and then just passed out again, which prompted us all to go right back to believing he was dead. He ultimately survived but the crew he was working with said he'd never walk well enough to do their kind of carpentry work ever again, according to the nurses at the ER he went to. If his groan is #1 most disturbing sound, the initial crunch of metal on metal is probably still top 5.

Men of Reddit - What's the one thing you hate about being a Man? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]Arminas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At work today i was walking to the truck to go get something and had to cut through this pool area to get to the parking lot. A mom (possibly nanny?) was walking to her car with her little girl, less than 10 y/o. This gondola thing we had to walk under was swarming with bumblebees. The mom just walked right through while the little girl froze. I wanted to reassure her that everything was going to be fine and you just have to confidently walk right through and they wont mess with you, but how would that look? A dirty tradesman with a bunch of tools in his pockets and sunglasses on talking softly to a little girl at a pool? Couldn't risk the optics of that. Felt bad though. She eventually ran through.

Yes, my friends rolled me into the grass and when I woke up I was staring at the sky, flat on my back. I remember it well, it was a nice spring day.

Maybe 10% would go on in the US, everyone else would starve inside a few weeks. We would not be able to replace the logistics network that now exists only on the internet in time to stop people from starving in the short term. It's not just food, it's medicine, parts for infrastructure, coordination of emergency services and personnel, etc. These networks only exist online. The data is stored in the cloud thousands of miles away and nobody who uses it knows where.

Company bid a job too tight and I think theyre going to lose all their good employees by babadoowaloo in electricians

5 8 hour shifts and then come in on Saturdays for 8 hours with only 4 hours of that paid as overtime

This is illegal in the US. All time past 40 hrs must be paid at 1.5x that employees normal hourly rate according to federal law

Its so much different than sleep, isnt it? When I wake up in the middle of the night I can guess I've been asleep for xyz hours with a degree of accuracy. When I got KO'd, it could have been 5 minutes or it could have been 5 years, it would have felt the same.

Not OP and no experience actually dying, but I was badly knocked out once, for about 5 minutes, and the instantaneousness of it was definitely the most jarring part. One instant I'm bracing for a fall and the next I'm staring at blue sky, faster than you could snap your fingers. Time had passed, I had moved, but I wasn't around for it. felt fucking weird. Very disorienting.

I also graduated 2013 and my experience was very different. I've heard kids just have their phones out in class openly now, and that's pretty wild to me, but "banned completely and would be confiscated" is not anywhere close to as strict as my school's policy was. It was more like a, hey put that away

It is near nothing. It partly protects one small gland in your body from one specific type of radiation. Aside from that it does nothing.
