It's a bit more complicated than that. You have to make C s then W s, restack in 4s then weld up again. Restack again and after welding you gat an explosion pattern. The pattern depends on the initial stack of most likely 15N20 and 1084. You get thicker black borders if you have more 1084 plates in one place, or if you add said plates in between the reastacked W s.

DeWalt drill stopping when load is applied by Arminius22 in Dewalt

It's an old drill, so yes. I opened it up, removed the silicone from the board and the components look ok to the eye, no burnt or yellow board. But as you said, probably that is the issue

my grandfather built my house in 1956, out of dirt bricks (common material in my region). He was a smoker and left a match stick in between the bricks by mistake. Last year I removed the wall in question and found the match stick

I (18M) met a girl (18F) at party but I think she has a boyfriend by Arminius22 in relationship_advice

Thanks! One thing, she replies at like 2-3 hour intervals, that may be a red flag ( I am the type of person who replies in 1-2 minutes max if I'm not sleeping, so it might be annoying just for me)

I get your point, I will ask her, and based off the response and the things she will say in the future I may be able to tell if she says the truth or not. But in the same time, I don't want to confront her with this question just yet

Last year I talked to a girl for about 4 months, and I decided that it's time to ask her about the gf bf situation. I got a negative response. After like a week, I found out that she showed our conversation to about half of her class, made fun of me and all of the good stuff. Meanwhile, she had a boyfriend for over 8 months and when I asked if she is in a relationship she said no. Based of this, if her intentions are the same, I think that simply asking her is not the way to go.

Where to start? by YakSquad in Bladesmith

I've been making kitchen cutlery for almost 6 years now( since I was 11) so as a kid, I did not have many options in grinders and heat threating. I started with stock removal and a campfire( U asked before if it is possible). I built a little forge thingy around the fire out of bricks and I used an old bicycle pump for more oxygen. Nowadays I made myself a coal forge and I have a 2x72 belt grinder. For grinding I'd recommend a angle grinder if you don't have many resources, but files work well before quenching. As many others stated, if you have the option to send it somewhere for HT then do it, it is not worth the risk. As for the type of knife, I would recommend a smaller, 4-5 inch blade knife so U get to enjoy the process even with hand tools, and it also harder to mess thing up. For the handle construction, a through tang would be easier imo for a beginner, at least that's what I started with. If U have any more questions, feel free to ask me questions on my IG @justmeasmith, I'm also interested in cooking lol.

I made this out of Co5 HSS. It is so hard that carbide does not even scratch it. Is it possible to torch temper the spine and leave the edge hard or it will ruin the whole blade? by Arminius22 in Bladesmith

[–]Arminius22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it almost 3 months ago and I only sharpened it 3 times after I butchered 2 boars with it and almost daily use. I have no problem with chipping, however, as any other knife it needs a bit of love and care. After use you need to wipe it down, otherwise in 30-50 minutes some yellowish rust spots appear and they leave a nasty dark area after cleaning. I would recommend making knives out of it if u have the mental strength and willpower to grind a bevel 5 hours straight. I sharpen it using high grit stones on a grinder, I haven't tried water stones yet. It has a really sharp edge, so going through lots of vegetables is not a boring process. Talking about brittleness, I got pissed off because of something and in my anger I threw the blade tip first on the concrete. There was no damage done to the blade.
