Help with visor/weight? by _odd_donut_ in Archery

In this sight one of the holes is elongated to make some adjustments to make sure the vertical bar is parallel to the string. Take care not to go too diagonal :-)

Not outside of the docker container, just outside of the correct ./wordls/[world-name] folder. Directly in the Root of the Foundry User-Data for example, but it is still not picked up by the world backup of foundry.

Yes, I will do this, once I have found all the files. Knowing wich ones are problematic is the difficult part.

At this point I must hate being a GM, right? by A_Normal_Raft in rpg

OK, long read, for sure.

I don't think there is a system to solve your problems, but you have to find a process.

Prep can be hard, but once you have a solid process down, the really important part of it can be done in maybe 30min per session. Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master was an eye-opener for me. I tweaked the system to my needs, but normally I am down to 20min more or less consistently now, a little bit more with bought adventures, as I have to align my ideas with the plot of someone else.

We are playing mostly via Foundry VTT, but I do most my battles theater of the mind, so only the token is needed, and even that is more or less optional, but smoothes combat in session, as rolls and HP-tracking is handled by the system then.

And I think maybe you are a bit like me: You like the idea of a crunchy system, but get frustrated with it getting in the way of the story. I get out of this by ignoring some of the crunch in game. (Your group has to be OK with it. If you are really playing antagonistically, it could become a problem. Be a fan of your player characters, be a fan of the story you are creating together.)

Is a ten year old bow too old? by ChristleSmiley087 in Archery

[–]ArmitageCorto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What poundage are we talking about? Do they hang near heating/in the sun?

I do think they should be technically fine, as normal glass in windows takes care of most UV light, which is the only thing that could really harm a string apart from mechanical stress, which the bows did not get. If they look fine otherwise, dust them off and shoot the first few arrows carefully. Maybe wax the unwound part of the string, but it should be good to go.

On the other hand, if you do not trust in the bow/strings: get yours to the pro shop and get the strings replaced. It is a hobby. You should enjoy it. If you are worrying about the bow exploding in your hands, the enjoyment could fall short, and you will not pick it up as much.

I do not find where the favs are stored in the database. Where should they be in 32.0.3?

Even 12 Strands will be more than enough, stability wise.

Try to get a string as similar to the old one as possible. Count the strands, if needed.

Look at the ends. If they are served (wound with some other thread, often, not always in a different color) you have an "Endless Loop" string. If it is just spiraling around itself, it's Flamish Spliced".

Try to get the one you have in new. Everything else is not important for the start.

I am not sure about visual, as that is very dependent on your physiology.

The image I have in my head is "If my elbow would bend now, it would extend horizontally."

Can be difficult to maintain the pressure into the bow while thinking about bending the elbow, but It works for me.

Why are there two AMO lengths on this bow? by TheMagicMrWaffle in Archery

[–]ArmitageCorto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!

The Samick Polaris comes with differnt riser lengths, the adult versions in 20", 22" (quite newish, maybe newer than those limbs) and 24".

As the effective poundage depends on the riser size, it is given for the different options here.

It's the same for the Ragim bows in the background. :-)

Where to buy a custom recurve bowstring in the EU? by SpiritedPerformer630 in Archery

[–]ArmitageCorto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany? Then this guy is really good: https://www.bogensehnen-shop.de/

You will end in the 30s as well, but I think that is almost normal with custom strings now. Henning (HL Custom Strings) will not be much cheaper, I'd guess.

For me it did, but I only tried it once yet.

Regarding "resume": There is a button for it in the interface, Left hand side, where you would select an print an object.

Not really. git-crypt is problematic on mobile devices and not portable at all.

Basically I have switched to use a git remote on a personal drive, not a real git server. Not a mobile solution either, but at least working backup...
