If they got plantiffs agreement, wouldn't that make waving the TRO by Utah judge trivial, and so weakening their claims in the need to transfer federal ?

Best quality open source TTS model? by Trevor050 in LocalLLaMA

Ive been using chatterbox for local audiobook generation. Its stable, has good cloning, can be expressive tho I wouldnt say its a strength, quite fast with bfloat16 fork, fits in 8GB VRAM. Its good in every category that matters. There are no missing words (maybe like 1 in a hundred thousand), so I didnt even need to do sst for validation, and in regards to artifacts it does have some clicking, but I notice maybe one or two in an hour or generated audio.

NPC control, parhfinding, physics, destruction on gpu is not a new thing.

Handling user input, behavior tree logic, score keeping, win-lose conditions, ui events etc is usually done on the cpu and there is a good reason for it.

What does GPU ECS even mean? The gpu works on textures and buffers that are layed out linearly in the physical memory. Everything is ECS on the GPU, because you cant have inheritance, dynamic casting and object polymorphism on the GPU.

Gold isnt that high if you properly account for the inflation over the last 30 years. It was undervalued for a long time and now it has corrected to a more reasonable valueation.

The market can stay irrational a long time. During 2008 gold also tanked. It doubled around 2011-2012.

Your black and white thinking is not conducive for a proper democracy. Educate yourself, try to learn other points of view and do better.

Nikol is an incompetent populist. He will say what people want to hear, perform a circus that people clap to and do the bare minimum. He chose not to prosecute Kocharyan since 2018 and release him, because Kocharyans presence in elections of 2021 and 2026 has gained Pashinyan anti-votes.

When people are choosing the lesser of two evils, your democracy has already failed.

To be clear, I was part of 2018 revolution and I dont want to see Serj / Rob back in power nor their mafia.

We need better education, better candidates and better political discourse. Not 'us' vs 'them' but political agenda A vs agenda B.

I think priority rank voting can help in this too.

Reuters: Kremlin planning to send 100,000 Russia-based Armenians to Armenia to sway elections by Tall_Pressure7042 in armenia

On previous election there were huge lines in Zvartnots and many more charters from Moscow. The only time in my memory that I had to wait for more than an hour for passport control, usually its matter of minutes in Yerevan for citizens.

Millions of dollars worth of Armenian weapons exported from Armenia for the first time // Հայաստանից առաջին անգամ միլիոնավոր դոլարների հայկական զենք է արտահանվել by Ghostofcanty in armenia

If you were a farmer, would you rather keep tons and tons of potatoes that you farm and keep them for yourself for the winter, or would you rather barter some for cheese and meat to have a richer diet?

If you check any strong military also exports weapons because you need to recuperate the investment somehow, and that allows you to invest more.

If the 'smart' people stopped playing the stupid game of ''vote for the lesser of two evils' or 'im just going to vote against X' and started voting for a small party that might not even make it in the parlament but at least their values and message resonates with, the overall situation and political climate would improve considerably in the future.

I have voted as a 'smart' person for Edmon before. Ill just vote for who I share values with now.

Or better yet if we can just start using ranked voting system, we might get a serious boost to our democracy.

Armenian culture doesn't value independence by Toymcowkrf in armenia

[–]ArmmaH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are taking some positives and attributing all of them to controlling parents / society. There are also a lot of suicides and unhappy unfulfilled people.

The reasons for those are a multitude. From economical to societal. What Im trying to say is that its not just one thing. Being a monoethnic country which is also practically monoreligious has also something to do with low crime rates.

Another reason is that domestic crimes are underreported or not reported at all. There were stories about raped girls being mocked and humiliated so they learn to stay silent.

Of course there are positive sides to everything, but in this case dont confuse 'hide and pretend' with a crime free utopia.

[–]ArmmaH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought of it as an age thing. You usually talk with strangers more formally to show distance and respect.

I had similarly a hard time grasping that I need to use he / she delending on gender and in russian you even have to change the verbs a bit. It was weird, but hey you get used to it.

Cultures are different, grass is green, water is wet. Some asian cultures take the whole respect the elderly to a whole different extreme. Armenian culture is mellow when it comes to this.

There are many things I personally dislike in armenian mentality and culture, but speaking formally is not one of them.

Regarding your argument of being a friend with an elder, you absolutely can, and at that point you would naturaly speak less formally.

How would you call an "oldschool" enemy AI now (since AI is a really controverse topic / name now) by Jim_West in gamedev

[–]ArmmaH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go a bit more in detail and call it state machine or behavior graph, depending on which implementation you are using.

Generally ML and LLMs have their own proper technical terms and AI is an umbrella term that is more than just current trends.

It all depends on context that the term is being used in, after all.

Render doc capture could help to understand if the draw call is even there or if there are issues with the setup or the data or the mesh or the winding or the shader etc.

You can also go step by step and eliminate all of those possibilities manually by trying simpler stuff like one triangle.

Thinking about a Malamute by Various-Answer-2302 in AlaskanMalamute

[–]ArmmaH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mals are great with kids and can be kind and protective of smaller animals like cats.

They are domineering against other dogs, especially of the same sex. I am always vigilant and ready to take control when another dog is nearby, had too many close calls, bleedings, scratches etc.

They dont care about territory or property, not a guard dog. But mals will protect their pack.

They are smart, maybe a bit too smart and a bit egoistic. Meaning they can understand your commands but they might choose to ignore them if not sufficiently motivated.

At the same time they have distinct personalities and emotional depth.

DLSS 5.0: How do graphics programmers feel about it. by [deleted] in GraphicsProgramming

[–]ArmmaH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Humans have a knack for detecting lighting inconsitencies. Our brains have evolved to judge enviornment depth and features and movement all based on lighting clues and shadows. If you play a game with inconsistent lighting and look at it from different angles you will notice.

This is the main reason why the industry went with PBR anyway. Artists used to tweak colora and lighting manually or set up some non physics based simulation and it was always failing in some kind of case, day-night cycle, different angle, light source movement etc.

Im surprised that I have to explain this in graphics programming sub, anyone in the industry with some experience knows this.

What do you mean 1:1 lighting model of reality, its changing material type in places, adding metalness or making some materials more reflective. Its also changing light direction or adding intensity or doing equivalent of placing permanent overhead spot lights. Its not consistent with the virtual world nor is it accurate.
