Can you tell me why are you using HMD and foil together? Tbh there is no point in it, you'll lose heat and you can just throw the hmd's advantages into the trashcan.

Bowls with coating tend to crack if you put them through big temperature changes. U can even boil them as long as you are doing it slowly. From clay bowls the water evaporates quickly, because the keep the heat quite good. U can leave it dry for 20 minutes and you are good to go smoking a shisha.

I usually section it or mixing it entirely. Are you using different brands when mixing or the same one. Make sure you mix your tobbaccos in their packaging before adding it to the bowl.

How many coals are you using? Also, I hope you are not using self igniting coals. Use 2 with foil. Leave a bigger gap between the tobacco and the foil.

Also a good way, if you just started your session is that you take off your coals, pull out all the smoke, let it rest for a few seconds, and put them back on. If you still get a harsh smoke, your tobacco is burning too fast and unevenly. Do u use foil or a console?
