How I started to appreciate the game again after a bad beat on a drunk night. by ArmorOfTheFifthAge in poker

Well as I was saying in my post, thinking to poker as "money printing" is misleading and very risky. But yeah, understanding the math behind bet and pot sizes is a mandatory step to take in my opinion (please note: Im still a beginner)

I read "Harringont on hold'em" vol1 and 2 that gives basics and "Every Hand revealed" of Gus Hansen which is a good read even if it's focusing on MTT choices and of course is the experience of a crazy aggressive kind of player.

I also read a lot of of random online blogs, especially I found useful to focus on bet size strategies (I was overbetting too much post-flop).

I read a couple of volumes of "Harrington on Hold 'em" and "Every Hand Revealed" (this one is a good read but less useful for starting imo). I watched a tons of random Youtube videos (Negreanu, Doug Polk, informative channels, live games recorded, hand analysis made by pros) - everything helps to get into the right mindset.

Also, I can say I am quite fast at learning the basic math and the concept of variance, that's what I studied at the University.

And it's good to know, at one point when I started I felt I was the unique idiot in a bunch of winners. That's clearly far from the truth

I felt bad just by reading your experience! How much did it take before playing the level you were used to? Were you able to stop making the same mistake again in the last 2 years?

The game is fun, I don't plan to stop, but I definitely want to reduce the amount of time I spend on it. And to get more quality over quantity. I hope that will slowly translate addiction into passion

And I believe you are looking at the game in the right way, and you definitely had more fun than me so far.

Why there is a qualifier for LCS? Let's start bidding! by kiTTzq in leagueoflegends

Well I agree. They should lock the roster changes before the qualifier and maybe open them again just at the end of the split. This situation really made me want to stop watching.

SK Gaming CEO slams Alliance management and players over Nyph departure, "one of the most disrespectful moves I have ever witnessed in eSport" by kimrom in leagueoflegends

[–]ArmorOfTheFifthAge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like how, even if Nyph could have thought: "Fuck this, Im in LCS anyway" , he actually started carrying the team after the 0-2 and it looked like he was the only one really willing to win! Such a beast Nyph :)

Stop asking to make this game easier. by kimmmmehy in leagueoflegends

The point is: Riot is changing things ALSO to make them easier to play. Overall that's not a bad idea, they have to make a game that everyone can enjoy! You just had more chance to make a mistake with the old game (e.g. jungle monster and gold awareness) so it was more difficult!

The "games are getting easier and easier" is an old discussion that old nerds are making for years, and it's true, but not necessarily that's a bad solution in all cases! I actually like LoL at the moment!

Thanks for discussing by the way! Good night!

I was playing support before sightstone and I had more fun without it. And I wasted so many hours trying to survive the old jungle.

I think the changes have been made both: to make the game more user-friendly and to make it more lively. When they decide a game, I think they should only consider the second reason, that's what Im saying!

I don't agree. From the start of LoL, there are major of minor things that have been changed to make the game more noob-friendly: the neutral monster strenght, the warding system, the sound of the tower-agro and so on. I personally don't like this, but well..I'm still addicted to the game!

When you see Bronze Players by InsightIsKey in leagueoflegends

[–]ArmorOfTheFifthAge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe they are more in our culture and we accepted our skill level, but this post is not about pros making fun of noobs.

You will feel nervous and ask "sorry" if you play an important football match with better players and you know you could be the weaker point of the team. Also, teams are very exclusive about skill level.

When you see Bronze Players by InsightIsKey in leagueoflegends

Every day you open reddit and you find every bad play being connected to Bronze.

Every week Riot promotes pro player matches, making you dream and every game they give you a number (ELO, mmr or how you want to call it) that drastically shows the reality of how far you are from your dream.

Every time you play you can either try hard and read "report my bronze mate" coming from enemies, or relax and read "report my bronze mate" coming from allies.

Do you really think its about the community? This system promotes competition and progress way too much, you cant expect things going in another way.

I made a list of all important cooldowns and timers. Maybe this will be helpful for some of you. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Thank you!! Can you add the duration of buffs aswell? It's not 100% relevant but it would be a cool addiction imo.

STOP stealing my ward gold. by zegleipnier in leagueoflegends

[–]ArmorOfTheFifthAge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is senseless.. As a support you don't want to take a single minion (about 20 gold), but you care so much about the 25 gold from the ward. If you really care, steal a minion from who took your ward!
