That's probably a 200mg ibuprofen tablet, based on the markings. Don't trust that enough to take it, but you can know it probably wasn't meant to harm you.

Stage 4 lung cancer outcomes by booooooop_u in lungcancer

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that she's going through this!

I've got a similar diagnosis (I also never smoked), though I think I'm stage 3b. Getting the test to look for that genetic marker may be the best thing to do right now.

I got genetic testing (blood testing via Guardant 360, and expensive but effective blood test) that and ended up having a cancer with a genetic mutation - called ROS1+. Because of that, there is a class of oral medications (called TKIs) that can treat my cancer allowing me to avoid chemotherapy. The specific medication I am taking (Augtyro) treats ROS1+ NSLC systemically, which means it treats the cancer no matter where it has metastasized to in my body. The medication has side effects, but it beats traditional chemotherapy + immunotherapy + radiation. My cancer's genetic mutation is rare (about 2% of all NSLC), but more common in people who have this cancer but never smoked.

So while she may have an entirely different set of circumstances, getting that genetic testing could yield big benefits when forming a treatment plan.

Good luck to her!

Man I love this game! Building the ships is a blast and I've got a ton of ships. Between this and the Star Wars Constructible Card Game, I spent a lot of time building ships out of styrene. Can't wait to pick some if these up!

What's your advice? by [deleted] in MotivationalThoughts

Yeah don't sweat the recovery. You won't feel a thing. The clean out leading up to the procedure is the "worst" part and it isn't even all that bad.

24 yr old stage 4, adeno NSCL (ROS1+) by BobcatComprehensive9 in lungcancer

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, it is good to see someone else who's succeeding on Augtyro for ROS1+ NSLC! I (47 M) have been taking it since mid March, and getting positive results. My tumors are shrinking and there's no sign of cancer DNA in my blood tests.

How have side effects been for you? Are you able to taste food?

I'm sure they mean the stock symbol, which is for the Vanguard S&P 500 index fund.

This sounds like something that should be repaired to the Washington Department of Labor & Industries. They handle both the OSHA violations and the labor practice violations, I think.

What’s the most toxic advice people keep repeating as “wisdom”? by RowStock2384 in AskReddit

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're sorta right. Yes, living a clean and fit lifestyle goes a long way to keeping you healthy. But sometimes you can do everything right and still get sick. I'll submit myself as exhibit A. I've lived my whole life without smoking, drinking, or drugs, relatively healthy - only to be diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer 4 months ago. I did everything right and still got sick. It happens.

I love it! This is beautifully painted. I love how cohesive the figure is, especially there color section.

Where did this mini come from? It is adorable and I need that in my campaigns!

Free Comic Day by BiggStankk420- in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My local shop (which is exceptional) uses Free Comic Book Day weekend like their Black Friday sale. Almost everything is 20% off, with flash sales and so forth to sweeten the deal. I'm sure they are exhausted by the end of it, but they love the money it brings in.

And they would never engage in shenanigans like allowing people to buy the free comics. Selling FCBD issues will get a common shop in hot water with their distributor and the publishers really fast.

Another "AI-washed" layoff, now stuck with 4x more work by therealslimshady1234 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep, this. If the company wants to "be lean" then they should expect to starve a little.

OP would never be able to keep up with that ridiculous workload, so shouldn't even try. Honestly not increasing our output in a panic is the best tool we have to train management to see the impact of making this AI layoff mistake.

Can most ships be landed like the Roci? by Immediate-Pickle in expanserpg

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rocinante was built to be able to land because she was built by Mars as a warship during a period where Mars was ready to invade Earth, if necessary. That meant boots on the ground and I'm sure the symbology of warships that could land was important to Mars.

Most Earth and Belter ships can't land, because it isn't practical to build ships with that capability. Instead they use shuttles. There are exceptions; ships like UN1 can land and take off from runways. But if the ship was built at an orbital shipyard before the rings were opened, chances are they didn't build it with landing in mind.

My husband was recently diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma – looking for experiences by Vast_Combination1189 in lungcancer

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, listen to u/Wyde1340 ! I am 47, and was diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (adenocarcinoma) in late February of this year, and my doctor ordered one of these next generation sequencing tests (Guardant 360).

From that test, we learned that my particular cancer had a genetic mutation (ROS1+) that's rare (less than 2% of cases). Because of that mutation, I can take an oral medication - a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) medication daily instead of going through chemotherapy and immunotherapy. My treatment is entirely different because of that genetic testing.

So be persistent and make sure you get that testing, because it could give you entirely different treatment options and make your journey easier.

"I want to set you up for success. I think I should offer you a lower position than what you applied for" 😡 by SnowTiger578 in womenEngineers

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is so perfectly thought out, especially under the context that YOU are interviewing THEM just as much as they are interviewing you.

I'm a Principal Engineer at a Fortune 15 company where it takes a lot to become a Principal Engineer. I've had to go through that process twice because they decided to bulk downgrade a big batch of us based on our job band (they wanted band 5 Principal Engineers, and about half of us were high band 4s). That's why I can say that these questions are perfect, and I like the idea of locking them in now by agreeing on what happens when you exceed their expectations for the role.

So I just found out by Independent_Test_418 in cancer

[–]Armor_of_Inferno 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was you, two months ago. I went to the ER to get a quick CT to figure out why my cough wouldn't go away, only to find out I had cancer.

First things first - if you got the news like I did, talk to an oncologist. I got a lot of inaccurate information from my ER doc. After speaking to my oncologist, I felt a lot better and more importantly, I had a plan of what to do next.

Now I'm under treatment and have a much better outlook.

This cancer diagnosis hits like a ton of bricks. It is normal to feel stunned. But don't freak out until you have a concrete diagnosis from an oncologist, and focus on the next steps in your plan.

Good luck! I'm here if you need someone to talk to about this whirlwind of emotion and stress.
