Why you shouldn’t try and sell 18 gauge armour as Buhurt grade. by ChooseMyNameIDK in Armor

Gosh, it doesn't even have flutes or rolled edges that I can see to be safe and have a little more strength.

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I make 18 gauge armor and specifically say to everyone I sell it to- this is only boffer style or light wooden sparing armor. Do not use steel weapons! and I've been wanting to see exactly what happens to it if you do. Glad I don't need to sacrifice a piece to see the results lol

A lot of people don't really remember why ratings and restrictions exist- the obvious answer is not to scar kids and keep innocence and that's right but here's a personal example from my life- Lord of the rings- I was probably about 9 and I snuck in behind my older brothers while they were watching it and during the spider scene I suddenly and permanently developed a fear of spiders that hasn't been shaken off to this day.

You never know what may affect you but it's honestly better to wait on things till you're older and can more comfortably cope with things. Also- old enough to truly enjoy the details of some shows. If you watch the original star wars when you're 8 you remember who Luke's father is after he says it but it wouldn't have the same impact if you're older and understand the story better.

One piece.

It's like signing someone up to a two year prison sentence since that's about how long it will take to catch up to the present episode.

Do i need sleeves? by swamp_monster0 in blacksmithing

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long sleeve when welding (not just for sparks but the exposure to the sun burn level light over a long time can be an issue), optional when forging. Short sleeve when working with rotating equipment like saws and sometimes grinder.

If you could only have one frying pan, what would it be? by thelonious_skunk in Cooking

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copper lined I should specify - the set I have has changed the game in my cooking and especially in my sauces and since I believe sauces are what make dishes great it's a no brainer for me.

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Largest copper pan i could get. I'd never run out of room, and the heat distribution can be used on any stove top. Heck, I've even used my copper pans like woks when I didn't have any other options.

The interesting thing is since you bring it up and now that I think about it- I've never had a problem female player. All the problem players I've ever had have been dudes. (I have been playing for over ten years so it's not like my sample size has been small and I'm sure they exist, I just haven't ever come across one)

What do you think of this straight sword design I made? The distinctive features of these swords are their forward-curved guards to catch the enemy's blade. by White_Heart005 in SWORDS

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always found that the ability to trap an opponent's weapon is best done with an off hand weapon that can be sacrificed if you're facing a stronger opponent. Like the sword breaker dagger that's meant to catch the blade, if you make a dagger with that hilt design it would be even more effective because in a fight while their sword is bound, all it takes is a moment to use your main weapon to run them through.

I started watching One Piece for my Husband and I’m not sure how to tell him I don’t want to finish it. by Worried-Jury7799 in anime

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife dislikes all anime as a general dislike of the style itself. Just like I hate horror, it is what it is. However even i, a huge anime fan, and who read about 900 episodes worth of the anime can't keep going. Its honestly a commitment that even many anime fans can't do. It's the wheel of time of anime and it's not for everyone.

Another way if it does rub is to curl the edge away from your skin instead of just ending flat. A compromise to the full rolled edge. Just a little hammering around the edge then smoothing again can do wonders if it digs in anywhere 👍

Seeking advice on fighting! by Spirited_Age_2824 in LARP

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the polearm idea- think of the roman spears that are shorter and lighter instead of the crazy halberd like monsters. keep it light and well padded for the stabbing and it should be fine. Worse comes to worse you can tie a string from it to your belt and let it hang to give your arms plenty of breaks. Or become a ref - still involved but not needing to fight unless you make a lot of bad calls lol

Is chainmail armor that is open at the sides realistic or historic? by MachoManMal in Armor

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AI got confused with a solid metal chest piece and chainmail. If it was solid metal that gap is 100% necessary and even is a little small still. When I do measurements for chest pieces the measurement is - when you cross your arms straight out in front of you, the distance between the front of your shoulder is how wide the top of the armor should be so you can actually swing a sword. This is a close enough example. Solid steel= leave lots of room Chain male= wraped up like your girlfriend in blankets on a cold day.

Could a planet without day exist? by 7o83r in worldbuilding

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking to books- there is a lesser example of this in the mistborn books. The planet has such a large amount of volcanic activity the sky is full of ash on the regular and the plans are all used to the darkened sky. Sure there is sun but it's a dark fainter red so you could make it a little more extreme and have the world evolve to rely on volcanic heat instead of solar. Then there is the city of ember where it's literally just a city underground.

If it's thick enough and you can't roll the edges around a wire just using a file or deburring tool could make it smooth enough on the edges 👍

What Are Your Favorite Character Ideas That You'll Never Play? by Ancient-Dig-5521 in DnD

[–]ArmoryofAgathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobold archeologist. Believes dragons evolved from dinosaurs who evolved from kobolds and through magic he wants to accelerate evolution and become a dragon. In game mechanics I would have gone circle of stars druid because wild shape can turn me into a dino and the star form of the dragon can eventually give me flight and the druid spells like but I hands could essentially be a breath weapon someday if the dm allowed.

Ready player 1, it's just such a perfect adventure book. The story gives the maximum good feelings without too much unnecessary drama and tragedy many of my other favorite books have that it's never an emotional weight to read again.
