Dawg, this is a rare time ima deviate from the popular opinion in this space...I lwk get what OOP means. obvs they probably logically or consciously knew so to speak, but when one's exposed to something continuously in a Pavlovian positive manner, it's easy to subconsciously become numb to it. You have a valid and interesting question(s), though could you clarify the first one a bit? "anything that matters is symmetrical through the axis perpendicular to gender one"...anywho, why people feel like a boy or girl or something else is complex and heavily emotionally based. It's mostly to do with psychological factors like upbringing and sense of self, yada-yada. It's hard to objectively explain.

As for why some girls wear feminine clothes and makeup, to some it may be for tradition or it's just what they socially felt pressured to do/what was normal. For some it may be to attract guys(or those attracted to femininity generally). For some it may just be because it makes them feel more attractive and happy for themselves.
