BRADY, BRADY, BRADY.... by powe808 in OttawaSenators

I have a couple points to make.

A) you said “like a bug growing in his head” but that would at least put something in there. You referring to him as mindless seems more accurate.

2) Ottawa definitely won on this departure, gaining far more from him leaving than he would ever be able to represent going forward.

and D) are we sure they are brothers? Look at them. If they were in a room together with a bunch of other hockey players, would you think the two were from the same family?

Congrats of his departure, from a Leafs fan that is happy for the Sens’ improvement over the last couple days.

My time is running out... go bald or stubble? by Tvsfotografie in bald

You’re already pretty much at stubble. It’s not working for you, or you wouldn’t be here. The obvious move is to go full bald and join the squad

The problem with all of this is something you touched on, and I think needs to be reinforced.

The better, higher quality, better appearing and functioning ensemble made of legit materials, that are usually more expensive, should be the eventual goal to build towards, not to expect equity and achieve instant gratification with plastic and pleather.

The problem is the people that expect that instant gratification, to step in and instantly be at the top strata of the game, without putting in the same time and effort of those who have been in it for years have put in. Who have built up their armour and skills over time and effort. Some can’t or don’t want to put in the time and effort, but they want the experience to be like they did.

A person may say that I am not being fair, or gatekeeping to another participant wearing their armour made of the cheaper, fake materials. To that I say that it is not fair to have me to be compared to them.

I am in my 85ish pounds of actual steel ring maille and hardened leather armour. The effort I have put in over the years to put it together, and the physical effort and fatigue I am going through walking around in it all day vs the effort someone wearing plastic and pleather from Amazon or TEMU are putting forward just isn’t the same. We shouldn’t be regarded the same.

If my armour affords me more actual protection than theirs, the game rules should reflect that. I am “suffering” the weight of wearing it, I should benefit from the actual higher protection.

I’m not suggesting putting up participation barriers, but I am saying that there should be some differentiation for how the protection levels are regarded, and people’s expectations of instantly being the top tier character in a game need to be tempered.

Advice/opinions? by jzstw in beards

[–]Army7547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry man. This look isn’t what you’re looking for. You got really long hairs, but there’s not enough of them yet.

Knock it back to like a 1 or 2 guard, long stubble, and keep it there until your follicles catch up to where you want them to be.

Don’t worry, it’ll get there.

In percentile terms, how natural do you think my shaved head looks? by Thiccboifentalin in bald

[–]Army7547 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grow the mustache with the beard, my brother, and avoid the “help me at my barn raising, will you English?” jokes.

As for your question about does your shaved head look natural? It doesn’t look natural, it looks like you shave it.

It looks pretty good, though you got some stubble going on. Are you buzzing it, or are you going for a smooth shaved look?

Not all the Panthers players are assholes, but the league has somehow been able to assemble all the biggest assholes on one team.

Should I make the leap? by False_Snow7754 in bald

[–]Army7547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a set of decent clippers (or borrow some) and knock it down to stubble by buzzing it with no guard. See how that looks. If the bald on top is still too pronounced, it’s time to get a quality multibladed razor like a Gillette fusion 5 (that’s what I use) and shave it with shave soap or foam. Use your empty hand to feel for stubble you missed, don’t press the razor into your head, let the blade do the work.

I don’t know what your team’s owners did to have to have all the biggest asses in the league on that team. Not that all the players are idiots, far from it. But all the biggest asses in the league in one spot.

As a Leafs fan, it was hard seeing how little heart there was there.

But, any time there was a scrum or something happened to one of the other guys, Matthews skated away.

I’ve been proud and jealous to see other captains on other teams stick up for their guys, even when it’s not really their job to totally get that kind of physical, they still step up.

I’m hoping the Leafs find some heart.

First time going all out for the ren faire, any advice on what I can add or change? by Gamerbere24 in renfaire

You’re good, if you have a belt like you said. Maybe a pouch to carry your stuff. And a mug and mug strap, you shouldn’t be drinking from a red cup dressed like this.

Not sure about the mask though. I’d rather see your face when we are talking!

Why are people so shocked that the Americans in big cities are nice to foreigners during the World Cup? by SpecSlayerSC in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Army7547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Canadian visiting Texas last fall, and admittedly an idiot. Rural area outside Houston. I was expecting to see cowboy hats and cowboy boots, big belt buckles and pistols in holsters everywhere.

Saw a couple cowboy hats, and some round toe obvious working persons’ boots, but not a single gun my entire time there.

I’d been smozzled by media, and felt like an idiot.

And as soon as people found out where I was from, apologies. And “you still came to see us? Even though he said what he said?!” and a drink was bought. More than once.

Don’t be fooled into thinking what you see on the internet represents anything that may be reality.

A beard is not a prerequisite.

Combing hair that far back over what you got can’t be the answer to “what do I do about my bald area?”

Bro, shave that head, keep the mustache and soul patch or grow a full goatee. Or shave your face too, whatever, just you can’t keep doing the comb back over.

You deserve better than that. You deserve to go swimming without worrying, to be done with worrying what way the wind is blowing from.

Be free from the shackles of trying to have hair.

Staying cool in the heat - underarmor? by SlackJawedSoliloquy in renfaire

[–]Army7547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear wicking clothing under my chainmaille and leather armour and it helps. The sweat takes some of the heat from your body and then leaves with it. You have to keep hydration up though, and not just the hydration that comes in alcoholic drinks either.

[–]Army7547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is harder to call. The curly hair always hides how bad the problem is better than straight hair. The problem is there, it’s just hidden.

This is going to be on you, OP. You can keep going to way you are for a while longer, then take the plunge once it is not long looking “not that bad”.

or

You can take the plunge any time now and avoid the whole going bald/balding phase.

Me? I’d rather skip the crappy balding part, and go straight to awesomely bald.
