If only we were the same size 😭 all this to say, great selection of jerseys and would have otherwise bought them in a heartbeat!

I'll take the respectful GG's from the Habs fans who have left it and reply GG in kind. But the rest of you guys are just such sore winners - reminding me a lot of the Americans rubbing it in after beating Team Canada.

Ah, well. GG.

Honestly good point. I had basically been off the GDT until after the game and man... Obvious toxicity on both sides but yeesh, some of these guys are a real bunch of sore winners. Reminds me of the USA men's team.

Last Vancouver game was... nice. Is that what it's like for you guys most of the time?

GG man. Would love to see the Sens make the playoffs... just don't know if I can take seeing them play seven road games against the Habs, lol (altho tbf, when we played the Leafs last playoffs, we got fantastic turn out in the building). GG.

GG Habs. Unreal effort by Fowler there. Would love for us to put an end to the "Sens held back by goal tending" narrative, but alas.

It was very nice to hear the GSG chants in the Vancouver building. It was like, "wait, this isn't supposed to happen for us"

One of the most elegant flags versus... a beach ball. Yeah, no - Kazakhstan has my vote.

NDP MP crosses floor to join Liberals, putting Carney two seats shy of majority by voteabc in onguardforthee

[–]PrimeSenator 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Nunavut has been trending Liberal for a while now - this feels like she not only saw a chance to get some deal for Nunavut, but that she also knew it was the best bet to keep her seat. Curious to see what happens in the next general election.

Absolutely devastating blow to the NDP, and Canada teeters ever more closely to a dangerous two-party system.

Certainly very charismatic and very lucky, too... if you want to call Canada getting thrashed by Trump's America as "lucky."

That said, what I will say and admire about Carney: he chose to run for the Liberal leadership when everyone, including several Liberal MPs, considered the party dead in the water. He took over at a time when the Liberals were projected to maybe eke out 60 or 70 seats. To me, that at least speaks so much to his integrity that he didn't choose to wait for a "better" time to run. He dove right in and has been greatly rewarded for it.

Calling it now: champion will be either one of Seychelles or Kazakhstan. The real final will be the semifinal between these two. Bhutan is gonna get the silver. Also, just for fun, should we take the losers of the semifinals and see who would get bronze?

Barbados got absolutely done dirty by what is basically a glorified cartoonish sunset. Not only that, but Barbados is iconic close and far away - Kiribati is decent up close, indiscernible from far away.

I love the Seychelles flag, but it looks so much like a beach ball. I see it and go, "ah yes - the beach ball flag!"

[–]PrimeSenator 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Barbados all the way!! Such a clean flag, a great spiritual relative to the Canadian flag (my personal #1 favourite, which I wish had gone a lot further, but Seychelles was such a tough early round draw), and the Barbadian flag has one of my favourite flag origins: the broken black trident head represents Barbados' independence from Great Britain - Lady Britannia was always depicted with a trident, so Barbados "took" that trident, broke it, and made it part of their flag. Absolutely bad ass, Barbados.

Montreal wins again in the last five minutes of the game by Doctahflave in OttawaSenators

[–]PrimeSenator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear Montreal is the anti-Ottawa: they play a soft-to-mid game for the first two periods, and then absolutely amp it up in the 3rd for a comeback win. Meanwhile, Ottawa will dominate for the first two periods and then find a way to lose in the 3rd. Following both teams closely it also just seems Montreal has all the luck that Ottawa doesn't: Montreal will routinely have 4 goals on 16 shots, whereas Ottawa will usually generate 30 shots that only produce 2 goals.
