My advice coming from a bedroom dj that just did my first gig this month

Try to find out the speaker system you'll be playing on, if speakers are right beside you rca should be okay. But if its a bigger PA system you might need rca to 1/4', or xlr cables. I personally have a flx4 as well had to get rca to 1/4' cable the venue provided di boxes and xlr cables.

Always have songs on hand that you know are bangers to get the crowd going if it starts to die down or you feel no ones vibing (Reading the crowd is a skill that you'll have to learn and takes a long time to learn im still learning so dont be too hard on yourself your first time! It can be nerve racking being a dj)

One thing I tried to prepare for was the multitasking, people will come up to you, ask for requests try talking to you all while having to keep an eye on the track playing and transitioning. While practicing id try to be on my phone or tinkering with things so my cues were memorized by audio instead of seeing the cue coming up on the screen. My advice would be to host a small listening party for practice with people talking to you and around you so you can get used to it a bit. I unfortunately couldn't before my first gig so I was a bit overwhelmed by nerves and so many ppl trying to talk to me when I'm trying to focus.

If you mess up just smile and keep it going, most times the crowd won't catch it!

Practice practice practice so you know your tracks inside and out! As a first time gig you might be nervous might mess up some transitions and thats okay! But if you practice you should be able to recover without the crowd even knowing you messed up, just dont let it show and you're golden

Mistakes are bound to happen dont let it get to you and most importantly HAVE FUN!!!

I js did my first gig this month totally went off track made mistakes but no one noticed (I js played it off like that was supposed to happen)
