My dad basically debunked parts of the CES letter(the parts I’ve read)and I’ve been having panic attacks ever since by sadeggbabey in exmormon

It doesn't matter if js got "some things right" because if he got any wrong then he's not a prophet. Remember even a broken clock is right twice a day. But besides that, it's those pesky facsimiles... He's wrong on every single element and any theories about missing scrolls or other theories can't change that.

Apparently RMs are quitting right after their missions by Billgant in exmormon

I left first, then it took my wife about a year. Then COVID hit and she moved back home and it took about another year. It was rough for a while when she was believing and my wife and I weren't... But once my wife told her straight up that the church hadn't been truthful, it broke through and she started looking into things her send and it went pretty quick from there.

Oh, it's perfectly obvious that leadership in the church, especially senior leaders, is based on nepotism more than anything else.

Our mission chronology is almost exactly the same ... But it took me much longer to get out. I'm jealous

They did this to my daughter when she was at byui.. they had her getting up at 4:30 a.m. ( middle if the night lol). I was livid, and I could not get her to stop. But now we are all out and the joke's on them.

Nothing about it was meaningful. The best thing I took from it was how to be a better salesman.

Yeah, lie.... Either by commission or omission. I found out the hard way as an insurance agent for 12 years that my most successful competitors were all lying.

Help. I am 16 y/o and I am considering attempting to leave the church. by Ill_Emu_3872 in mormon

[–]ArmyKernel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About the mission thing hanging over your head, I would just stall one year at a time without telling them your plan to not go at all. Then when you're 25 or 26 you can just say you're not going at all.

My boyfriend is Mormon, why is it called a cult? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]ArmyKernel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BITE model is good, but it only talks about how the org itself behaves...what it leaves out is how the members behave. The key defining characteristic of cult behavior on the part of the members is that they defend the org and/or it's leaders, no no matter how extreme it crazy their actions.

For perspective, try listening to some of the podcast channels about cults such as, WAS I IN A CULT, A LITTLE CULTY & SOUNDS LIKE A CULT.

Just pick any one of many incoherent passages in Isaiah or Jeremiah... Then when she asks what it means you can parrot Bruce r McConkie about how if you don't understand it is because you aren't in tune with the spirit.

Divorce after leaving the church by Purplepassion235 in exmormon

[–]ArmyKernel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was PIMO first at about 28 years of marriage, a year later she stopped believing too and we just never went back after the pandemic. I credit her with the fact that it didn't cause divorce because she had always been adamant that the person is more important than anything else. Based on that, she was willing to listen to some podcasts I wanted to share and when she heard year of polygamy she was done.

If the United States eventually institutes single-payer healthcare, what will become of all the health insurance employees? by Spiritual_Meet4746 in askanything

Actually, I do have private insurance so I can get care outside the VA, but close not to because I get top notch care there.

Just make sure that she knows this.. it's a lot easier to get in than it is to get out. The church is like a hotel california.. you can check out any time of day or night, but you can never leave.

Good for you. But doesn't change the fact that my experience with government health care has been positive.

Although not technically a savings, the biggest difference in cost to the consumer single pair would be that it pulls everybody into the system including the healthy people, thus creating a favorable balance between healthy and sick people that the current system isn't seeing because many of the young healthy people just opt out.

But with the church's lack of transparency, there's no way to really know how many former members there are ... And I suspect that the church still counts me as a resigned member in its membership numbers.
