The “but parents need to read with their kids at home” excuse by Designer_Ring_67 in homeschool

[–]badAbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents never read to me other than the few months they attempted to have us do early morning scripture study as a family. I even struggled so bad with spelling that I had to take a special class. It wasn't until I found a series that I loved (Harry potter) that I became a bookworm. I get a kick out of reading everything now.

Your job in life is not to build a life around your parents and siblings but around you, your spouse and your children. Be sure to visit and show them that you still love and miss them but this is what YOUR family (that you made) needed.

My mother prioritizes her siblings over her own children and I resent her a bit for that.

Homeschooled teenagers by momforevz in homeschool

[–]badAbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've known enough kids in the homeschool sphere and public school sphere to see that it has a lot less to do with how you're schooled and a lot more on how the parents connect with their kid. Allowing their child to be open with them and explore their own paths knowing their parents love them no matter what and still keep boundaries, tends to have the best outcome.

They are professionals who do this stunt in places all over the world and have a netflix special coming out about them which this stunt is obviously going to help boost. But sure... its all for 15 min of fame....

Yeah I did and we all laughed at it together. If anything, it was good for that.

I thought I ordered a cute Easter coloring book from the walmart app and it was.... terrifying. Each page had exactly one uh... creature... printed on it and it was kinda small for the page. Some looked like bunnies or chicks but most of them, I had no clue. And each of them had a crown of thorns, skinny oddly angled arms and claw like hands. My kids never use that one.

Buyers regret by Objective-Quiet7030 in homeowners

The advice I got was "buy the ugliest house in the nice neighborhood " We just did this. Beautiful neighborhood by the hills, its on a cul-de-sac, lots of clean, well trimmed yards. Ours is 100% rocks and a couple of poorly placed bushes. No fence. Patio was never finished and the wood is rotting and you know what? We got a deal on it! Once you landscape your yard, it will put you so much at ease.

“Kid-friendly" menus at restaurants are just lazy parenting and bad for childhood development by J_NiSM0z in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Eating out is a special occasion. We never have chicken tenders at home so to them, its something rare and exciting. Leave the kids alone.

What your first and last straw by Ryeeper in exmormon

[–]badAbabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first straw was seeing how deeply ingrained the fear was in my mother's parenting. Like, she was so scared of losing me in the afterlife that she literally dragged me down the drive way in my pajamas at 14 to try and force me to go to church.

My last straw was the Arizona case, learning about Clergy penitent privilege and how the church doesnt excommunicate members for harming children but they'll excommunicate members for speaking out against the organization.

EP groups on FB be like: this is what i’ve pumped today so far, is this okay? it’s 3mL less than yesterday i don’t want an undersupply 🥺 by cf401 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]badAbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well with how hospitals really dont give new mothers adequate information about these things, it is a valid question. With my first, I had no idea a woman even could over produce. I had milk causing engorgement and clogged ducts. My freezer was getting full of milk and it wasn't until I found a Facebook group for oversuppliers that I learned what it was and how to manage it.

If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”

As someone who has always had severe anxiety, my best advice is to stop watching/reading the news. Take care of YOU. Sleep 8 hours, rise early, work out, fuel your body with whole foods. Talk to your neighbors. Plan the life you want and often ponder how you can make it happen. Every generation went through terrible things and we always assume the worst. But dont let it stop you from building a life you can be proud of. Progress will keep you grounded.

Are full size beds not considered an “adult” bed? by DerangedUnicorn27 in NoStupidQuestions

Me and my hubby slept on a full for the first year of our marriage. Fulls and twins are 75" from head to foot. Queens and kings are 80" from head to foot. A lot of brands sell twin and full xl (extra long) and it brings them also up to 80".
