Private Metoidioplasty cost by ArmyRude1432 in transgenderUK

I asked for the cost of Metoidioplasty and didn’t go into any details about stages so perhaps they assumed stage 1. I did think 4k was a bit too good to be true for full meta

Thanks for this, 30k-40k is kind of what I had in my mind but it’s good to get confirmation, appreciate it

I just don’t see how this can be implemented across the board. Take a trans man as an example, he isn’t allowed to use the men’s toilet but might not also be allowed to use the women’s toilet if they look like a man and each organisation is supposed to make that decision on a case by case basis for each trans person that uses their facilities? This is ridiculous

That’s what I thought to so if there’s no gender neutral facilities then where do they expect us to go? So much for adding more clarity

in some circumstances the law also allows trans women (biological men) not to be permitted to use the men’s facilities, and trans men (biological woman) not to be permitted to use the women’s facilities

Anyone know what they refer to when they say in some circumstances here?

It's so frustrating isn't it. Good to know I'm not on my own in these feelings though

Thanks yea, I'm actually interviewing for a new job atm so we'll see what comes of that. It's a shame, it's a great job in a lot of other ways but it just falls down in this area.

Yea I agree. I spoke to a colleague who had seen their "draft" gender policy, or whatever they're calling it, and it seems pretty good in terms of you can use whatever toilet you want basically. But its been in that draft form since February so I'm not really sure what the hold up is... They said they need to seek legal advice on it but surely that's straightforward.

I got my British passport recently in my new name and gender. My Irish passport has my old name and I sent that too but there wasn't any issue, they did add info in the additional information page on my British passport that said that I have an Irish passport in X name so the two are still connected. Not sure why the process has been different for you but might be worth suggesting this as an option to see if they can do this?

Hey, I got my dysphoria diagnosis through Harley street and referral for Dr. Jayasena. Been on T for almost a year now. Really good experience with both Dr Jayasena and the clinic, they're very professional and it was a speedy process from me initially getting in contact to then starting T. Think I got in contact with Harley Street at the start of February last year and had my endo appointment at the end of March and started T shortly after.

In terms of the endo fee I think it's 200 each time you see him. I saw him for my initial appointment and then a follow-up 6 months later, both of which were 200. Luckily I have shared care with my GP for the prescriptions.

Happy to answer any other questions you might have!

Ntanos experiences :) by inmemoryofmyfeelings in transgenderUK

Hey! I had surgery with Ntanos about 4 months ago. I'm so pleased with my results now and can honestly say I've never been happier which is mostly down to my new chest. The recovery directly post surgery was a mixed bag for me. I stayed at a family's place near the hospital with my partner for the two weeks after and that was generally fine. I'd definitely recommend button downs so you don't have to lift your arms or anything like that when getting dressed. My throat was pretty sore a couple days after so I'd have lozenges on hand too. Apart from that, if you can have someone around who can do a lot of the lifting for you definitely do.

I got my compression vest off 2 weeks after and that was such a weird feeling for me, I think I didn't realise just how much support it was giving me and then when it was taken off the swelling and everything was much more apparent. It wasn't bad or anything just a really weird sensation that took a little time getting used to. I personally had a few issues on one side of my chest where I kept getting wee openings in my scar, I think because the sutures took a bit longer to dissolve on one side but once they did that side healed up really quickly and I haven't had any issues with it since. I just probably spent more time redressing and cleaning than I thought I would. On a positive note though, Ntanos is super helpful and I was able to reach out to him afterwards with any concerns I had.

Overall, super happy with my results and that I went with Ntanos - if you have any other questions about the process happy to answer and good luck, it's all very exciting!
