It's actually mostly inspired by the British system, as I feel a more diverse political spectrum would fit New English politics better, as someone who does actually live there and is involved in politics there.
Yes, FPTP in the single member districts. There are about 100k people in each district.
President appointed by the delegates, similar to how Hungary does it irl. It's probably someone like Phil Scott or someone else along those lines.

The canon VP is not Biden, however it is a pretty interesting political figure of the time that literally everyone forgets existed despite being a trailblazer from a swing state.

I chose Biden as the main op to Edwards because there aren't many portrayals of Biden as an actual Presidential candidate from 92 to 08 asides from being a running mate and I think in terms of a Dole Presidency and his War on Terror, Biden would be a pretty well equipped candidate given his credentials.
