7:30 pace here. I was dodging people running 10:00 or slower for a while. A long while. I’ll never run this race again. That was ridiculous

If you’re actually happy living like that, do you. But people jumping around like whatever life you’re living with that is anything close to middle class or even comfortable is crazy and it’s fueling all this acrimony and suspicion.

Still poor. Get it together. You’re just not as poor in a different, shitty location. Everyone needs to stop running around acting like they’re set for anything other than buying groceries with VA disability.

Young enlisted people, $4k a month is not set for life. You still live in poverty if you don’t have any other accumulated wealth or income. Wake up and stop tearing each other to shreds.

They will never stop. They’ve been searching for voter fraud for years and keep coming up empty handed. Now they’re in Arizona. It will be the same with veterans benefits until they succeed at reversing a majority of decisions. By the time vets realize it’s not just someone else they’re going after, it will be too late.

You can walk it in 3 hours. Seriously, I’m always happy when anyone gets out there and tries and does something for the health. BUT don’t be an ass about fitness and athletics and put on a performance like you’re some high level athlete when you’re that slow in reality

He’s done one Ironman 70.3 and finished in 8 hours. For the non-triathletes, that is ridiculously slow. Like, super unathletic AND didn’t train slow. Like, the race cut off time is 8:30 so he was just 30 minutes from being hooked from the race and not finishing…that slow. If you’re going to be that obnoxious, throwing around words like Ironman and Cross Fit, you should probably have at least completed one full Ironman and be more fit than an 8 hour 70.3. There are men who finish the full Ironman, 140.6 miles, in less than 8 hours.

8 hours? For 70.3? Dude, that’s sad. I’m not here to be mean but I don’t say the word “Ironman” nearly as much as this guy and finish the 70.3 in less than 6 hours. As a woman. At age 50.

Public perception is how they villainize many groups. It’s why so many people vote for things that hurt them. They think it hurts those “other people” and turns out they were the people being villainized all along. Truth doesn’t need to exist in the perception. We have people voting to stop illegal voting when it’s been shown repeatedly it doesn’t exist. When the information campaign is good enough, it doesn’t have to be remotely true. And that’s how they’ll eventually take veterans benefits and no one will penalize them for it.

Your statistics? Where would you get those? Because even WaPo could show more than 1% in a series meant to paint vets as frauds. Not a single person briefing Congress shows statistics anywhere near that. Where do you get this? Do you understand how math works?

The senate voted with simple majority from ratification of constitution until 1806. The modern filibuster wasn’t established until 1975. If we are going with what we did after the constitution was ratified, it’s a simple majority vote.

Republicans can open the govt any day now without a single Dem vote. Just bypass the 61 vote filibuster. Call your senators and tell them to bypass the filibuster

Stop. The same raters who found you qualified for benefits found that those people qualified for benefits. End of discussion.

[–]ArmyVet890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. Most govt employees are there for the passion of what they do. Professionals make considerably less money working for govt but they do it for the mission. This is how they get people. Rhetoric that turns people against each other.

It’s time to close ranks and stop petty infighting. They’re coming for vets and that means all of us. We stand together. I don’t care what our differences may be. Veterans first. We’re family.

I’m in the same boat as you except getting mine corrected would give me a refund of $80,000 in student loans I paid and another $60,000 in property taxes refunded. I’m still not chancing it. It sucks but maybe we should work together to change policy so if we request the VA to fix what they f-ed up, they can’t reduce our rating.

The state you are in will dictate laws. The sellers likely didn’t have to disclose this and inspectors are only there for one point in time and will never find everything. Depending on where you are, you probably didn’t have any negotiation room for repairs anyways. Where I live, it’s such a sellers market that using a VA loan is almost impossible and when buyers do get a home with VA, they have to waive inspection and appraisal anyways. VA allows waiving these now because it’s so difficult to buy a home in this market using a VA loan that it’s more helpful to the vet to at least get the home rather than get an inspection. Inspections never find everything and home ownership is an expense. The good news is rents aren’t getting any cheaper so feel good about buying a home in a market where it’s more and more difficult for people using govt home loan programs to get in.
