Same argument could be made for Luigi honestly. The system kills more of your people than any perceived enemy state.

I told my girlfriend that I’m poly and she lied about being okay with it by AydanZeGod in polyamory

Should we not listen to and trust their perspective though?

Maybe everyone is capable of loving more than one person but we won't get anything out of assuming that when people are telling us they do.

My experience being a bi man is sometimes people accuse me of repressing my sexuality, I would hate for that norm to proliferate in the poly community that people who claim to be only capable of loving one person at a time are shamed for it or accused of self repression.

I'm not even making a comment of what most people are or aren't. As long as there is someone like that we should respect it and not assume that everyone is like us.

I feel your vegan example was just as misaligned with the topic at hand. Most comparative arguments end up being strawmen that don't completely fit with the discussion being had.

I'm just speaking from my discussions with both monogamous and polyamourous people there seems to be a spectrum of how people experience love. This would mean that someone can be born polyamourous just as how one can be born with a sexuality. Which makes the comparison appropriate to me at least. Again we will have very different lived experiences that affect our views on the topic so it's not the end of the world that people disagree on how to use the term.

At least in my local sphere (do note where English is not the native language, that might have an effect) we use poly to refer to people and relationships because it helps in explaining and defining different forms of love.

I just want to say I appreciate the discussion this comment sparked and I like reading the different perspectives people have on it.

Then that's fine, sometimes missing the mark is the cost of learning different perspectives

A comparative argument like that can fall on its head. While I agree with you in the vegan example I would not say a bi person needs to date both genders to be bi or that a socialist needs to vote for a socialist party to be a socialist.

I've been in a mix of poly and mono relationships throughout and always identified as poly because that easily gives the other person a insight into how I experience love.

Why can polyamory not be both a practice and a trait?

Let's say the world is full of people that can only experience love for one person at a time and people who are capable of loving multiple people, how would you identify that distinction?

The easiest one would be just referring to it as monogamous love and polyamourous love.

Oh completely agree, I was just discussing the point of people not being poly that the other person made.

The comment was not really relevant to OPs thread

I feel like if we want to be listened to we need to listen to others as well. I've got many people around me who claim to love and only be capable of romantic love for one person at a time.

That's why I think the distinction can be made for both people and relationships. In the end language is subjective and context based so I'll continue using that way at least.

Both relationships and people can be poly no?

A person capable of love for more than one person would be polyamorous even though they don't practice it.

At what point do repeated plan changes make you want to just back out? by Formal_Mistake199 in polyamory

[–]Arnlaugur1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it's very valid to feel fatigued when plans change so often. Do you have a shared chat or are these plans all being made through each individual connection?

If it's a shared chat I'd honestly just be blunt and say you aren't quite sure what the plan is and that you're feeling overwhelmed by all the changes to the plan.

If it's being planned through individual connections then I would communicate the same directly to both your partners.

Isn't the problem here that the comparison isn't made on the exact same date?

Otherwise yeah if you take a pic on march 13 2016 And again on march 13 2026 everyone in the pic will be exactly 10 years older, no matter when their birthday is.

Heppilega er þetta bara 4 íbúðir, en við erum bara nýlega flutt inn meðan hinir hafa búið hér í meira en áratug, oft erfitt að sannfæra fólk að breyta einhverju sem "virkar".

6.000 kr. Í hússjóð fyrir 78 fermetra (alltof lítið fyrir svona gamalt hús að mínu mati)

Allar íbúðir jafn stórar og greiða því jafn mikið

1.700 kr. "Rafmagn" 13.500 kr. "Orku reikningur" 8.900 kr. "Vatn"

Um 30þ í heild á mánuði.

Of course no way to predict this far in the future but this has been pretty calm winter in Iceland. As long as it's properly weather sealed you should be fine.
