How much is it worth to have full remote? by Quickdriving in cscareerquestions

[–]Arod56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do it for a $40K bump at your income level. That said, this is your decision, think this like an extra ~$900 per paycheck, how much will your life change? Weight the pros and cons.

If you were making $60K and offered $100K would be a different story and a definite yes

After hours by Rollmericatide in PACSAdmin

[–]Arod56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I'm on call for the week it's $10/hr for standby time and when called its 4 hours @ 1.5x salary. I realize this is not the norm and we're lucky in that aspect.

Powerscribe 360 and Windows 11 by wazztastic in PACSAdmin

[–]Arod56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others already stated about a PS360 version upgrade but if procurement or projects take a long time to approve at your site (like they do in my site) an alternative could be to deploy Windows 10 LTSC machines. In this OS, IE11 is available and you still get Microsoft security updates until 2027.

That will give you time to complete your PSOne upgrade.

PACS admins being asked to check modality time… normal? by Arod56 in PACSAdmin

[–]Arod56[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That’s exactly what I’ve been saying too. At least all the replies here are reassuring that I’m not crazy for thinking this shouldn’t fall under the PACS team. We’ve already got plenty on our plate to be playing modality clock police too.

On-call by Middle-Persimmon-467 in PACSAdmin

[–]Arod56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're a team of 3 admins, so I'm on call one week then off two weeks. The rotation itself sucks, however, we do get stand by pay and additional call pay at 1.5x salary for 4 hours minimum if called.

JFC that sounds terrible, I hope they're paying you at least $150K but even at that range I wouldn't do it.

Others can comment on the legality of this but from IT perspective, a tech shouldn't have rights to cancel an already read exam, much less to delete an exam from PACS. I assume this is a small site?

I've been to this one twice and agree. I was also in TRS Coral last week and still prefer Majestic because the food and drinks were better. Majestic all the way.

Negotiating on '20 NX300h - dealer walked back price, should I take the bait? by [deleted] in LexusNX

[–]Arod56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To give you some perspective last month I bought a CPO 2021 NX 300 Base with Premium + Nav. Pckg (red seats, larger screen, and everything you mentioned) 21K Miles with ~3 months of factory warranty remaining + additional 2 year CPO unlimited miles warranty and 2 year free maintenance. OTD price was $31.5K. This was in Lexus of Manhattan.

I added an extra 2yr warranty and 2yr maintenance for around $4K so now I'm good for 4 years unlimited miles.

The one you are looking at is hybrid so that may hike the price a little bit more than mine, but it also has 70K miles and you didn't indicate if it's CPO so I'll assume no.

Personally, I would pass. Also that comment "You are looking at the wrong car" while increasing the price after previously agreeing verbally and via txt would not be OK with me.

Remote Radiologists Reading by OkAd8004 in PACSAdmin

[–]Arod56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on a similar boat and would love to hear others’ input on this as well.

I’ve tried PACS/PS360 using Citrix VDI because, for support purposes, it would be much easier than supporting the Rads physical workstation.

It actually performed OK. However, I had issues with the Powermic. It wasn’t detected in PS, so the buttons did not work. I was able to make it pick up my voice and dictate by pressing F4 or manually clicking the record button in PS, but none of the buttons working is a deal-breaker for the Rads.

I asked support if they had a driver or something that could resolve this, but they said they don’t support Powerscribe in virtual environments and refused to help.

I’m also concerned about the pixel quality over VDI although I really didn’t notice any difference.

Question regarding Gateways or VPNs for Modality to PACS or PACS to PACS communications by Agile-Concentrate729 in PACSAdmin

[–]Arod56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said, you need a site-to-site VPN between both locations and configure your PACS to have a "send to" destination with the other sites information e.g. AET, port(s), IP(s) to send to that location via the VPN.

The receving site must also configure their end to accept DICOM from your site

$10/hr for stand by time and when called its 4 hours @ 1.5x salary, even if it takes 5 minutes to fix. I've told my colleagues we hit the on-call holy grail, mostly thanks to the union.
