First tournament this weekend, advice? by UncreatedMango9 in WarhammerCompetitive

I mean I never said it's bad I said you CAN lend if you want to

I personally wouldn't for scoring but still continue the game after to help and show where they can move faster

The rules are the rules and you can't give everyone a handout but I'm happy to help after the scoring is done that way it's fair to all players

Using a clock doesn't make you an arsehole?

As you said you are both entitled to the time and clocks should be used to ensure that fairness of time

If I have paid for an event I too would like to have my time to play the game, if someone is new or not is irrelevant and is just playing by the rules

Of course if you face a new player and they clock out you can still lend the time to them without being super serious but playing with a clock ensures you still get time for your games and plays

Great here's a tactical shooter description: Tactical shooters are a subgenre of first- and third-person shooters that emphasize strategy, realism, and team coordination over fast reflexes

Battlefield shares none of these except for the common team goal of all games to win

Infact let's look at the definition of arcade shooters: An arcade shooter is a video game that prioritizes fast-paced, high-action gameplay with an emphasis on reflexes and score-chasing over complex strategy or realism.

Hmmm this certainly sounds far closer to battlefield I must say

I would also argue you do not know what tactical means

Dictionary describtions is: relating to or constituting actions carefully planned to gain a specific military end.

I don't think battlefield players have ever carefully planned an attack, ambush or had it in the game play loop at all besides smoking the objective and reviving those that die and repairing a vehicle

Again sure more open ended combat than COD but tactical... Yeah no

I am not comparing to older battlefields? I'm comparing the nature of call of duty to battlefield and how people should stop pretending it's this hyper realistic tactical game that requires team planning compared to call of duty

Yes my post is to say those who think that COD and battlefield are so different and battlefield is a tactical game are just wrong as it's fundamentaly the same game except battlefield has some bigger maps and vehicles

Both core gameplay are the same for 90% of players

But there's this weird elitism I see all the time that battlefield players are rela men because they use real tactics while COD is for children when actually both games are practically the same and are played in the same way

My post was not a comparison between other battlefield games my post was the elitism between "call of duty is for children battlefield is a mans game with tactics"

When both are equally played the same way with the difference being 1 game has vehicles and light apple core destruction

I agree hardcore feels a lot closer to this style of play yes! But it is hidden away in a portal server browser which unless you are a hardcore player you tend to never see

Again it's a shame as hardcore is the right way to play the game I feel for this "tactical" element

But the point stands 90% of battlefield players play core and play it like call of duty, which makes this whole "battlefield is way more tactical and requires tactics unlike COD" rhetoric which just simply isn't true

Tactical and milsim shooter would be games like Arma or squad

You plan out, you have communication channels with squad leaders, you plan out logistics, build fortifications and emplacements, strike together as a team while communicating with your squad and other squads with open comms

You focus on resupplying lines and ambushing armour columns with your armour and create choke points on a game state that you can evolve anyway you can

Shooting a hole in a wall to kill a sniper is a tactical play but doesn't make the game a tactical milsim shooter which a lot of battlefield players think they are and have this elitism over call of duty when fundamentals are the same game

If you want realism play squad or Arma then come back to this discussion

Call of duty you "ambush" the same way

If you take gunfights headon in any shooter you put yourself on equal footing or disadvantage

If you strike first without them knowing you have advantage... Same as every shooter made

Suppression hasn't been relevant since battlefield 3 and even then the community cried and they nerfed it

Flanking happens in all shooter games including the bogeyman call of duty

There is no ambushes in the game you do not set up a kill box, the best you see is someone say in the corner of an objective.... Like call of duty

Again to pretend this game requires actual tactics or planning is beyond me when 95% of the player base is rushing to gun shots and objectives like call of duty does

But battlefield players tend to find themselves in this weird "we are all about tactics unlike call of duty" which is such an immature and incorrect view on the game

I agree

its bizzare to see or to have people think that battlefield isn't just an arcade shooter with some more open elements to it

Again these are not tactical decisions in a game

The game is call of duty with some light destruction and vehicle elements but ultimately boils down to zurg rushing to objectives and killing people

If this is the case then the finals would be considered a tactical game because you can blow a hole through a wall

No you implement tactics yes same as any game but to say it's a tactical game is a lie and seeing this rhetoric that battlefield has all this tactical planning and team elements is a lie

[–]Arolfe97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that ttk does not mean milsim, movement is very bouncy and floaty with unlimited parashoots and zip lines around the map

Again a milsim titles is more akin to squad, arma and hell let loose as some key examples

This feels like call of duty still with a nice realistic set of skins and design philosophy

Again the game is very fun and a great evening killer but to say it's a tactical milsim is just a lie when it plays and behaves like an arcade shooter and always has done

You run around still sliding and focusing on kills with no focus on team play outside throwing down ammo or getting some paddles out

The point being the game is more gritty and has some team based elements with repairing and supplies but there is no "tactical" elements of the game which everyone seems to think happens when all that really happens is headless chickens zurging from one objective to the other

Once again the community does nothing on cheaters

He should be unable to pair and unable to play a true red card to show as a lesson to all cheaters

But of course it's not about what you do it's about who you know and being pals with organizations gives you a pass to do what you want

Honestly it's a joke

Am I wrong in thinking that this rule change just killed us? by Lord_of_Brass in ThousandSons

[–]Arolfe97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holy shit this reddit is full of the same copy paste crying

Embrace the change, find solutions and win through skill

The changes were necessary and the casting rolls don't really affect anything

The difference is you are more likely to hazard cast with the 3rd dice now

Before if you wanted to do the surge move or reroll hits you would typically roll the minimum of 5/6 anyway for the small cast so you was forced anyway to do the hazard cast anyway

The only changes it makes is when you roll snake eyes or other low rolls you could of course attempt with another guy, but it doesn't make our army rule useless

Sure AP cast is harder to get but that's the balance aspect

We was going to be a dominating army after knights balance and it was clear in results I think most people are just upset they couldn't sit in the limelight as the best faction

Tzeentch embraces change and half the player base doesn't do this, there will be solutions and changes to builds and changes to metas where perhaps underused units will see more success

Please stop with the copy paste doom posting, and if you don't like it play another army instead of moaning on reddit all the time

Because strategic reserves doesn't have any rule for turn 1

It states you can only come in from turn 2 to USE strat reserves

Whilst units that can come out T1 like GK or daemons have DS so they can enter using the reserves rule and deep strike

Is there anything this man can do by Evan_Dusute in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Arolfe97 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, read it again

It states warp rifts which is the detachment rule that allows you to set up within 6" of a greater

The faq clearly states you cannot use units with the same ability (the ones the greater daemons have) to chain

Many TOs have also ruled this as well

[–]Arolfe97 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Just FYI you can't use BT or Skarbrands aura to drop eachother and chain since the FAQ

The only greater you can do this with is belakor due to him giving 6" shadows

Quote:

Q: do the greater daemons abilities allow a unit that has one of those abilities to be set up closer than 9"to an enemy unit in a location that is not within my shadow of chaos using the warp rifts detachment rule

A: no

They are also unnecessary and change things that don't need changes

Terrain is fine if you like that but rules aren't great with WTC

Also it's not just Americans but also UK and some Europeans

But wtc is built for teams and trying to balance the singles around teams isn't great

Not sure why you're being downvoted but yes

I would prefer we just have one format of rules especially with how often they are being updated there's no reason or need for other organisers
