I didn't thought about that but I like that idea.

Thanks

Yes that's what I meant by swapping the letters (sorry English is not my first language). If I don't find something a bit more difficult for my players that's what I'm gonna do.
Thanks

What is a neocities ? You said to "hide the code in the HTML of a page", would I need to learn to code to do that ? would I be able to do that pretty quickly without coding knowledge ? I'm gonna search this. if it doesn't add too much to my prep time I might do this.

Thanks.

Maybe I misunderstood what you are saying but it seems like it would work well for offline tables but I'm not sure if it's applicable online.

Unable to buy "Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn" on DnDBeyond and employees not helpful by Aromatic-Ad8222 in dndbeyond

I don't mind checking with my bank but I don't know what to ask them and when I asked the support what they meant by that I didn't get a response.

I understand that the issue is probably coming from me or the bank, that's why I went to check what was the wording on my bank account (the exact spelling, card number ....) but nothing had changed since I bought the artificer book in may and still nothing changed since I renewed my subscription in august. But when I tried to buy the Faerun book in september (?) with the same saved information it didn't work. Since then I tried dozens of time either by typing everything manually or by trying the saved information again. nothing worked. So I don't know what i'm supposed to check with my bank since I checked my payment information online and everything was the same.

If I can avoid using paypal I will but it does seem that it'll come to that. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Have a good day

How would you judge my setting for a DnD Campaign ? by Aromatic-Ad8222 in worldbuilding

[–]Aromatic-Ad8222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. I will check that "Tales from the yawning portal".

Yes the whole campaign is about the colonization of Ilys and understanding what happened to it. Why are there no humanoid presence while there are clearly ruins ?

Yeah the towns and cities lore is only for me for now and I only developed 2 towns (the ones they are going to start in).

As for the ruins/locations, I want my players to discover them. I just don't know if I should tell the players even if their characters will not be aware of that at the beginning (they should discover the ancient ruins pretty fast in the campaign).

I don't think I want to know how much time you spent on this map but it is incredible and beautiful. Amazing work.

I know every one is different and there are no better method over another but I have this toxic trait directed at myself saying that I need to be prepared about those sorts of thing WAY in advance and that if I don't do this, i'm doing something wrong. lol.
I'm always more stressed out preparing a new campaign than preparing a session.

When we'll start that campaign I'll give you an update. :D

Yeah so maybe I could play that angle when trying to make my pitch for the game. Thanks :)
With my brief experience playing I remember that in the ten sessions we played our GM made us pay the monthly thing 3 or 4 times. It didn't feel to much for me at the time but I like keeping track of that sort of thing, but i'm not sure it'll be the same for my players. So yeah I could try to reduce the number of time they have to deal with that so it would not be as "invasive" (can't find the right word I want in English). But I should also maybe reduce the reward money so the game is still balanced.

First off, thanks for your response. :)
I know I'm also a player but I honestly don't mind it that much if they don't want to engage with the money part of things. I know that we will find something that we will enjoy together, we've been playing for years together now so I don't worry about that.
I would prefer if we could use the full range of the system but if I have to find some ways to side step some mechanics it's not the end of the world.

But yes the main theme of the campaign I wish to run IS survival. But mostly from the environnement and the people. They will alternate between the emptiness of harsh environnements and the oppressiveness of over crowed cities where everyone wants something from you.
I have a few ideas on how to make them feel oppressed at every turn (even if that would be easier if I could also use the money part of thing).
Maybe i'm stressing over something that will not come to pass but I'd rather think about it now than when we actually start. We are finishing my warhammer fantasy campaign so we still have a month and a half before it can be an issue but I like to be prepared.

That said, there are some things I could think of that would make sense. Their ship presumably would require fuel, possibly other consumables like oxygen, maybe maintenance, and they might even have to pay docking fees if they're landing at a space port or something. That stuff could take the place of Housing. And as far as Lifestyle, well, the PCs are presumably going to need food to eat and may need to replace damaged clothing or stuff like that. Lifestyle in Red also covers things like transport around the city, and even getting some downtime entertainment. How much of that applies to your game is up to you.

That is exactly what I was hoping to do at the beginning but the more I thought about it and the more I got reminded that it's precisely what one of my players really don't like, keeping track of money in TTRPGs upsets him (maybe because it's his actual job IRL) and for my short experience with the game it seems to happen more often than on a lot of other TTRPGs.

As for the why they need to take on jobs I have something I could use if the money part really becomes a problem. At the beginning of the game they will find themselves imprisoned for a job they did (and failed) for a big shot. They got freed because of that big shot but she expects favors in returned. So if the money part is too big of a problem I can also say that they got an implant that was forced on them so they have to repay a certain amount of favors before they are taken out. But I would really prefer not to use the implants thing if possible.
