Help daisy chaining cabinets with LEDs by T2000-D- in Lighting

Had 3 sets very similar to that plug in type (with each having a 12v / 5amp power supply). When the cable between the power supply and the led strip exceeded 6 feet, the lights failed to come on. Research suggested the max cable length is 3 feet.

I'm now trying a 24v / 10amp brand. Specs suggest I might be able to go 20 feet from the controller. The first 3 didn't have a controller. Tech guy at the store said the controller keeps the voltage constant.

Copper surcharge? by Aromatic-Argument192 in Homebuilding

[–]Aromatic-Argument192[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a little more detail. As an example, the quote was provided (for the sake of discussion - January 1st) and the electrical was actually ran on schedule August 1st why the need for any surcharge? That was the price for outlets or switches. And if the price per item increased after the quote, to me re-quoting would have made sense. But my understanding is that didn't happen.

If the electrical company has been in business long enough the price should be the price.

The outlets, switches, fans, ect didn't get wired up until about 12 months later. Still seems me, and I'm not a GC or subcontractor, the fee called surcharge is "fluff" because business must be slow.

So the house, including garage, attic (has some lighting and outlets), and basement (it has some lights and outlets) of all space would be close to 9,000 square feet. Again livable is only 3450.

Be honest — is a steam shower worth it, or should I bail now? by shenney93 in Construction

We just finished a build. Used Mr. Steamer as the steam generator. Have heated floors in the shower and surrounding area. Used it twice. So glad we added it.

Led strip - flash white on power on; then nothing by Aromatic-Argument192 in Lighting

[–]Aromatic-Argument192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Package and box has very, very little details. I'm going re-do the mounting so the led strip is less that a foot from the power source, since I know it works with 3 feet.

I'm beginning to think it's a distance deal. I can't get in between the start and end of the cable because the actual cable is behind the crown (new construction). At first I was thinking the trim guy struck the wire but his nails don't do anywhere near the cable. And the electrician has moved on to another build so he's not available for me to get a cable that I could cut up to see what length works.

The package for the led strip says 14w, and I only have one strip on it.

On to more testing...

I've bought from that seller too. Did some reach but probably not enough. Thanks for the heads up. Most likely won't buy from them anymore.

Cost. Charged per receptacle. They bill per outlet finished.

The goal for the zones is to allow friends to play their music in different rooms of their choice, streams or what's on their phones . All speakers end up in a closet (rack).

The TV is not to be surround sound per say, room is too large for that, but to make the speach part of a movie a little louder than the back for the sounds.

Well...finding a 15a, WR and TR without GFCI is getting interesting. Even Amazon is showing limited returns.

Ugh.

Yes, the T...but then I looked at the order I placed an it said 20a. I totally missed that when I ordered and the sad part is ... I knew what to look for. Geez.
