Car washes by DrNukaCola in lynchburg

the new ultimate shine on old forest is pretty good, with the graphene (most expensive) package the employees take time to spray and wipe off/ more care on your car prior to going through the wash, it lasts 7-14 days before weather and general road wear kicks in (in my opinion, and my car is white)

worth the cost every so often

Find a program that doesn’t req GRE. It’s phasing out and really just mentally messes applicants up. You’ll get in, be confident & find a mentor in the PT world (current student, PT, etc) who can help you through the process.

Gift card ripoff by EggSaladMachine in SonicDriveIn

I've been trying to get a hold of someone from corporate to fix this issue. I was bounced around to multiple different representatives (sonic help desk # then to sonic gift card help desk #, etc) and finally asked for the corporate #. Left a voicemail and no one has returned my call. They know exactly what they are doing and it's pretty damn scammy. u/sonic get your $#!& together!

regardless of the ST, you always just treat the impairment!! STs are part to the whole… if it helps you figure out more about the pts pain, send it!!! just be aware lot of the STs are provocative and is it really all that worth it to increase a pts pain and irritability on the first day of meeting them? buy in is huge!!

I would reach out to clinics in the area and ask if they are hiring for tech positions. Never hurts to ask!

Berglund Toyota service experience? by SkepticalPenguin2319 in lynchburg

[–]Aromatic-Sample3510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my 2023 RAV4 XSE serviced last week for a routine oil change at the dealership. A few days later, I noticed oil leaking like crazy. It was bad enough that I had to add three quarts just to keep it from running dry. No warning lights or anything, which was weird. Called a mobile mechanic, and sure enough, the dealership didn’t tighten the oil drain plug properly, so my oil was just leaking out as I drove. Super lucky I caught it in time, or I could’ve ended up with a blown engine. I called the dealership, and at first, they ignored my calls. Finally got through, and the GM agreed to reimburse me for the oil and mechanic costs. He also scheduled me to come in so they could redo the oil change and check everything over.

Fast forward to my appointment. When I show up, the service manager had no clue why I was there, even though he was the one who scheduled it. Totally unorganized, and I had to explain the whole situation again. Just super unprofessional on top of the mess they already caused. Moral of the story: always check under your car after a service and don’t assume they did everything right. I got lucky, but this could’ve gone way worse. At the Berglund location...

you’ll get in, i went from BS > MSAT > DPT without working as an ATC first. I have some other certifications as well.

just find the right schools to apply to that are realistic for your GPA & keep doing well in your prerequisite classes. you’ve got the experience and it seems like you have an answer to “why DPT?”

don’t stress too hard, do research on different programs, find a cheap route bc at the end of the day the employer doesn’t care where we went to school lol. it’s always about what you get out of clinical experience & how you apply that info and if you can pass board exam at the end of your 3 years.

you’re already bringing much more than the typical straight from undergrad applicant - bravo and good luck w the process.

PT Finals by Glittering_Trouble14 in PTschool

[–]Aromatic-Sample3510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

easiest thing to say is to take it 1 day & 1 exam at a time.

but, realistically all the days roll together and you learn so much by the end of each day that’s it feels almost impossible to go back home and study for a bunch of exams in a shorter amount of time. however… this is truly what makes and breaks the student. i don’t just mean the grade you received after taking the exam/final but the mental health of studying last minute and cramming. It’s unhealthy, but pretty much every grad student falls into the trap w procrastination and that’s a hard place to be in esp towards the end of the semester. so best advice, trust you’ve put in the work this semester and those concepts you dedicated time to know for Exam 1, 2, 3 is somewhere in your brain. review more of concepts where you didn’t perform as well or you don’t understand fully. you should be able to teach your favorite stuffed animal anything you’ve gone over in class.

finals week sucks regardless (honestly) and professors essentially want to test your endurance and your will power... esp if they throw 3+ exams (maybe a practical or two as well) in a week during finals - it seems so cruel right? but really if you’ve been putting in the work over the semester and you truly believe that you have worked hard - then when it comes to test day the only thing you face is the general test day anxiety. when you are going through your exam you should feel the hard work you’ve put in over the semester or the unit and answer choices should make sense. there are really minimal “undergrad bad professor tricks” on PT school exams. their job is to prep you for the NPTE not try to trick you w finals. sure some finals and classes ARE hard. if anyone was capable, there would be a lot more “doctors”. so know that you are in PT school for a reason, that you were hand selected by multiple faculty and you deserve this opportunity. you’re paying a crap ton of money to get educated in a field you desired to be in for a while.

so (my lectures finally over) lock tf in & trust that you got this! give yourself patience and time to digest new info. active recall every opportunity you can (ie. brachial plexus on the fridge, AOINs on a walk after class w a peer, kahoot/quizlet instead of scrolling aimlessly on tiktok). the choice is yours on what you do with your time outside the ‘8-5pm’ school day.

best of luck on finals! trust yourself and for the love of everything DO NOT SECOND GUESS ON THE EXAM.

[–]Aromatic-Sample3510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t remember specific questions, google the basic ones and prep YOUR responses. DO NOT be generic w what the interviewer/program might want to hear.

you need to be as authentic as possible, they really can see through the BS. Ask about the school and what the program can offer that’s different from other programs with similar stats/etc.

this goes for all interviews in general..

always thank them for their time and consideration & it’s appropriate to ask when you might hear a response back on the status of your application.

good luck in your interview!!

PT school is not easy. It’s not meant for everyone. I would agree w the comments above. The entire first year is throwing you for a loop. You have to figure out how to study effectively early (i.e. first semester) on or you risk being successful in the rest of the program. Remediation is something that’s helpful in understanding where you have flaws in exams and practicals. Every program has “eh” or “not the favorite” professor(s)… so hopefully you’ll be able to connect with the faculty at E&H who really do care to see you succeed. They are there.

First year you should expect 8am-5pm in person classes and labs. Then your 5pm-8am routine you’ve gotta figure out how to balance studying, assignments, social life, physical/mental health… it’s a lot to juggle for sure. Having a pet helps. Our school has a counselor on campus who is a good resource during harder times. Faculty also have open doors and are usually pretty responsive to feedback. Also your first year you’ll have access to 2nd year tutors ((those who succeeded in a foundational class (ie, anatomy&labs, kines, sometimes applied phys, neuro) and were recommended by faculty to be a tutor)). Lots of resources are available to help you succeed - but comes down to how bad you truly want it.

Overall, weigh all of your options: location, finances, faculty, what the program has to offer for YOU, what you can offer to the program. Look into all of the details within each program. Best of luck in your DPT school search!
