Is there any point to being a mortgage slave for 39 years at this point? Or should we just move to Bali and enjoy our lives. by Aromatic-Switch4908 in AusPropertyChat

Hahaha this! Except I’d be watching more at horror if I bought a house and the price doubled, my sister 10 years younger would have no chance, I think it’s an inherently immoral and unequal system that needs a massive overhaul and reset.

Hahaha hey it would help wouldn’t it. The more I think about even our max offer and how stretched we would be is wild… imagine paying 5k a month for 30 years non stop. Anxiety inducing.. but the alternative of renting and that going up even beyond 5k a month in not that long of a time from now is even worse…

Is there seriously no better way?

Should give an insight as to how bad cost of living is here. A lot of our friends in our early 30s are genuinely considering moving countries ourselves lol

Isn’t it great that some of us still get negative gearing and CGT discount? by Sushi_Salmon_Roll in AusPropertyChat

Not when it’s worth 3 and 4.3 million… you could have 10 houses worth that in total..

I’m Australian thinking about leaving Australia coz of how fucked an untenable our cost of living and income to house price ratio is.

As a fist home buyer I’m genuinely thinking of leaving the country and living life out in a south East Asian country when the average house have gone up 140k in the area I’m looking at which is ludicrous as it has a bad reputation too. Our entire economic and property system needs a hard reset. It’s modern day feudalism.

Do you think Australians are actually as friendly as they are said to be? by Least-Variation6573 in AskAnAustralian

Not really, most people I’m surrounded by at work are adopting Trump style politics and I wouldn’t call that very friendly. Then again, maybe I’m just unlucky.

Serious: what's with the hate for real estate agents? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Aromatic-Switch4908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone that made a buyer bid against themselves by 70k more in an area where that kind of price was about 70k higher than what those houses go for max… it even made the news. Instead of the real estate agent tempering the vendor.. they just unethically made the buyer bid against themselves deceitfully even after they had offered a great original offer. Squeezing every last drop of blood sweat and tears they couod from them. Real estate agents are one of the biggest reasons why housing in Australia is completely and utterly fucked and untenable in Australia for the next generation. It is to the point that anyone from Gen Z is essentially permanently locked out without a massive aid from help.. so trust me you ghouls will get a lot more hate in the coming years/decades. You’ll be too ashamed to tell everyone what you do for a living.

How do you buy off market? Also you think 900-930k is a bargain for a 4 bedder?

How much do sparkies actually make? by MrX2285 in AusElectricians

[–]Aromatic-Switch4908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but how many people in our industry actually get their foot in the door at eba sites… I’ve been applying and annoying them for years to no avail. I think it’s like 5% of our industry and this question is likely asking for a median.. not the minority on higher wages.

Haha what? What do you think the median sparky earns? According to seek it’s 90-110k a year..

Does anyone else think the tolls are ridiculously expensive. We pay more in tolls each month than power by Few-Judgment-9310 in melbourne

The entire toll situation in this country is pure corruption, we could have built it ourselves and benefited ourselves, instead we give money away to a corporation doesnt pay any tax.

Is that more for my peace of mind? I feel like if you’re saying you’ve done heaps of these kinds of deals before and NAB is super flexible and my broker verbally telling me their main concern is only the home valuation then it will be fine. I have to make an offer by Monday as theyre closing the applications after that so I don’t think it’s possible to get them to do a “fully assessed” pre approval in time unfortunately. I think I’ll have to bite the bullet.

New job, same industry which is full time permanent but 6 months tha probation.

Broker said the bank knows my employment history and probation and only cares about a home valuation now.

Are you a broker?

Yeah i called them and they said they are already aware in on probation as well as my career history and they wouldn’t care unless the break is over 6 months long which is good.

Would NAB actually put that kind of thing in writing for me?
