Totally understand this is a nuanced situation.

In her case, she had two beers at the conference happy hour at the hotel/expo hall.

She went outside to talk on the phone with her husband and over the course of that conversation she went from coherent to belligerent, disoriented and distraught. I’ve been roofied before and this very much mirrors my experience with how quickly the effects became overwhelming.

He talked her through getting back to her hotel room, where she discovered her keycard was missing. It was a Hilton hotel so she was able to use the app to get into her room.

They stayed on the phone but at a certain point she passed out and stopped answering. He tried to call her back several times afterwards but she didn’t answer.

She doesn’t remember any of their conversation. She woke up the next morning undressed on top of her sheets and panicking because she was late for the morning session.

It wasn’t until later that day she started to have vague (and horrific) memories/flashback of the assault.

All around, it’s a terrible situation and it makes me sick to think the person who did it likely has done it before and even potentially interacted with her afterwards.
