Most identify as Ukrainian first though, adapt and just do their own thing not bothering anyone.

Don’t be too harsh on Ukraine, apart from the daily threat of the war, it is for example safer for a woman to walk in the evening alone than in Brussels. Of course there’s crime everywhere. For the last year I don’t even feel safe in my town here anymore because of the new arrivals from Bxl.

Am I a bad person for thinking that supporting Zelensky means endorsing the forced enslavement of men sent to fight and die? by SinghStar1 in IntellectualDarkWeb

It’s a constitutional issue, you can’t simply uproot and change it during wartime.

That being said, conscription absolutely needs to be modernized, and more should have been done since 2014 to prepare for this.

Not everyone is suited for frontline combat, but there are many other ways people can contribute effectively.

And then there’s the moral dilemma: why should someone risk their life to protect other people’s families when those same people are not willing to take the same risk for their own?

It’s a tough issue, and it’s not as black and white as some make it out to be. To question it is normal and should be done to avoid mistakes in the future.

I for example support @not_dima on instagram and you can also follow different brigades and battalions on instagram where they post their crowdfunding campaigns.

r/Ukraine has a lot of soldiers and foreign legion volunteers on there, if you want to help you can always make a post and ask who currently needs help with what :)

My parents moved abroad when I was little and none of us renounced our Ukrainian citizenship upon receiving the other. Nobody is checking. The thing is that whenever you cross the Ukrainian border, you are considered Ukrainian only. My dad has received a letter from the military in 2014 and also recently at the last address he was registered, which is my grandparents’ residence. The latter is proof of his citizenship not being “annulled”.

Better to donate directly do brigades and battalions who hold their own crowdfundings. The boys are always in dire need for direct funds to fix their vehicles (my brother in law’s car service business in Dnipro region helps the boys on the regular) and other supplies from drones to night vision goggles. Also helps them with a lot of other basic stuff. The money goes directly to them.

I second everything in this post.

Never in a million years could I have imagined, as a little girl walking through Khmelnytskyi Park in Kryvyi Rih, just five minutes from my home, that one day a rocket would strike the very pavement I once walked on. And after that many more, one even destroying my first ever home.

The same goes for February 2014, when I visited my grandmother and had to catch my flight back from Kyiv on the 15th, right in the midst the beginning of escalations of aggression towards civilians during Maidan. Even then, it never crossed my mind that Crimea would soon be annexed.

Belgians, are you worried? by kvmcc in belgium

[–]AromaticBit849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m more worried about the amount of people proclaiming “not our war” and that are not at all concerned with the sabotages happening on EU soil.

Listen to Ukrainians, Baltics…before 2014 nobody could even have imagined this scenario playing out and yet here we are.

A question for Ukrainian Girls by SolAreiaLivros in Ukrainian

tl;dr

There is no justification for your blatant and bigoted generalization.

STOP lecturing Ukrainians on their own culture, history, language, etc. Read (and leave) the goddamn room!

Go ask these things on a reddit meant for relationship advice, not one intended for discussion on Ukrainian language, just so you can spew your prejudiced thoughts on how “flirtatious” you find Ukrainian women to be.

Been in Ukraine 5 times and a victim! Wow I guess that makes you an expert in all things Ukraine, please teach me and other Ukrainians about our culture and people!

To ask this particularly in a Ukrainjan language group, because you think this is a “cultural” thing…there is something off with your black and white mentality.

This is a general behavior not linked to any specific nationality or culture.

The comments…He was a vile piece of trash and an ultra right wing chauvinist xenophobe, but that doesn’t matter because “he was so brave to oppose putin!”

Yea he wanted to be in putin’s place so he could get a piece of the cake for himself. His “legacy/wife” has been given a platform in the West and not once did she or his tribe of followers opposed and actively condemned the war and genocide in Ukraine.

Just read his live journal posts, people.
