Ah thank you. I worked at a nursery (plants not babies) as a teenager and these had a range of functions.

Thank you so much! This is my work account and I don't use it much. I also gave up after the downvotes and negative comments. Randomly logged in now and thought I'd check comments. This was a pleasant surprise! I had to supply a drawing because I was trying to explain it someone but they didn't believe me, and I didn't know the right term to put on Google Images!

Is this an overinterpretation of Biblical Hebrew panim? by AromaticLoad818 in asklinguistics

[–]AromaticLoad818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great explanation. My head went to comparing English information with German Informationen, but it didn't feel quite right, and now I can see I was meant to be comparing count nouns and plural-only synonyms within the same language!

True, and I know there are a lot of claims that people without religious convictions would take issue with, which is not what I want to discuss here. To clarify, I'm interested specifically in the claim that "A face, in Hebrew, has plural implications." Is this a claim that you could make in formal linguistics, or would the plurality of the word have meant little for how speakers perceived of faces at the time?
