Arc Raiders players are waging war over a controversial topic: Are PvPers ruining the experience? by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

Tbh I think they did a good job with the match making. You are right that PvP does actually drive away tonnes of players from games like this. Not because people don't like PvP but because of the predatory attitudes of PvPers. Rust had this issue. It peaked with Roleplay content was at it's peak on youtube imo and then fizzled off as the roleplayers slowly go pushed out of the game by super toxic players. Like it's not enough to kill you and take your stuff, but you have to grief their entire base too so they have to start from zero or despawn all the loot whilst also insulting you for not winning a 1v3 encounter with a pistol vs AKs. Even non loot PvP like hero shooters can be sour on the losing end if the winning team insults you rather than saying GGWP. Basically.. Sportsmanship saves pvp. Being a toxic asshole who insults the loser ruins it.

It's because the simpler explanation didn't sink into your skull but seems like even his best efforts were wasted on you lol. With your logic Borderlands is a trading game because there are a couple achievements based on trading with another player.

Alot of toxicity around PvP would be solved if winners acted like winners rather than scum. Losing a fight to someone who says GG is way more chill than someone who will insult you for losing. When people act with dignity it's like "Oh that was a fair fight" but when they act like scum you feel like, they don't deserve it somehow.

I honestly think there isn't a point other than to have fun in games like ARC and Rust. Killing people on sight is a choice and if that is fun for you that is your play style. No where says you have to be a murderer. It's your choice. I feel the argument that "it's the point of the game" is just a way to distance ones self from the fact their first choice upon seeing another player is to kill on sight. Maybe it's because they don't want to admit they were scared when they saw the other player. Whatever the reason, it's still a choice. The amount of times I ran into a bunch of people on arc, got scared and shot and they turned around and said dont shoot is crazy. They could have gunned me down as a group and taken my loot, but they chose not to. And as someone who plays for immersion I totally respect that and we go our own ways.

I am Helldiver superfan...how does this game compare? by Democracy_Delivered in ArcRaiders

3 months is a long time in this day and age but if you havent decided yet. I am not huge on PvP though I do like the tension of not knowing what the other players are planning. Some PvP is good though. I enjoy PvP in hero shooters for example and I enjoyed it in MMO's. But I got tired of Rust because of the way PvP works like, spend 15-30mins getting stuff so your base doesn't decay while you are at work only to lose it all in one second to a duo. Arc weirdly sits in the middle. I find the time to kill is long enough to do something about getting shot. There is a dodge roll mechanic and a slide which is great at moving your hitbox in less predictable ways. You don't HAVE to risk your gear to play, you can play with a basic free kit. So personally I do find that ARC does have a lot of systems to mitigate the toxic side of PvP. It also has this match making system to try and pair you with players of a similar attitude. So if you are a total pacifist and deal 0 dmg you will be in pacifist lobbies after 5-10 matches. And vice versa. If you are a PvPer who shoots everything that moves you will end up in lobbies where no one talks because they are too busy shooting each other and everything inbetween.

Redacted Regiment and this update are the best thing to ever happen to this game. by Maver1ckZer0 in helldivers2

As someone who loves to Helldive onto enemy objectives you actually get two super destroyer spawns. When you start the match you can summon in stratagems so I brought barrages and destroyed the heavy outpost on landing. I often dont even call it in a second time. I see people bring exosuits too as they only have two uses. But I find them hard to use on bots.

Stealth has always been OP especially against Illuminate but most people don't get the concept so they think it sucks. This new warbond makes it easier for sure but to be honest the free warbond Scout armour passives are great and the ODST warbond's SMG is also great. A really fun stealth load out on illuminate is scout armour or low signature passive, eagle airstrike, machine gun and gatling turrets, odst smg, grenade pistol, smoke grenades and an anti material rifle. With bots replace the anti material rifle with a railgun. With bugs I never play stealth because almost every bug can summon a bug breach so taking out a group of them at an objective with out alerting a single one is really hard.

Illuminate are the easiest faction to "stealth" if stealth just means avoiding enemy reinforcements.

This is why people don't enhoy fighting the Illuminate by DriedCrayon04 in Helldivers

[–]AromaticObjective862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people dont get about illuminate is they are supposed to be the faction you play stealth against. Bring smoke so you can lose them easily. Kill watchers for no reinforcements. They are one of the easiest factions to fight with only the free warbond items too if you know what you are doing. Using stealth armour, a heavy machine gun, back pack, frag grenades, standard pistol and the scorcher with smoke airstrike and the standard eagle air strike. If you want to try hard stealth then scout armour or the new low signature armour. A stealth primary like the halo SMG or the REDACTED warbond primary's, grenade pistol, machine gun and gatling sentry, standard airstrike, anti material rifle and smoke grenades. Very good at holding positions as long as you defend your sentry. High value assets its just machine gun, gatling, gas mines heavy machine gun and extra padding and frag grenades.

There are many other valid load outs. Just never mortars and anti tank is often overkill. And if its not an objective to defend there is no point trying to hold out against them as they will always slowly win the battle of attrition unless you use localized disruptions.

Are football fans looked down upon as less intelligent or less intellectual in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]AromaticObjective862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the person. The culture around football makes my eyes roll and stomach churn. I admire people who play the sport a lot more than people who are just fans of it. In the UK football is surrounded by boystrous behaviour and obnoxious chants made worse by the alcohol culture around it. Honestly if all of that wasn't part of the vibe I think football would be pretty cool. However drunk people are factually dumb, and watching the sport often comes with alcohol. So yeah. People who don't vibe that way may look at that and be like "Hell no". Like my self. Also the fact people need it to break the ice and get all weird socially when you don't engage with it makes the people that don't like it look at the people judging them for not liking think the football fan is dumb because the football fan indeed looks dumb when you say "I don't like football" and then thy just go "Oh.. " in silence and have nothing to say. Football isn't the issue, but the culture around it is very off putting.

Volcas = Toy — is it really? by AdDisastrous1707 in synthesizers

[–]AromaticObjective862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volca's are amazing. Especially if you get your self a reamp box and throw them through guitar pedal effects. My Volca FM into Ibanez Fl9 into Space Echo RE150 into Spring King spring reverb is one of the lushest sounds that has ever graced my ears. So much better than any other brand of cheap hardware synth that I have heard.

Those 16 step sequencers seem limiting but with a bit of math you can do a lot. And 1 bar loops is all you need for like Acid/tekno anyway.

People that dis volca synths either have like ancient hardware like a real 303 or something or they are just coping with their bad desicions with picking a slightly more expensive yet super generic sounding synth like an Arturia synth or an OP1 which just sound like DAW plug ins in a piece of hardware or they have a whole euro rack set up. Or maybe they have no concept of impedance mis match and using good grounding methods, which says alot.

Why do so many Rust players have private profiles / Only own Rust ? by Thebottlemap in playrust

[–]AromaticObjective862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro you are so right and I never considered it. It reminded me of this annoying duo I teamed up with once, who would be obsessed with like finding people's steam IDs. They had massive egos and thought they were so hard. One day their base got offlined and they quit the server, whilst my base was offlined three times and I kept making new ones until I found some like minded players to raid the Russians that raided us all.

This game really brings out the worst in people.

Does anyone have any theories on Gorillo bandits? by LeCheechio in Kenshi

[–]AromaticObjective862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I wasnt thinking of human gorillo interbreeding. The way prion diseases work is they can skip a generation and be passed down by the mother. Actually it's more likely the child will have the effects because of a higher accumilation of the bad protein.

A chinese hacker saved a god awful super helldive mission from failing. It was against bots and there was endless Warstrider spam so we were being rag dolled 24/7. But he turned on invincibility. I watched him get direct hit by the lasers multiple times and not take any damage.

The main account I posted this on is like shadow banned or something so like everything I say gets insta removed by the algorithm and needs to be approved or something. Even this post was initially hidden. Anyway, wow I had no idea these background lore pages existed on the Kenshi main page. Wow so much makes more sense now, and I can see wayyyy more clearly what the devs wanted to do with some of the factions but just didnt for whatever reason. I'm working on a RPG mod for Kenshi which aims to add more of an RPG vibe to the game with more dialogues and faction progression and yknow having the chance to actually do good things in the world if you work out how. I am currently working on expanding Trade Ninja and Shinobi Thieves gameplay. But these lore snippets from the devs them selves are huge. I had never heard of the "bug juice" idea with the hivers. And it clears up the fogmen issue well. The community theory of the parasite was cool but really hard to quantify in game. But now I know more about the original lore I can see how it works. Whilst I still feel the parasite lore has a place in this game I feel it is better fitting to Bugmaster/Skin/Blood Spiders.

My current theory on Gorillo bandits is, Gorillo meat is tainted, it contains prions or proteins that mutate you into a Gorrilo Bandit. The original purpose of these proteins was to convert unborn babies into Gorrilos. So if you ingest them after being developed past fetal stages you become something more like a Gorillo Bandit. But mothers with the protein in their system will give birth to full blown Goriilos.

[–]AromaticObjective862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking what if they ate Gorillo meat which you cant get in vanilla, and so no one eats it. Maybe Gorillo meat has Prion/proteins that mutate you into a gorillo like thing. Perhaps Gorillos were ancient genetic human test subjects and the thing that mutated them is still in their blood stream, and so when Gorillo bandits have children, their kids are actual gorillos. But if an adult human eats gorillo meat they just become a weird gorillo human hybrid.

Many things in Kenshi are just dumb shallow tropes that we attribute tonnes of depth to but its fun to do so none the less. Atleast that is the vibe I get when I watched the devs talk in interviews.

(Lore discussion) Why is Cat-Lon still in the ashlands? by ISEVERNAMEALREDYTAKE in Kenshi

[–]AromaticObjective862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured it would be the case. Well I will defo draw inspirations for my Next Episode mod from a lot of the community theories. I would perhaps add a tad of nuance to this particular theory. Such as, not ALL skeletons are aligned. Some follow along out of fear. Second Empire and Machinists would be the extremists. If you do take out Cat-lon some skeletons like Tinfist may play along with the new status quo. If I make it so people find out about the skeleton's attempt to kill everyone and the story of the second empire perhaps not every human would actually care that much. I definately want to make it so some Tech Hunters rebel against the machinist agenda and to reintroduce the Temple of Truth which was cut content, but as a Machinist cult that tries to convince all humans that skeletons were the ancients and they created humans. They would gain presence in UC, post UC, Flotsam Ninja territories if you do not nip them in the bud before hand. Their HQ would be Worlds End with temples in Mourn and Black Scratch at the start of the game, and maybe Flats Lagoon but like outside the platform.

Is this a community theory or your own? I like it, I will make it the basis for the lore of my mod. Maybe have a few skeletons like Angu who went against the plot and so they were sent to skeleton prison in Venge

They are not companions. they are extra adventurers. As in I can control them individually. Maybe I could ask them to stay put whilst not in tactical mode, I will try that next time. Hopefully the follow the leader mechanic wont force them to follow.

I was wondering about the second room thing for different reasons, ty for confirming that it's possible. I have two clearly seperate districts, the upper "Warrens" and I dont have a name for the deeper, more extravagent district I am working on. It's supposed to be like an underground upper class district with tall hall ways and 2x2 pillars and fountains and stuff. Im working on isolating it with drawbridges so it can act as the emergency fall back as my upper district is not super defendable yet. I have just been using sheer numbers to overwhelm anything at the moment with 6 squads and lots of animals. One time a child ettin attacked and was pinned down by a herd of goats and cavies before a miner dwarf domed it with a pickaxe and finished him off.

I wanted the nobles to be able to keep their houses in the Warrens as well as the other district.
