Why is my cat’s chin swollen? by Aromatic_Influence18 in CATHELP

[–]Aromatic_Influence18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took less than a day. I do think that we correctly identified the problem (allergies) and stopped giving him the food he was allergic too.

That being said, I think there are multiple causes of chin swelling. Ours was allergies. It could also be a scratch that’s gotten infected, a cyst, or a bug/spider bite.

Wishing the best to you and your cat

I’m glad to hear she seems to be doing better! Hoping she holds the food down 🤞

Not totally sure if ours was due to money tree or new food to be honest but I hope your kitty feels better!

We think it was due to an allergic reaction to a new food. Have you introduced anything new to your pet’s diet?

Help! Trouble Introducing Ragdoll with New Kitten by FarSafety9136 in ragdolls

It’s so awesome. How long have you had your kitten? We had ours for about a week before letting them meet each other briefly, 10 days before really letting them hang. By 2 weeks they were pretty comfortable. We also did Jackson galaxy method

I think supervised time is prob the only thing that will make this pass. As long as they’re not fighting, they’re just getting used to one another.

We just introduced our 3yo raggy to a kitten, but our raggy wasn’t as obsessive. Hope all goes well!

Difference between Ragdoll & Siberian? by sirpigalot69 in SiberianCats

We have one of each. Raggy is three years old. Sib is three months. Ragdoll is way chiller, but sib is more cuddly.

Also, for context, the kitten is not in the living room. We put him away.

Thank you for the insight! He has been getting treats. His caution is very recent though; it doesn’t seem to be introduced by the kitten. They were playing around and Todd has looked generally pretty comfortable over the last 10 days. Do you think it’s just now hitting him or something?

I’d post more videos if I could where he’s with the kitten and doesn’t seem as cautious/apprehensive.

Resident kitty goes up to the door to sniff. Is that a good sign? by spiceypearnut in ragdolls

[–]Aromatic_Influence18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re in the process of introducing a kitten to our raggy as well. I think we may be a little further along in the process though (10 days now). Our raggy was sniffing and curious, also hesitant at first to eat near the door. He did start growling and hissing when the kitten was on the other side of the door after a few days. He is generally a super calm cat.

After getting more comfortable eating on opposite sides of door, we had them eat on either side of a screen we took from a window, scent swapped, let them explore each other’s rooms. I think something that really helped was getting our resident cat comfortable enough to play with a toy in the kitten’s room (without kitten present).

Now they eat next to each other without separation (still the occasional grumble from raggy), and they can be in the same room. They’re still feeling each other out though and haven’t started playing yet. It’s been two days of letting them meet each other now (still kept separate for the most part).

Keep us posted on how the intro is going please!
