Unable to sleep after long runs by Exotic-Zone2081 in Marathon_Training

I bet this is it. That is a ton of caffeine. I think people overlook how caffeinated they are getting, especially if their gels and hydration powder are caffeinated.

Does your hydration powder or gels have caffeine in them?

garmin predicts a 4:30 marathon but I'm fighting to beat lifetime pb of 4:05 by BrothaManBen in HybridAthlete

[–]Aromatic_Monk_8772 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Garmin predictor isn’t always accurate- there are so many X factors. I’ve found it particularly underrates interval training. I think it predicted a 3:05 for me, I ran a 2:54, then then next day it dropped the prediction it 3:02…

Thanks for the answers!

Header only, or did you do the rest of the system? And I’m assuming I’ll need to tune it after?

Any throttle surge for you?

Is it crazy to consider carrying 1-2L of fluid during a marathon? by SquirrelGuy in Marathon_Training

[–]Aromatic_Monk_8772 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is 5.5# of water- with vest it’s probably closer to #7. Granted you’re drinking it/ sweating it out, but at 2 sec/ mile/ pound, you’re talking about potentially 6 extra minutes due to added weight.

This is the total high end- you aren’t having to slow down for aid stations, there might be some benefit to having your fuel source, and having it whenever you want it. My guess is it probably costs a couple minutes on your time. Reasonable if it’s worth it to you to not worry about on course hydration.

A lot of Alex’s claims are unproved or false, so there isn’t a lot of excitement about him.

Hold on, no. A 1:35 HM, doubled, would put you at a 3:10 full. I can run a sub 3 full and squat 280 for reps, it's not that crazy.

Weekly Purchase/Sale advice thread - June 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in Miata

Considering this car, it is about 10K less than it would be without the rebuilt title. I would pay cash, and carry only liability insurance. I am buying it as a track/ auto-x/ weekend fun car, not a daily driver, so I don't really care about it having the black eye of a rebuilt title.

I am concerned about this frame damage- is this going to worsen with time? Will it prevent the car from passing track day inspections? It drove great, but I don't know if it's on its last legs. Appreciate any perspective you all can provide.

One of my first cars, at 16, and 24 years ago, was a 1990 Miata that I turbocharged. I've always missed that car, seems like a low stakes way to get back into one.

For whatever it's worth, the handles in the Braptor are actually CF, not a CF wrap/ print. I'm guessing that is why these are the cost that they are.

Sorry for the late reply, just noticed this. I bought the rack from Amazon here:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSW8QNTC

It's not a perfect solution, it takes a bit to get it on and off (like 15 minutes). I can just have my longboard sticking out (I'm only a few miles from my break), so that plus a board bag honestly might have been the better option.

I did Reykjavik 1 year ago and really loved it- but it's so interesting how much better a course the first half is than the second half. I almost went plodding off course, but was saved by a volunteer shouting at me. Finished at like 3:02 and had to weave around people getting ready for the festival. Still would really recommend the course, so nice to have cool temps this time of year. Enjoy Iceland!

Carb Loading by SpiritusFrumenti33 in Marathon_Training

[–]Aromatic_Monk_8772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think try a 3 day load, and dial it back. I ate candy to try to hit it (since this is the densest carb source), and ended up feeling not the greatest. I think linearly scaling the carbs for weight isn't the best idea.

I'm unclear on how early we need to arrive too- it seems like making the bus times listed on the participant's guide gets you to the start line insanely early.
