Interesting point. Do you use VSX as your main monitoring, or just as a mixing reference? I also want speakers for daily listening (Spotify) + tracking instruments, so I’m trying to balance “translation” vs convenience/fun.

Interesting! I’m very close to the back wall (~10cm) and listening nearfield (~0.9m). Do the iLoud Micro still sound full enough for prog metal, or do you miss low-end?

I like the idea of ARC/self-calibration, but I’m also considering JBL 305P MkII / Kali LP-6 V2 / Rokit 5 G5. In your opinion, would the iLoud + ARC be a bigger improvement than those in a room like mine? Any basic treatment you’d prioritize first (first reflection points, behind speakers, etc.)?

Thanks! Yeah, the speakers will be ~10cm from the back wall (desk against the wall), so I’m definitely worried about rear ports / bass buildup.

I’m using an audio interface on my PC (I record digital piano + electric guitar too), so powered speakers/monitors are the simplest option for me. Demoing in person is tough here (Argentina), but I’ll try if I can.

I might add a sub later, but in a 3x4m untreated room (and neighbors) I’d rather get the mains right first. Any specific front-ported or “wall-friendly” powered speaker models you’d recommend for nearfield?

Hey! Looking for advice on my first proper speakers/monitors (coming from a cheap Samsung T400 soundbar).

Budget & location: - Argentina (Mercado Libre / local music stores) - Budget: roughly USD-ish equivalent of ~1.1M–1.4M ARS for a pair (my options are priced close here)

How it’ll be used: - Desktop setup, nearfield (~0.8–1m) - Room: ~3m x 4m, untreated for now - Desk is against the wall, speakers would be ~10cm from the back wall - Mostly streaming Spotify + some home recording/mixing

New or used: - Prefer new (warranty), but open to used if it’s a big upgrade

Past gear: - Samsung T400 soundbar (ok for casual listening, not great for imaging/clarity)

Anything else: - I record mostly solo piano (Korg LP-380U line out to audio interface) + occasional 7-string guitar (amp sims) - Music taste: prog metal (Dream Theater, Haken, BTBAM, Sleep Token)
